Worst

I was not a fan of Pueblo (it just didn't live up to all the hype). But, the guacamole was one shining star in the otherwise dim meal. Learn more about why I feel this way by chec...

Excellent 5/10/2006

The guacamole is a must. Everything was teriffic. Highly recommend!! Pros: Guacamole, Price more

often dinner 11/13/2005

The wait is half the fun. Stop complaining and enjoy the margaritas. I have dined here 30+ times and had nothing but great service, wonderfully fresh food and good times. The tamales and enchilades are great. more

not worth the wait 10/20/2005

My wife and I really wanted to like Pueblo Solis. The food is very good, the people are friendly and the restaurant has a good vibe. But the wait is excruciating. From waiting to sit down (we were told 3 times it would be another 15-20 minutes), to waiting to be served (we waited 20 minutes for a waiter to approach our table and another half hour for our food), to waiting to pay your check (I've never had such a hard time giving money away). From start to finish it was 3 1/2 hours. The restaurant is simply not worth the wait. We won't go back until they expand, or hire more staff. Pros: good food Cons: very slow service more

Nice neighborhood mexican 10/5/2005

My girlfriend and I visited earlier on a Wednesday evening so we did not experience a wait. We chose to sit outside - I felt there was ample room. I did not feel cramped as some of the other reviews stated. I can't comment on the space inside. Our server was very knowledgeable. The salsas were all very spicy which i don't mind, but I can see how it would be a complaint for others. The margaritas were large and tasty. The guacamole was very good, and my spinach salad with white cheese, bacon, and balsamic was also tasty. Our entrees were fresh and presented well, i had a special of swordfish which was prepared just right. Even when we left we didn't see a line waiting. Maybe it was a slower night. Overall We were very satisfied with the experience and we will be back. Pros: atmosphere, fresh food, good service Cons: very spicy salsa more

Order the Mango Cheesecake!! 9/14/2005

When you go to Pueblo Solis do NOT expect to be seated immediately (unless you go Mon-Thur at 5pm...reservations do not help) and expect to be close to someone. This is a small sacrifice for the best Mexican food in St. Louis! The presentation of the food is thoughtful, which you do not see for this price anywhere. The guacamole dip is THE best (and if you get it when it was just made...watch out!). The margaritas...are pricey but heavy-handed. The mango cheesecake IS A MUST HAVE!! Pros: Mango Cheesecake, Chicken Burrito, Guac Cons: Small Space, Long Wait more

Love this place!! 9/1/2005

Since I live down the street, I have visited Pueblo Solis several times since 2002. Each time I have been greeted with a smiling face and jovial attitudes. I love the atmosphere. It's cozy and inviting! From the margaritas through the three types of salsa to the specials and choice items on the menu, we have never had a bad experience here. Go during the week if you don't like spending time by the bar waiting for a table... Pros: Attitudes, Atmosphere, Food / Drink Cons: Slow, Crowded more

least romantic 6/1/2005

after spending over 45 minutes waiting in a hot sweaty line; we were told it would only be a few minutes more at least 4 times. we waited in line for over an hour. we were finally seated in a very croweded dining area that was not much larger than the livable side of my basement. the only thing ""romantic"" about the entire restaurant was the candle in the center of a very small table. we were crammed in the dining room with other diners shoulder to shoulder at other tables surrounding us. the food was OK at best. there was nothing on the menu noteworthy of a recommendation that someone with no taste buds gave us. i dont recommend this place for a romantic dinner or any dinner unless you are desperate and dont have a cell phone to let other people know to meet you somewhere else. more

THIS is Mexican food 3/10/2003

This is Mexican food is all about. Fresh, seasonal vegetables and presentation showed such care and pride. The restaurant might be tight in space, and there's always a wait, but having eatened in many mexican restaurant, and dined with Mexican friends, this is by far the most pleasing to the palate. Pros: fresh food, authentic, well prepared Cons: tight space more

A Favorite 11/13/2002

We live in the neighborhood and eat here @least 1x/month. I noted the negative comments about service/food. But honestly, we've never had bad service...it is small, and we have had to wait for a table on several occasions. But, we've always been impressed w/how attentive the staff was @filling drinks, etc. LOVE the food...from the specials (the cured pork chop w/sweet potatoes was incredible), shrimp diablo, soft tacos (my husband craves these), enchiladas, tamales, and guacamole. We'll con't to be back on a regular basis. Pros: great food Cons: small, cramped more

Tasty tamales! 10/26/2002

My wie & I had a very nice meal here. I had the mixed tamales and she had the Voddoo Shrimp & pasta. Both were delicious, when they say spicy they mean it! Pros: authentic food, spicy means hot!, fresh food Cons: small, crowded more

My husband and I love this restaurant. The rice is the best and we love the chicken with mole sauce. Yummy! more

Good Food 8/7/2002

We went early on a Friday evening, so we did not have a wait...the place is small and cramped inside, so I would recommend getting there early. The food was very good....some of the best Mexican I've had in St. Louis. Their margaritas were very good (and I typically don't like margaritas b/c of the tequila), and their guacamole was excellent (another food item I'm not usually fond of). Their homemade salsa was too hot for me. Next time I go, I will probably ask for the pico de gallo (a lot milder) to go with my chips instead of the salsa. more

Burned Twice 5/27/2002

I live within walking distance so I was pleased when they opened. Unfortunately I tried them twice and was disappointed both times. The tables are so jammed together you can't move in your chair once you are seated. The food was mediocre at best. Warmed over Old El Paso. My wife had a Fajita the second time that was absolutely disgusting. More like squid than steak in texture. Service was MIA. Sorry, I know this place is popular, There are always people waiting to get in but I can't figure out why. Take the time and drive to Fairmont City for real Mexican. more
