Pub food for Beer Lovers 6/13/2006

I love Pyramid beers. They tend to emphasize the malt over the hops, and a trip to their brewpub at the edge of Seattle's Pioneer Square yields many tasty brews you can't find anywhere else! The Draught Pale Ale, the Belgian White.. .. Pyramid bought out Thomas Kemper years ago, and still puts out their handcrafted soda pop (the root beer and cream soda are yummy). The food seems to have declined over the years, but still decent pub fare with the likes of chicken nachos, salmon burger, etc. It's a great place to meet people if they are coming from the outskirts of Seattle - easy access off I-90 and I-5. Be sure to check the baseball schedule, since it turns into a madhouse down there when there are Mariners or Seahawks games. Bring a jug or buy one there to take some of their home with you. more

Great beer/food 5/12/2006

Don't go to the Pyramid because you want a 5 star dining experience, go because it's a glorious summer evening in Seattle and you feel like kicking back with a good beer and some delicious pub grub. They have excellent beer battered fish and chips and yummy french fries with the skins on. I second the recommendation of the apricot ale, though just uttering the words makes my husband shudder. Beware: This place is a zoo on Mariner's game nights! more

The Beers of Summer 3/30/2006

Now, sometimes you just want to go to a sports bar. This brewery is a great place to go for drinks and dinner before, during, or after a baseball game. It’s big and can probably accommodate a pre or post game crowd, but we went during the first inning and didn’t have to wait at all. I love that apricot ale that they make, and somehow it tastes better here. I’ve herd that you can also get a beer “sampler” which sounds fabulous. The food is good too. more
