some time ago Purcella Services replaced my furnace. Today my air conditioner was not working so I called them. Joe came over and found a wiring problem in just minutes. He fixed it and did not charge me a cent - just wanted a glass of ice water. It is 90 degrees and I am a senior citizen who is very frail. Joe made my life MUCH more comfortable. This company is the BEST. I recommend them to everyone. more

Furnace - Bad Idea, Lousy Install 4/22/2011

The salesman at Purcella made it sound like a great idea to my husband: let's do a retro fit in an old building by tapping into the existing duct work for a swamp cooler and create a trap that moves based on the season so that both the existing swamp cooler and new furnace share the same duct work. Well, the trap concept did not work and left a 2"" gap running along 2 sides of a 24"" trap. The result was that heat flying out through the large gaps and into the sky. Heating bills actually increased after install. Worst part was that the installers, whom were basically good guys, knew of the problem but did not advise us, likely on the advice of their boss. Just an awful result of an expensive purchase and install. We ultimately had to remove the swamp cooler from the roof to seal the gap. Had we left the swamp cooler and gap then moisture would be forced into furnace all summer long and likely destroyed by crystalizing the fine elements of the furnace. So, now we have no swamp cooler and no proper duct work for the furnace. It's basically a screwed up situation that we'll have to redo when we can afford to redo it. The work was not to code, it was expensive, and simply was a failed idea that we were convinced to buy into. No permits were pulled for the job. Always make sure that a permit is pulled for a job like this done so that you have recourse if the work is done improperly. more

Wonderful and fast 3/22/2010

The employees of Purcella services were incredible. I had anticipated a large and very messy project, but was very impressed by the quick clean and FAST install. My new furnace is wonderful and warm and I am looking forward to my next excel bill (wierd huh!!). \r \r Very clean and fast!. btw this was the best of 3 bids and I believe I have a superior product. AVOID!!! 3/17/2010

Ok, so first off, I'll admit that I'm from Florida and therefore didn't have a clue as to what I needed in a furnace for my house. That being said, I trusted this company to sell me the correct sized system and install it correctly. Boy oh boy was I wrong.\r In the 5 years that I've had the system, I've had numerous issues with the furnace overheating because there isn't enough airflow to it (they installed returns that were way too small - total of 500CFMs on a 3 ton unit, where it should have a minimum of 1200CFMs). Plus the chimney is way too long and angled at a point where it constantly develops condensation and drips back into the furnace, forming crystals which clog up the system. There are several other problems that various repairmen have informed me of over the years....and all of the other workers have said there is no way that these guys ever got a permit for this job.\r They took my money and didn't look back. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!\r more

Highly Recommended!, Responsive, Courteous 3/16/2010

I can't say enough good things about Purcella Services. We dealt primarily with Joe, and he was great. He was responsive, always called when he said he would, performed a thorough inspection of our furnace and explained it well. It did turn out that we needed a new furnace and they were able to install it on a Sunday, and the gentleman who installed it, Homer, was courteous, kept his work area clean and it was a pleasure having him in our home. You don't have to worry about hiring these guys, they are hard workers and honest. Highway Robbery 2/26/2010

Here's how the purcella scam works: You call them for service, they promptly say ""no problem I'll be over in a few hours"" with no other discussion. Once they arrive, they quickly diagnose the problem and proceed to attempt to replace the defective part (luckily for me, I stopped and asked how much the HSI on my furnace would be). If you don't ask at this point before the part is installed, get ready to spend almost a quarter of the price of the furnace to replace what amounts to a lightbulb filament and 5 minutes worth of work. If you ask why it is so expensive, they will claim that they are the only ones on the planet that can get the 'right' part for your furnace and that if you don't buy it from them you are ""@#$! out of luck!"". When you politely refuse to pay a minimum of a 300% markup, they will then reveal their final card; A 'service' charge for coming out. Something they don't mention when setting up the appointment. If I was unsure whether or not Purcella service was a bunch of con-artists before, I have not doubt after this pleasant visit. Good luck with that business model! Poor Service 11/18/2009

Purcella Services does not return our calls. The furnace they installed was installed incorrectly and ran continuously until we turned off the breaker. It took weeks to get someone to come out and fix the problem. They also left a large hole in the intake manifold to the furnace which took even longer to fix. The installation will not pass county code so we can't close our building permit and Purcella Services won't call us back to fix the furnace so it is installed correctly. Honest and Prompt 6/18/2009

I was expecting to pay a lot of money to replace the compressor but instead was told I had a small leak which was fixed and the coolant recharged for $150.00. I could easily been taken advantage of but wasn't. Pros: quick and cheap more

Hello I am writing this review to let people know what kind of experience I had with Jeff Purcella and His company. In the past my husband who recently passed away was always the one to handle such things as hiring people to do work, repairs etc on our home So naturally when my furnace stopped working recently I had no Idea who to call. I looked in the phone book and called a local furnace repair company to see what I could do. They came out and explained to me that my furnace was beyond repair and offered to replace my furnace for almost $6000.00 but they were going to credit the $439.65 for the service call if I used them to install the new furnace. I felt like I was being taken advantage of to tell you the truth so I told him I would have to call him after some thought. The very next morning my furnace was out again. I called my neighbor who recently had has there furnace replaced and was very happy with both the work and price the Purcella Services offered. Of course it was Sunday so I never expected them to return my call until Monday. They returned my call within 30 minutes. I was very surprised when they offered to come and see if they could get me some heat going and look over the furnace to see if something could be done. Joseph Purcella was there by 12:30 that afternoon. After looking my furnace over he explained to problem with the furnace and why it needed to be replaced. When he quoted me the price I thought he made a mistake. He was more than $2000.00 less but he assured me the price was correct. He was able to get the furnace going. So I scheduled them to come and install the furnace Monday morning. When they arrived we found the water heater was leaking. I was almost in tears I could barely afford the furnace let alone replace the water heater. Joseph went outside I guess he called his father and he told me not to worry that they would install a new water heater for cost they did not charge me anything for the installation. They did what the others would not or could not do ! 4/9/2009

We were impressed to say the least. We had several other very large heating and air conditioning contractors give us estimates to install a new high efficient furnace and humidifier. We were either given a ridiculously high price to do the work or it was impossible to install the humidifier at all. We ended up choosing Purcella. First was pricing they were way more reasonable than the other companies. Jeff Purcella the owner personally stopped by to look at the install after which he took the time to explain to us how all he had to was move a few things around and redo some duct work and they could install the humidifier. Best customer service around!! 7/16/2006

Eddie at Purcella was great! He was very prompt in getting a quote to me, which was well below the $4,000.00 quotes we were getting. They worked with me to get a new a/c condenser ASAP!
