Ohhhh, it's ok, nothing great at all. 12/20/2006

Ok, I signed up as a Citysearch Member just to write this reivew for Prince's, for which was the first time I visited the restaurant. I keep reading and hearing about how wonderful the burgers are at Prince's, so I went for lunch to go try them. I am amazed that this location gets the publicity it does for a burger that does little to impress. It's a normal, plain old burger....absolutely nothing astounishing. I had the ""original Cheeseburger"" appartently the burger that started it all for Prince's... I hade the combo of fries and onion rings, and a root beer to drink. The burger is thin, cooked well done, dressed with the usual tomato, union, mustard, and pickles, on a flat sesame seed bun. I'd rate the burger a 4 or a 5.. nothing exciting at all. The fries were far from exciting, as they are just plain old machine cut fries...and with no special seasoning or any kind. I would rate the fries a 3, as they could use some tips from any old fast food joint for pointers. The onion rings were much better and I would recommend them....a good 7 rating. The root beer was nice because is was very cold and served in a frozen mug.....but the root beer was just normal old root beer....a 7 rating again. If you took good old A&W root beer, put it in the freezer for five minutes, then put in in a mug, you'd have equal to or better root beer. The atmosphere is like a 50's dinner. The price was fine...like $7.50, but I just don't get why people love this place; especially with a Fudruckers next door. Honestly, it's not even fair to Fudruckers to compare Prince's as I don't think Prince's is even near the same quality of a burger as Fudruckers. The meet, the bun, the salad bar (build your own burger style) , and the fries are all 100 times better at Fudruckers. Prince's is special because its been around for a long time, not because of the burger I ate today. AMF Windfern Bowling has a better burger by far...and I'm not joking. Pros: Atmosphere, cold mugs Cons: absolutely nothing special for food...maybe the onion rings are an exception. more

Great Burger 9/30/2005

Last Saturday, after Rita had made it's apperience I needed a burger fix. Luckily I found the Prince's Hamburgers on the Katy Freeway open, I have not been to a Prince's since they were drive-ins, years ago. Let me tell you it was great, better than great and the shake was the real deal. I'll be back. more

been eating at Princes Since the early 70's 7/18/2005

My grandfather used to take me to the princes on cullen and today princes is alive a well. The hamburgers and malt were perfect then and are perfect now. There is a picture of the old princes i ate at as a child and you should take your child now. I hope it never goes away. Pros: ambiance, food, malts and shakes more
