Editorial review from Citysearch 8/2/2014

I started going to Queen City Comic and Card back in the early 90's, fell off when I went to high school, fast forward 19 years and I recently decided to pick up collecting comic books again, so I figured what better place than where I left off? Seeing some of the negative reviews I have to wonder if those folks are going to the same shop. I frequent both locations and have found the staff helpful, friendly, and courteous, if anything I'm the quiet one on account of my preference to concentrate while I hunt down books on my lists. Geoff has struck up conversation anytime I've presented the opportunity, as has Matt (He had to run some CDs around the block to his car one afternoon so I walked with him while he took care of that, we had a nice chat about comics, and I learned some things I didn't know beforehand). Bob (the Fairfield Mgr.) is a little more reserved but totally friendly and helpful if you make an inquiry. The pricing is hit and miss, sometimes I get a great deal, others they get me for a few bucks, but near as I can tell it seems to even out in the end (also, the price is on the bag, you can examine the book, if you don't agree, just give it a pass). Easily my favorite stop during the week, and I always find a gem while I'm there. Bottom line: I highly recommend Queen City Comic and Card to anyone who enjoys collecting, I promise they have something there for you!\r \r Sincerely,\r Simon Christian more

Best Comic Shop in Town 3/16/2012

Not sure why a couple of the other reviews mention bad customer service? Perhaps said individuals are just unfriendly themselves and/or elitist jerks? Probably. Anyway.. This is hands down the best comic shop around. I started going here when I was probably 12 with my father. Almost 30 now, I stopped reading comics for about 6 years and just recently returned to start a new collection. Store owner (wish I knew his actual name, sorry) was still there and remembered me like I hadn't missed a beat after we started talking for a couple minutes. He will help find anything, order anything, generally do anything you ask of him. Huge selection, good hours of business, central location, friendly service. Great all around experience. more

customer for life 3/11/2009

I grew up in Pleasant Ridge, and was waiting outside the door when Jeff first opened for business. I recently moved to Loveland, and go out of my way to get down to PR every Wednesday to pick up the latest releases. Sometimes I find little surprises in my pull-file when Jeff knows there is something I will want to have. I've been to every shop in the city, but can't bring myself to spend my money anywhere else. If he doesn't have it, he WILL find it for you. more

Be Ready For Condescending Conversation And A Less Than Friendly Atmosphere... 10/6/2008

I have been going to this store for a little less than a year now and at first I accredited my frosty treatment to the fact that I wasn?t a regular. But as time passed and with regular visits I began to realize that no matter how much business I gave them, or how many times I would attempt conversation, the result was always the same. Pros: Good Selection Cons: Customer Service more

my favorite place in Cincinnati 11/18/2007

a really great selection of stuff and a super staff. They're always really helpful if I'm trying to find something, and they'll hold comics in a file for you upon request, so you never have to worry about missing an issue. more

Wide variety, arrogant service 11/6/2007

I'm not a big collector though I appreciate the comics more than most men in their late 30s. The store has a good selection and variety of comic related merchandise - sculpts, toys, posters. About 2 years ago, I was in search of an Alex Ross poster of Joker and Harley and the service guy swore it didn't exist. Rude and sarcastic like Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. So, it's not a gender thing as in the other review. I'm always baffled by the niche stores like this that offend people who, with a little helpful service would become an interested regular customer. Pros: variety of everything comics Cons: know-it-all service more

most professional collector shop 9/22/2007

I can't remember how long I've been going to the Pleasant Ridge shop. Every few years I'll fall in and out of a hobby and go back. The owner has always been absolutly sincere and through. It's a completely professional and clean atmosphere. Everytime. It's also a good place depending on the day for shoptalk, where employees and customers get into deep discusions about things that don't really matter. Pros: Clean and courtous Cons: Back issue selection needs to be updated more

Great place for comics, conversation 8/2/2007

I've been a regular customer for several years, and have always been happy with the selection and service. If the Norwood location doesn't have an issue, they're glad to call the Fairfield location and ship it over, or vice versa. They're also willing to help promote local events with a window shelf for flyers. Pros: easy to find, good selection Cons: parking, more

Good Selection, Lousy Service 6/22/2007

As a long time reader of comic books, I expect to go into a shop and get good, friendly service. I know several places I can go to for just that. It's well-lit and in a good location, very easy to find. The store is relatively large and there's a very good selection. While I may recommend this place to a male reader or a regular to that store, I myself, as a female comic reader and a new customer, was treated more like a child than a customer and talked down to, with one of the associates telling me that I was incorrect about a particular comic series existing at all when I had an issue in my car at that very moment. Another person in the store, a male customer, was treated with a considerable amount more respect. A bit of a biased environment, but not bad if you're just there for a quick look around. more

Heroes aren't Hard to Find 11/18/2002

I used to go to this store when visiting Cincy from Columbus. This shop is in a good location off I-71 and has a good selection (independent books especially) and fairly knowledgeable staff. Pros: Conveniently Located more
