So now it is time for R&M Marine, Inc. to respond to these reviews. For starters Greasrbmx is from 2009. (nice name btw) The others that are over a year are actually several years old. Rykat is from 2011.\r \r So to Dan C; it is obvious that you do not understand the differance between decomtaminating a boat and cleaning one. We follow the protocol that is set by the Lake Corp. which follows the State of Oregon protocol. That is to powerwash the entire hull and trailer with hot water. Hot enough that 20 seconds in an area will kill the zebra mussell and its spores. It will also kill the other possible contaiminants they are concerned with. At no time are any chemicals applied to the outside of the boat or trailer. In fact when River City cleaned the slime line they did in fact have to use a chemical to do it. Ask them what they use to clean river slime. As a part of the cleaning we did apply a 1% solution of bleach to the motor well only, as requested by the Lake Corp. There are a few other things such as running the motor, filling ballast tanks and so on. The reality is that the work was done properly. If in the future you need the boat bottom CLEANED we will be happy to do that. It takes much longer to clean river slime than to decontaminate it so it does cost more than the $100.00 you paid for decontamination. What did they charge you?\r \r To fredjj: Yes sometimes we are a bit disorganized. We pass alot of clientele though our company and sometimes things fall through the cracks. If we did not get you done on time or had some other issue I apoligize. We try hard to do well by our customers but sometimes we make mistakes. We would appreciate another chance to show you the better side of R&M Marine, Inc.\r \r To Rykat: To be quite honest I do not remember you or the situation you are describing. I will only say that at no time has R&M Marine, Inc. ever knowingly charged anyone any money for work not done or parts not put in. If, and I use the word IF very loosley something like that had happened I would remember it. I don't. I will say that we can make a mistake but we would never do something like you are describing.\r \r To greasrbmx: I remember you only too well. The facts are that you came into a private conversation that came to an end right after you walked in. Yes we were discussing a vendor, one that had caused us a few problems in a short time. You are right we were not happy with them. As to your motor, you didn't know anything about your motor to be honest. I was trying to save you from yourself. You wanted to buy an expensive part that was not going to solve your problem. In fact if I remember correctly I tried to tell you it was not related to your description of the problem at all. Even getting you to tell me what was wrong was a challenege. It is our policy, and our customers love us for it, to try to save you from yourself. Shops that are only interested in making money just blindly sell you whatever part you ask for without trying to figure out if it will help or not. I make no apoligy to you and would in fact prefer you didn't come back here for service or parts. You were not a nice person to deal with then and I doubt you have gotten better.\r \r To skigirl2010: I saved you for last because I want to tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to say something nice. It seems that people don't go out of thier way to say nice things nearly as often as they do to say bad things. Thanks again for taking the time.\r \r To everyone else: R&M Marine, Inc. has been in business for over 20 years. Most of our new clients come from referrals of past clients. We will put our name up with any company in Oregon for overall satisfaction. We do not claim to be perfect, but we have high standards and try to meet them. Any customer with a complaint can call me at anytime to let me know and give me a chance to make it right. Your boating pleasure is our highest priority.\r \r MIke Dennis\r Owner more

Don?t Ever Take Your Boat to R & M Marine. I took my boat to them to have it cleaned and they returned it to me damaged and dirty. They are recommended by the Lake Oswego Corporation for boat cleaning & decontamination prior to being put into Oswego Lake. When I picked my boat up the boat and trailer looked to have aged by 10 years. It appeared that they improperly used harsh chemicals like bleach and let it sit where they should not have and never finished cleaning. R & M said that the boat had been properly decontaminated, yet it had a fresh scum line on it from being in another lake and could infest Oswego Lake if not properly decontaminated. They took my money and I had to go to another marina to have it properly cleaned and decontaminated as I couldn?t in good consciousness put the boat into Oswego Lake and potentially contaminate the lake. It is worth your time to drive just a little further for your boat needs like River City marine. more

Never let them service your boat 3/22/2011

I have taken my 16ft with 50 hp outboard here for 2 years only to learn they never do the service work (changing oil, plugs, filters, lower unit). I found out when they didn't change out my water fuel separator filter and then couldn't keep the engine going out at Bonneville Dam salmon fishing. Not a fun time. They charge you $150 and do nothing. I marked all my plugs and filters with a pen before I returned and had them now replace the water/fuel filter they missed, neglected . . . whatever. They still didn't do the service I paid for. So I showed them where I had marked things up. They weren't happy having to admit they were ripping me off. 2 weeks ago I serviced my 50 hp myself. Yep, my plugs, filters were the originals from 2 years ago. Everything was fouled up. R&M took my money and lied about doing the work for 2 years. What a wrong. I took my boat to Northwest Inflatable Boats in Portland and had Josh service my Nissan kicker that was stalling out. Yes, I had bought it from RM Marine. They hadn't serviced the kicker either. Josh took off the engine cover and found tubes disconnected, carb all gunked up, plug was fouled, too. Northwest Inflatable Boats serviced my kicker on the spot--no problems now. Don't go to R&M!! Mike is an arrogant jerk. Hoss hates doing the work I guess. Nothing but bad attitudes. Like the other reviewer, these jokers don't care. You will only get ripped off at R&M. more

ENGINE REBUILD WAS A BREEZE 7/15/2010

Our 1999 Wakeboard boat had freeze damage and needed a new engine. We took it to R&M as a second oppinion and also was highly recommended by a co-worker. Mike was really knowledgeable, nice and professonal. He knew that this boat was our baby and also was sympathetic to our money concerns. They re-built our engine, it was done in a week. His original quote was almost exact! No surprises! He showed us where the engine block was cracked, explained and literally showed us everything he had to replace. We will be going there for all of our boat needs...including winterizing!! Pros: Knowledgeable, friendly, thourough, competitive prices! more

BIGGEST @$$holes EVER!! 6/18/2009

When I walked in, I overheard the owner, Mike and a guy named Steve bitching about a vendor. I don't want to hear about it! They were being complete @$$holes to this guy. Then they were really short with me and acted like I didn't know a thing about my boat. Mike dealt with me like as if I were a burden to his business when all I wanted to do was give them business. NEVER GOING BACK AND I RECOMMEND YOU TRY THE VARIOUS OTHER MARINE REPAIR SHOPS LIKE OSWEGO MARINE!! Pros: They CAN actually fix things Cons: Complete @$$holes, mediocre pricing, technicians smell more
