Bad fish, unclean vegetables! 8/10/2008

We were the first people eating lunch that day, more people arrived about 15 min after us but it still took awhile to get served our measly entrees. I ordered the braised short rib based on a review and first of all the dish was small. There were only four pieces on skewers, about 1 inch in thickness, a boat load of sauce for... my four pieces? and 2 strands of bok choy - that were NOT even cooked or better yet washed! Two of my friends ordered their red snapper, it was NOT fresh and tasted very fishy. For the price of the food, you expect better. I also didn't feel too good afterwards. The last review was from last year...be warned! Pros: no wait Cons: bad everything else more

Delicious and fun! 1/28/2007

I had a few friends in town and wanted to try something new, so I took them to Pulse and it was the perfect place! The food was very very good, I had the Grilled Chicken Breast, my friends all had seafood dishes, and everyone loved everything! On top of the food, it had a great and unique atmosphere and the view of Rockefeller center was really exciting. I'd definately recommend it! Pros: food and location Cons: not very good for children more

Yum! 2/28/2005

I was blown away by the Pumpkin soup served with toasted pecans! This place was great, I had dinner with friends of various diet requirments and all found something to love about dinner at Pulse! The menu is varied, as is the selection of wines and Microbrews. And everything looks really cool on the plate. Our server and her team worked together like they had been doing this for years and all the while with smiles on their faces. The lighted ice rail in the bar tied in the majesty of the view of Rockefeller Center's ice rink out the window. My guests had a great time too. Pros: varied menu, decor, great service more

Cozy and delicious 2/28/2005

This out of the way restaurant is a hidden gem in Midtown. Pulse is located inside the Sports Club/LA in Rockefeller Center and provided a beautiful view of the ice rink over dinner one night this Holiday season. The service was personal and professional, yet the food was out of this world, have the dumplings and don't be affraid to ask questions about the food the staff are very knowledgable. I'll be back again to sample this Chef's specials soon! Pros: Flavorful, Personal, Professional Cons: Quiet more

A great find! 2/24/2005

The meal I ate at Pulse was one of the best I have ever eaten in New York. The food was beautifully presented and equally tasty. The ambiance was comfortable yet refined and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. Everyting I ate there was incredible from the Tseukune (chicken dumplings) to the black bass special, right down to the velety chocolate pudding I had for dessert. Truly an experience I would like to live over and over again. I can't wait until next time! Pros: Delicious Food, Beautiful Setting more

A hidden gem 2/24/2005

Wow, I can't believe I never knew Pulse was there. first off, what an amazing view. And a very soft and elegant atmosphere, without the stuffiness. It overlooks Rockefeller Center, and I can imagine what it's like at Christmas time when the tree is lit up. The food was amazing and surprisingly affordable. Very creative dishes, and healthy too. I'd classify it as Asian-Fusion. I suggest the seared tuna with the miso dressing. Pros: great view, great food Cons: hard to find more

Beautiful Views and Excellent Food 2/20/2005

Pulse, with a perch overlooking Rockefeller Center from inside the SportsClub LA, was terrific when I went with friends. It's perfect for a light gourmet lunch. The dumplings, noodles and Asian greens hit the spot, and the sake grilled short ribs melt in your mouth - I had to restrain myself from ordering a second plate. My friend had the panini and it was also excellent - a simple black forest ham and harvarti cheese with tons of flavor, perfectly crisp. The views were really spectacular, I can't wait to go back at night. Pros: delicious food, amazing views, good for lunch more

Spa Cuisine in Midtown 7/18/2003

Pulse serves spa cuisine - low fat, low carb, high protein - next to a health club in the Rockerfellar Center. My short ribs satey entree was decent and well prepared but the gazpacho was awful. My friend's noodle dish was bland and tasteless. The salad was boring and uninventive. Service was decent but the place was hardly packed during our lunch there. This is definitely not a place to come for lunch because you can get the same food from a corner deli at half the price they charge here. Pros: Clean Cons: Boring more
