Prime Steak House

I have been dining at Prime for YEARS and it is my favorite restaurant in Park City. I have a second home in Park City and visit about 6 times a year, and Prime is always the first restaurant I go to when I am in town. I recently recommended it to a friend and he said that he looked online and found some negative reviews (I would disagree with any negative review about Prime) and was a little skeptical. I realized that I have never written a review about my favorite restaurant and I thought it was about time. \r \r Every time I dine at Prime they have live music in the Piano Bar, which can get a little noisy at times, but is always fun. The food is always fantastic and the chefs have never failed to cook my steak just how I order it. I have tried most of the side dishes on the menu, but my favorites are the mac and cheese, sauteed mushrooms and sauteed asparagus. The chocolate molten cake for dessert is to die for and they have an outstanding wine list with something for everyone on it. \r \r I can't say enough good things about the service. The service is always impeccable and I have seen many of the same staff members for years. You never have to wait too long for anything, and you are never rushed. Meghan, the general manager, is great and is always ready to accomodate for any special requests. \r \r Don't pay any attention to anyone who doesn't think Prime is best restaurant in Park City, it is a must stop for everyone!\r more

My wife and I ate here based on a recommendation from a friend. We had a great time. We shared the ahi to start which was great. I had the ribeye and my wife had an oscar style filet. Both steaks were in our ""top 5"" ever tasted. The macaroni is a MUST try, too. The staff was attentive and we even got a visit from the owner who made sure we had nice time. I will go here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice date night. more

Went up with 5 other people for steaks. 2 of us ordered the rib-eye. Kind of hard to screw up a ""supposed""rib eye prime steak. Could not get a knife though it. It was awful. Waitress did not care. Go somewhere else. They clearly do not serve ""prime beef"". The terms ""prime"" are nowhere to be found on their menu. The sign says prime, the steaks are something else. Stay away. more

The service was great. The staff as a whole were very attentive. We had multiple people taking care of us throughout the nigh. My wife and I shared the tuna and lobster bisque as appetizers....both were great. The best part of the night was having dessert in the piano bar with live music. We had a great experience and will go back next time we are in Park City. more

This place took at least 10 minutes to seat us even when we had a reservation! They waited another 5 minutes before taking our order after being seated. Then we waited easily 25-30 minutes for the first course to be severed and then another 10-15 minutes for the main course. The portions were extremely small and I was still exceptionally hungry after the meal. I only asked once during the wait for the first course what was taking so long and the waiter or manager (I'm not sure) snapped at me and told me to be patient and that all meals took this long. I was appalled and would have just left at that moment but I'm pretty sure this restaurant would still require me to pay once our party had ordered. So I figured I would wait because I assumed that with the prices as high as they were that it would have to be a fairly large meal. Needless to say when they started bringing us what appeared to the appetizers we had ordered I was upset again. They appeared to be less than 3 bites at best and they cost at least 10-20 dollars each! What a joke! At this point I asked the servers how many more appetizer plates they were bringing out. One server looked at me as if he didn't understand my question. He then replied this is all you ordered for the appetizers. I couldn't believe it! I'm not a large man and I could have easily eaten both mine and my wife's appetizers in one mouthful. It would be a large mouthful but it still could have been done easily. The main dishes were not any better! The prices were fit for a feast and we received a meal fit for a small animal and in a very lengthy time frame I should add. I was so upset I didn't even consider desert I'm sure it would have been something so small I wouldn't have noticed eating it either. After visiting this Godforsaken restaurant we went to a fast food restaurant which we hardly ever do. This was our first trip to Park City and I feared that every other restaurant in this city would be similar or the same. Knowing that at least fast food restaurants would actually serve a meal large enough to feed someone we opted to go there. God forbid that we would go to another overpriced restaurant and get yet another ridiculously tiny meal that would leave us still hungry. I'm only a CFO pulling a little over 200,000+ a year, geesh! I just dined at this restaurant and the food, ambiance and service was great. I managed to find a seat at the bar in the piano lounge and was very impressed with the live music, the service that I received from numerous servers, and the just the general hospitality. The only reason that I gave it four stars vs. five was the price. It is Park City, so a high price should be pretty much expected for a good meal, but it was still just a little pricey. We ate here on recommendation from a friend and were sadly disappointed. The service was way below average (rude, incredibly long wait times for service) and the food was mediocre at best (the filet I had does not make it near my top 10 list and the sides were forgettable). I'm used to high prices in Park City so I can't complain about that, but I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. more

We left because the place is massively over priced. I live in New York and go to expensive steak houses, but this one just isn't worth it. Also, were initally seated in empty back room and had to request a move to front room which at least has some atmosphere. They know it is over priced as staff was not surprised and their website menu section does not post prices. 36 dollars for a small piece of salmon. 41 for an 8 ounce filet. No sides included. Wine list also has dramatic mark-ups. more

The food was expensive and the portions were very small. The manager/owner was beyond rude. Someone at our table ordered an appetizer and then brought them the meal instead and no one realized until they got the check. So we talked to the manger and he said that the food was eaten so he had to pay for it. And the manager said that he should have known it was a main course and not an appetizer. WELL the portions are so small that it is hard to tell which is which and it is a $30 diff between the appetizer and the main course. The manager even called the cops. WHAT A LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The owner was very rude and ungrateful. He looks like he is on steroids, yet when someone confronted him he hid behind a scrawny cop! Just don't give this guy the satisfaction of going to his restaurant! Pros: Pleasant atmosphere! The steak was good but not the best i've ever had Cons: Manager/Owner was beyond rude! I created a membership just so that I could contradict the previous review. I've been to high-end steak houses all over the country, and this was probably the second best dining experience to date.\r \r The service was fantastic! (thanks Brian and crew)\r \r The food wonderful quality, wide variety, and my steak? Second best I've ever had.\r \r Atmosphere phenomenal! Homey, great art, lighting, and the live music was the perfect accent to the meal.\r \r While it is somewhat pricey they're not shy about letting you know that up front, and frankly it's very competitive with other high-end steak houses such as Spencer's, LG's, Ruth's Chris, and Morton's. Additionally, going in the off-season you can take advantage of the 2for1 entree deals.\r \r While there are lots of great restaurants all around Prime in Park City, it's a must visit place. The service just plan bad and the food isn't any better. I also found the restaurant to be dirty and lacking appeal. It is also over priced. There are to many good restaurants in Park City to ever step food in this poor run establishment. more
