Great Economical Place for Family to GROW 6/2/2008

I'm now a mother of 2 Redford Co-op Grads and have found that the preschool has helped me start off my childrens education on a solid foot. I have not only learned from the children and teacher but have also gotten some great advice from participating parents. A Co-op is set up to run on a limited budget making it a cost effective way to give a child a head start on their education. To control the cost of a Co-op it is run by a group of elected volunteers. These volunteers are responsible for writing a teachers contract, balancing a budget, obtaining and keeping a state liscense, and the daily in's and out's of a school. These volunteers have alot on their shoulders and need to meet and conduct business when ever time is warrented. To think that some people find this as CLICKY is very sad. The objective of running a school that is 100 % safe is the commitment of all of the families that join a Co-op. This commitment is explained in the beginning at a meeting and also supplied in writing. It is said that fines have to be discussed, but when there are no consiquences even for adults some one is going to lose. The well being of the school or the saftey of the children can never be compromising factor. So people can call it petty and clicky, but you can always call REDFORD CO-OP SAFE!! more

I LIKE THE SCHOOL BUT NOT FOR MY KID 5/4/2008

HI EVERYONE!!!!! i LOVED THE SCHOOL AT FIRST, BUT I REALIZE THE SCHOOL IS CLICKY. I LOVE THE TEACHER. I AGREE WITH THE PERSON THAT LEFT THE MESSAGE A WHILE BACK. ITS TRUE!!!! ITS VERY CLICKY UNLESS YOU FIT IN. THIER ARE GOOD PEOPLE IN THE SCHOOL YOU CAN TALK TO. YOU GOT TO MAKE SURE YOUR NOT LATE ON SHOWING UP FOR CLASS CAUSE U GET STUCK WITH A FINE OF 50 DOLLARS OR MAKE SURE YOU HAVE RECIETS ON PAYING PAYMENTS FOR CLASS CAUSE THEY WILL TRY TO SCEW U ON NOT PAYING YOUR PAYMENTS. more

Great place to be involved with your child 11/7/2007

I love this place! The Redford Co-Op Preschool is my first experience with a preschool. I love the involvement with the children. Yes in a co-op, you must do your part with the function of the school. This includes working at the school during class, after hour involvement and meetings. This is all told to you when you sign up. If you are looking for a place to just drop your kids off, this is not for you. The teacher is wonderful and has a special relationship with each child. I recommend this to any one who wants to be involved with their childs eduction. Pros: About half price of traditional preschool. Great teacher Cons: None more

Redford Twp Co-op great place for invloved parents 4/8/2007

All 4 of my kids attended the Redford Co-op . They had an excellent experience, and I did too. This is a lot of critisim from people who never even attended the school. At a co-op you do have to committ yourself to a job, meetings, and to working in the classroom. But the part about the Co-op being owned by the enrolled families must have been missed. The fact that tuition is often less than 1/2 of a "traditional" preschool is probally all they heard when they got information. There have been many people who only listen to how much something costs and pay no attention to the details about what their responsibilites will be. The Redford Co-op is a State liscensed facility. They are held to a higher standard than even our own public schools. The teacher is experienced and and wonderful with children. She is truly dedicated to making their 1st shcool experience a positive one. At a co-op you have input into your child's 1st school experience. You can actually participate in the classroom & see what your child is learning. I would not change any of the time I spent in the Redford Co-op, and I was there for 10 years. The Redford Co-op has been in existance for over 50 yrs! How bad or how much work could it be if it has been around that long? It seems as if many parents are willing to make that kind of commitment, or the school would have closed a long time ago. As far as people being "clicky", I disagree on this too. My family left the Co-op over 5 years ago, and I still see the friends that both my children and I made there on a regular basis. They are some of the best people that I have ever met. Sometimes if you go into a situation with a preconceived notion or "attitude" you will use an excuse to justify your opinion, how could the poster know anything about the volunteers who run the school if she never even attended classes there? Sorry these posters didn't give the preschool a chance, they missed out a wonderful opportunity to part of a great place to learn. Pros: Great place to see your children learn more

#1 Co-op Preschool in Redford 2/6/2007

I LOVE this school it has been the best thing for my 5 children and for my family. The teacher is GREAT, she keeps up to date on new learning techniques and varies the activities in the class room. This school is VERY up front with your time and money obligations, which are not to be taken lightly. The school is non-profit, solely run and funded by the parents in the school. Being in a co-op does mean you have to dedicate alot of time but also does raising productive, well adjusted, respectful and independent children. I have been with this preschool for 10 years and we have had alot of families that we have maintained friendships with over the course of those 10 years. Every year we come back we make more new friends and I have always found this to be a very welcome enviorment. If you are looking for a great co-op for you and for your children this is the school for you but if you are looking for a day care you might want to look some where else. Pros: Friendly, Co-operative, Fun, Creative,Family Oriented, Honest, Fair and the Best Teacher in Metro Detroit Cons: NONE more

My child loved RTCP! 2/6/2007

First of all, anyone who complains about having to volunteer at a co-operative pre-school clearly doesn't have an idea of what a co-op is about, because yes, you do have to volunteer your time. That's kind of the point. I was working part-time when my child attended, and found that it was not hard to take care of my commitments, and people were willing to work with my schedule, which was nice. It was also very nice to go in and see how things operated, and the teacher was wonderful. She is very good with the kids and uses a gentle and friendly approach with them. It's a small building, but the space is well-used and things are taken care of. The facility is clean, and the parents were great to work with. I had no complaints, and never felt 'deceived'. If I hadn't gone back to work full-time, my child would still be attending. Pros: parental involvement, great teacher Cons: more time-consuming than traditional preschool more

The Best Place for your Child 2/6/2007

I had a hard time finding a place for my kids, I am very picky and want the best for them. The Redford Township Co-Op Preschool has everything I could've hoped for. The teacher is amazing, you feel like your children are being taught by your best friend! I love how involved I can be with my kids preschool education. You have to give of your time, but I really feel any parent would want to be in the classroom to see whats happening. You are not asked to do much, a little assisting, and some fun field trips! At this preschool your whole family is invited to outings, picnics, and even special persons days! Redford Township Co-Op Preschool produces happy, well rounded children. I would recomend this school for anyone who really cares for their children. Pros: wonderful teacher, a different exciting topic each day, family enviroment more

Terrible, go someplace else 9/10/2006

The environment was small, overstimulating, and not up-to-date with current trends in preschool education. There are many commitments involved that they don't tell you about until after you've signed up and paid your money. It was actually pretty deceitful. You'll feel pressured to sign your child up becuase they will tell you there is limited space left and unless you put down a deposit, you will lose your spot. I would not recommend this place! Pros: Inexpensive, but you'll pay BIG with the time commitments Cons: Everything, I do not recommend this place! more

A deciteful place 9/8/2006

This preschool was very nice to individuals as long as you were a member. When you decided that you no longer wanted to be a member their whole attitude changed. You must have alot of time on your hands in order to participate in this preschool. They fail to tell you all these things you must do until after they have you money and then they refuse to refund the money. The school is very clickey and if you do not fit in well then they make she you get the shaft on things. Before choosing this school make sure you a prepared for all the obligations they put on you and do not give them any of your money until you are positive that the committment is not to much because let me tell you , they want you to dedicate you life to them. They even give you fines for not attending meetings and being late on the days you are required to help. We are grown adults people . They should at least treat you like one. It really is worth the extra money every month to go some where elese. Pros: none Cons: its just not worth the headache more
