Thumbs Down 7/15/2011

This place used to be nice, but it's gone down hill and fast! The owner is completely useless and rude. Very bad impression and representation on his part. Let's just say good thing he has a good staff, even on nights he's 'working'. The place is not clean (the bar, glassware, etc.) The bathrooms are bad. They do not stay with the times, as far as what is 'in demand'. All lin all, if you're going to go downtown for a night out, there are a ton of better places to spend your time. BELIEVE ME! more

Rude Bartender who does NOT want your business 11/3/2009

Bartender could not be bothered to serve us or answer a question about a container behind the bar that looked like juice. As we paid and started to leave, he said ""have a good night and don't bother to come back."" \r \r Visited Pulse for allegedly good drinks - we certainly did not expect such a horrible experience since we were happy to put up with their sub-standard martinis. Pros: reviews make you think they have good martinis- they don't Cons: Bartender is rude and does not want your business more

detroit is lucky to have this club 3/20/2008

i was recently in detroit for business. after bouncing from from one place to another, i found my home away from home at pulse. i knew there had to be a lounge or club that embraced style, asthetics and the idea of living well in detroit. it took some time to find, and pulse is it. unpretentious, jovial, tolerant and thoughtful are words that come to mind when i describe the staff. do you and your freinds a favor - become regular customers at this great place. when i return on regular business trips, i will eat coneys (love them) and go to pulse. Pros: one of the most welcoming lounges in the country Cons: its not in my city more

One of the coolest lounges in the Metro Detroit Area 1/1/2007

If you like a place that is relaxed, an atmosphere that's cool, beautiful people both working and partying then this is the place for you. I have been here on several occasions going back to parties during Super Bowl Week to the Tigers big run to the World Series and other random Tuesdays and weekend nights and the people are always nice and the drinks are great! Most of the time the huge HD screen is displaying cool pictures of the City of Detroit but if there is an important sporting event on TV you can bet it will be shown in crystal clear HD . I would highly recommend that you check out one of Downtown?s gems the next time you are in the city. Pros: Great atmosphere & service, creative drinks, high end premium liquors you don't normally find in other bars. Bartenders are more than willing to make recommendations when asked. Cons: small sign that is hard to see when driving down the street. more

Great Style and Atmosphere 12/8/2006

I've been there several times and have a few favorite drinks that I've not found anywhere else. The bartenders are friendly (unlike some of the other trendy bars) and the bathrooms are clean. It was a little difficult to find but there is a parking garage across the street in the Compuware building for only $3.00. I reserved a table for my birthday party and we were treated like royalty. I would recommend this bar for a special occassion any day of the week. more

Love it! 11/7/2006

I have been to the Pulse several times. They have the best drinks in downtown detroit. I love the atmosphere and the music is great. The only downside to this place is that it is hard to find parking, but that's to be expected when you are downtown. Pros: Great drinks and ambience Cons: parking more

Incredible Drinks, Good Looking Crowd, Great DJ 7/22/2006

My fiance and I just moved to Detroit, so we werent sure what to do on a Saturday night. I found Pulse on CitySearch and decided wed give it a shot. Its easy to miss, but once we found it we had a great time! The bartenders had a perfect pour, the crowd was extremely good looking and professional, and DJ Rock City (perfect name!) had everyone dancing all night to a nice mix of house and hip-hop. We will be back there next Saturday for sure!!!!! Cons: Parking more
