Unprofessionalism, juvenile and arrogant! 1/26/2011

These stores used to be awesome. Now the owners are arrogant and unfriendly. I wanted to buy a pair of chairs in December while everything was half priced. I just wanted some quick info and a dude with a beard and long hair told me that he was paying me to take the chairs away! I knew they were a good deal but just had a few questions. The phone rang and he just walked off. I wasn't too thrilled to be insulted by a 30 year old who dressed like a sloppy high school stone. I grudgingly went to their store in Mesa called the Crowded House where I was met with the same rudeness of an old woman who was very snappy and short when I asked her questions. The employees were the same. All smelled of dirty cigarettes and one was wearing sunglasses inside while talking to me. It's too bad because they do have awesome finds at very reasonable prices. A little professionalism and patience would have sold me. I can't believe I was treated so rudely. Some people do admire professionalism and kindness in business. I don't care how cool or inexpensive the merchandise is, I will never go back and will tell everyone I know not to waste their time. more

too bad 7/1/2007

My wife and I have been buying from the Potato Barn for 3 years. I was fun to see it grow and know of the success Greg and Marcy have enjoyed. The inventory has always been random and interesting, the prices are very fair and they have done a remarkable job making an old eyesore into something positive. Last week we went in to look for some items for our summer home. It had been almost a year since last time. The inventory was thinned out and not near as interesting. Greg was "too busy" to be bothered with customers and when we asked where Marcy was the answer was vague and had an unkind tone to it. We know times are tough for a lot of businesses right now but you'd think with that in mind, the attitude would be much more positive. The experience made us wonder if they are going to be around for much longer. I was just not a good experience and we may give it another try when we need something. We purchased someplace else. Too bad to see what was once a fun place to shop become just another place with bad attitudes. more

This is a huge red shed on Higley and Chandler Blvd. It has a mix of a lot of different styles of furniture and at great prices. It is worth a trip ot to see it, you can find some hidden jewels sometimes for cheap! more

Eclectic mix of furniture! 11/11/2005

Everything is in the name! The Potato Barn is a renovated old potato barn that carries a wide variety of home furnishings. Down-home styles with comfortable lines are what this place is all about. If you are looking for straight-lined modern furniture you may want to turn to somebody else. This store has a great selection of larger scale home accessories and too many one of a kind pieces to even count. You sure won't see your next door neighbor with the same furnishings! more
