I called them to get my plasma tv fixed. The soonest appointment they had was about two weeks away. I accepted. They showed up at my house promptly. They diagnosed the TV, and said it needed a certain part. They said they were ordering it and left. Almost two months go by without a word. I call them up and they said the part is on order. I call them again a week later and they had no clue even what I was talking about. They said they want to come to see it again. They come two weeks later and take the tv into the shop. A week goes by, and I call them. They say they have nothing on file and don't know what I am talking about. I called 3 or 4 more times over the next couple days. Each time they said they were looking into what was going on and would call me back, but they never did. I am fed up and will be going there to personally take my TV back if they can find the stupid thing. COMPLETE MORONS Pros: They answer their phone. Cons: They will put you on hold for 5 minutes and just tell you they will call you back (LIE) more

I contacted Public Sound because they are listed as the preferred service center for JVC HD TVs. I think they earned that designation because NO ONE else has more experience with JVC or wants JVC's business. Other places refused to come to my house to check out my problem. So the appointment scheduling went well, they told me what the visit would cost and that that price would be applied to any repair; then it went down hill. The window the provided was 8:00am to 12 noon. The Repair Tech showed up late. I showed him the issues I was having and his first inclination was to try a soft reset (makes sense) but pressing a series of keys on the remote. Problem 2, he does not know what the key sequence is and has to call the office. OK so he's not an expert on this brand of TV, he admits to being a Sony expert, doesn't do much work on JVCs at all. Interesting, why the heck did they send him then. He keys the sequence and tries it repeatedly to no avail, he can't get the service menu to appear. According to him it must be the HD board so he recommends thay take the chassis out of the TV bring it back to the shop. At this point I am speaking with the office to find out what this will cost me. Reapir will be $229 plus parts, so I agree. They have the TV for 10 days and never call me. I call to get an update and I'm told the board is bad and needs to be replaced (it's 15 months old, warranty has lapsed). The cost of the part is almost $350, I can deal with that, however, suddenly my repair cost is not $229 any longer. I eventually get to speak to the manager to agrees to honor the $229 labor cost. I'm still not convinced I want the repair done since I've lost all confidence in them by now. The manager assures me the part is in stock and the repair would be done in about a week. It will take 5 weeks from the time they took the TV until the day they return it, assuming they don't miss the new dt. PLEASE DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR, NEVER USE THESE GUYS. Pros: Easy to schedule appointments Cons: No follow-up, prices change, they don't deliver on promises more

I personally liked this place. The service was pretty good and my electronic was fixed promptly. Although it takes a little while to order parts for it (they told me) they were also polite and friendly. I also bought a few things from there that I had been searching for for a little while. This might be the worst company I have ever had experience with. I showed up at the store in person three times to get a part for my stereo replaced. Each time, I arrived at the shop at around 4:30, and was told the technician was not avaliable. The final time they informed me that the technician always leaves at 4:00. They assured me they would find my replacement part and call me. They called me two weeks later, saying that they had no way of knowing what part I wanted (I wanted a replacement of the part I had given them). I went back to the store to straighten things up. They said they could order the part I needed. 5 weeks later, I had not been contacted, so I called, and found that they had lost the part and the paperwork. Excellent service, knowledgeable techs 10/13/2006

The techs at Public Sound were able to troubleshoot my older Kenwood preamp very quickly and did all the necessary repairs within 10 days like they had promised. The unit now performs better than new. I have had several components repaired by them, including a Sony receiver and TV as well as a Teac Z6000 cassette deck. Their service has always been prompt and their prices are very reasonable compared to other service facilities in the New England area. more

Terrible service 9/15/2006

They had my item for 10 days,and never even looked at it. When I called, I was put on hold for about 10 minutes. They did this to me on 3 seperate occasions! Said they had trouble locating it. I wonder how,the place is not that big.I went back to pick it up,and had to wait another 20 minutes to be served. My deposit fee was not returned,even though they claimed it was a "deposit". Not one to make a scene, I thanked them and went on my way. I hope they enjoy the $25. That's the last money they will ever get from me.. more

Very Poor Service - Never Again 8/20/2006

Very poor service. Public sound had my dvd player for over 3 weeks, I received a phone call that the dvd had been fixed, when I finally received the dvd player it was not fixed with no explanation other than "model is not field serviceable". It would have been nice if they told me the unit was not serviceable when I dropped it off or when they called and told me the dvd player "is all set". Called to talk to the manager, called me back 8 days later and was no help. Very aggravating, never again. Cons: unresponsive and they appear just not to care about the customer more

Stay Away from Public Sound! 10/23/2005

They made two apointments to pick up a TV and didn't show up or call. They lost all of the paperwork and couldn't find the TV once it was in their shop. It took them almost a month to complete the work and they over charged me! more
