Total Experience 8/17/2009

From the warm welcomes and helpful staff, I was put in touch with a fantastic instructor who totally helped me understand and feel my workout in the first 30seconds. Hooked from day 1! Pros: I felt a connection to my core from the start! Cons: I wish I had known this sooner! more

Great Workout - Friendly enviroment 8/14/2009

The space is beautiful, the instructors are friendly, and the workout is targeted to my level while still challenging me. Pros: Each workout is challenging, and I always leave feeling good Cons: I wish I had more time to workout more

The Best In Pilates 7/30/2009

Great team and family environment here with a talented and skilled training team. The group classes are really fun and everyone seems to know each other. If you're looking for a pilates studio that has a really positive friendly vibe than this is the place to go. more

Great workout-for every level 2/6/2009

The teaching is so consistent here. I can come anyday with any teacher and it's always great. It's clean with great desk staff and with so many class times-I can always fit in a worrkout!! Pros: Lots of teachers and classes more

Thank you Power Pilates! 9/6/2007

Just a quick note to thank you for a wonderful growth experience in this past weekend?s Intermediate Mat.\r \r Elin was no less than fantastic?a virtual role model! She gave very clear direction, goals and feedback. She was accessible for questions at all times. She instilled a positive outlook in all of us and was very inspiring. I certainly look forward to taking her workshops in the future.\r Pros: Great organization and support more

Really Helps! 8/24/2007

Pilates (which I started at the age of 48) has been a transformational part of my life. Just when most of my contemporaries are getting hip, back, and joint problems, I have developed more flexibility and range of motion than I've ever had! Right hip problems ""run in my family."" I don't have them. I know that it was Pilates that prevented them. I don't know what I'd do without it. I go twice per week when I'm in town. When I'm not, I do the mat workout in hotel rooms. It's a life saver. I plan to do it regularly until I die. Pilates is the ultimate mind/body workout. It changes not only one's body. It also changes the way you think. I can't recommend it highly enough. I shudder to think of what my body would be like now if I hadn't found Pilates! more

Exellent Place for Pilates 8/20/2007

The service is great, staff if helpful and extremely friendly makes my whole pilates experience easy and entertaining. A+++ more

Best classical pilates in city 11/4/2006

I disagree with the previous review. The pilates instructors run a tight ship/ class. Whenever I have not been going to class for a while, I use the ""intro to pilates"" classes to ease back into a schedule. My husband (who used to laugh about pilates & prides himself on being 100% in shape) was thrown for a loop when he went to his first class and had trouble keeping up. He loves coming with me now and also credits the classes with helping reduce lower back pain. Pros: Great instructors, frequent mat classes. Cons: Mats not cleaned between uses. more

feels like a factory 10/5/2004

This place gets busy and often the instructors don't seem to know what's going on around them. REally bad client relations with front desk. All in all decent workout but felt lost in the shuffle. Pros: well known Cons: , unfriendly staff more

mixed 9/5/2003

As a pilates studio, it's a mixed bag. The quality of your session entirely depends on which instructor you get and their availability. If you don't have a standing appointment with a trainer you like, then an appt with them is hard to come by. I've been stuck with some pretty bad lemons. A few ""junior"" trainers seemed more like drill sargeants than pilates instructors. I have moved on to another studio. Pros: lots of instructors Cons: inconsistent training, rude staff more

Power Pilates ROCKS! 1/29/2003

I go to the one on 57th Street at Sichel CHiropractic - but Power Pilates is a great company with great instructors and top-notch Pilates equipment. A must try! more

  • The Scene
To the uninitiated, Pilates apparatus--with its chains, pulleys, straps, traversing bars and sliding padded seats--may look like circus training equipment. But the exercises performed thereon are about core muscle development, not the esoteric art of contortion. At this national chain (which sometimes partners with Equinox), a largely female clientele is taught a classical approach that trusts that the original methodology, and not a newfangled variation, is the best way to attain slimmer hips and flatter tummies, among other things.

    The Workout
A recuperative system zeroing in on the abdomen, Pilates slowly clues your body in to proper alignment. The instructor (educated, no doubt, at one of this institution's training centers) will refocus your attention on your midsection as you perform one of the 500 movements indebted to dance as well as yoga. Think of it as the ultimate ab workout with too many exercises to ever get bored.
