This is THE place to go downtown for a variety of reasons: lunch, snack, fresh veggies or fish for dinner, a gift, wine, cheese, spices, homemade sausage, bread, cookies, rolls, cakes, pizza. The list goes on and on. The market hosts two sit-down restaurants--one seafood, one BBQ--a couple of cafeteria-like restaurants where you can get a cup of soup or a taco, a local coffee barista, and two bakeries. You can park for free on the third floor of the garage for two hours if you have your ticket stamped by a vendor. There is ample seating both upstairs and downstairs. The restroom is most often clean and the building is well maintained. The vendors are friendly and helpful and some of them offer tastes. Big Sky bakery almost always offers a taste of cookies, bread, or rolls; Foley's never offers a taste of anything (and their bread isn't as good as Big Sky's either). Worth a stop whenever you're in Portland.
