If you enjoy science and like to build small toys, Radio Shack is like a magical wonderland. They carry lots of electronic equipment and components and the staff usually have a basic knowledge of how the items work. Recently, Radio Shack employees have been pressured to sell you a cell phone, but aside from this minor annoyance, it’s a great place to shop. They even sell magnets which are great fun for kids, and are much cheaper and more powerful than the manufactured magnetic toys in toy stores. I built my very own heavy duty version of the fishing game using magnets from Radio Shack and it’s a lot of fun sitting on a bookcase and casting out onto the living room floor. It’s even possible to build a functioning remote controlled car, or easier yet to alter one of the many models they have for sale at the store. Radio Shack fosters a constructive spirit in children while other toy stores usually only foster a consumptive spirit.
