Salad bar okay.. Meat??? 10/26/2009

We had not experience Brazilian food and wanted to try it out. Salad bar was okay, the waiter who explained how to use the red/green device to request more meat service appeared bored. He looked angry each time we turned to green indicating we wanted more meat. We requested our check after this happened twice. Service is not a strong point. Meat too salty. Pros: Salad bar had a good selection Cons: Meat was too salty, wait staff very unfriendly more

AMAZING!! 2/19/2009

The best Brazilian Churrascaria in town! I've been to Gauchos Village and Picanha, and neither can compare to Porto Alegre's tender, flavorful, and juicy meat. They have a good selection of wine , best capirinha (brazilian drink), yummy desserts, and GREAT entertainment on the weekend. I will definitely be back!! more

Great Restaurant for family and friends... 9/23/2008

I do not usually write reviews but I saw the two bad reviews on this site and I have no idea they are talking about. This place is gorgeous, beautifully designed, white linen, a bar!, I went on a Friday and they had a live Jazz Band!! which I loved, I also tried their Carnaval drink and was delicious. I had never had Rodizzio which is basically brazilian style steakhouse which also includes game meats hot on skewer straight from the grill - I loved it, yea the meat serving people didn't talk much but I didn't care- I just wanted them to bring meat! and our server a latin guy was pretty knowledgable, funny and very professional - excellent service, excellet food, it was busy but the meat was always coming and it was very good! I will be back and yes I do recomend it to my friends and family. Pros: Ambience, lots of protein, excellent salad bar w/hot seafood Cons: you get full eventually... more

AVERAGE-Quality Brazilian Steak House with RUDE Staff 5/22/2008

Want to overpay for OK food and a condescending comments from the waitstaff? Try Porto Alegre! Don't get me wrong: I'm fine with dropping a few bucks on a good meal, but I expect good food & good service in return. This was NOT the case. I don't think I've ever been so insulted by someone wearing a dirty apron. The food was fine, but nothing special. I will NOT go back & DON'T recommend trying it. Pros: It provides nourishment Cons: It pales in comparison to the many FANTASTIC restaurants in Pasadena more

So much fun! 5/24/2007

Brazillian BBQ is one of my favorite types of restaurants, since I get to eat plenty of meat, without the hassle of vegetables :) I've been to quite a few places, and this is my favorite. The food is fresh, and even when it's busy, the meat service is prompt. The salad bar is bigger than most places. Parking is even fine, since it's in the Paseo Colorado mall. I visit at least once a month, especailly for special occasions. You won't be disappointed! Pros: Food, Service Cons: A little pricey, but you get what you pay for more

ONE OF THE WORST BRAZILIAN RESTAURANTS IN L.A. 12/21/2006

As a native from Brazil, I've experienced all kinds of ""rodizios"" (brazilian bbq buffets). And I can honestly tell you that this place is one of the worst places I've ever eaten. Let's start with the salad bar. It looked nice but tasted horrible. The salads did not taste fresh at all. The hot bar, you could tell the food had been there for hours. The meat? OMG the WORST! Dry over cooked meat that was either too salty or extremely bland. The staff handling the meat (except for one brazilian guy who even knew the meat was horrible) was a bunch of idiots who did not know anything about brazilian food. They didn't even know how to cut the meat out of the skewers. The waiter definitely looked like he had absolutely no experience either. He never came by the table to change our plates. He never came by to refill the ice teas and water. And last but not least, the price per person of $35 was unbelieveable. I don't mind paying a lot of money for food as long as it's good. And this place was horrible. I woulnd't come back there even if it was for free. Of course you will never experience the best Brazilian BBQ until you actually go Brazil. But if that's not the case, I would recommend the following places: Fogo de Chao (L.A.,Chicago,Atlanta,Dallas, Houston), M-Grill (Los Angeles),Plataforma (New York), Porcao (Miami), By Brazil (Torrance) more

Great Upscale Buffet place-Place for monthly meat fix. 12/18/2006

We are not kind of people who go to buffet place but this place is fun and good for mid price-even trimming is right.. white linen, nice wine glass etc. $20~$35 per main dish is type of restrurant where I usually go, so I cannot say this place is expensive. NOT your $9.99 all you can eat place. Salad and other buffet food are NOT normal ones, very high quality. Meat is great, but I am extremly happy with buffet. I was there four times so far. Wine price is reasonable, esp pinot noir. OK. They can do something with their dark street front side ( I cannot image a restruant wasting valuable street frontage with black tint but I am not an expert)..Other than that, I am going there once a month for fix. Pros: You can get upscale reliable food. Cons: Has to be hungry to go there. more
