Had their meat lovers pizza. Tasted rubbery and the grease was just dripping from the pizza. Have washed my hands twice and still feel like there's grease on my fingers. Good delivery time and friendly delivery man. I've had a lot of pizza in the midtown/downtown area and the best I've found so far is pizza love. more

Reason Enough to Live in Houston 4/23/2010

Having been a total Ponzo's addict for about 5 years now, I have to say that it's hands down my go-to place for great pizza or even my cheese ravioli cravings! Having Ponzo's in the neighborhood is good enough reason for me to live in midtown. The convenience of having it delivered to your favorite local watering hole or just picking it up on a lazy Sunday is heaven. There's nothing like sitting on the porch on a nice day at Lil' Woodrow's and having your favorite food delivered to you. Pros: Consistent and Generous toppings Cons: Parking, closed on Mondays more

Authentic NYC pizza just greasy enough to cure all ails 3/9/2010

If you have ever strolled down NYC's Arthur Ave. with a folded over slice of pepperoni bigger than your face that is dripping grease down your chin and you were incredibly happy about this, than Ponzo's is for you. If that though does not make you smile, stick to some of our town's other fine pizza joints. Hands down the best NYC style pizza joint in town, this is the quintessential neighborhood dig for pizza that is just greasy enough to be comforting. If the black and white photos of Vito and Angelina on the wall don't put you in Queens, just chat up the owner who is usually found sitting at one of the inside tables. He will tell you the history of Ponzo's and launch into the details of their ingredients. This is a business that takes pride in its product. And for that man in your life that is never full, the Godfather sandwich ought to shut him up, for a while at least (worked on my ex). Don't be fooled by the strip mall. These joints, SuperCuts aside, represent some fine home-grown businesses. Neighbor Coffee Groundz is a hub for local start-ups and place to grab post pizza dessert. more

BEST PIZZA EVER-Hands down! 9/25/2009

We have been dedicated Ponzos customers since they opened 8 years ago. We lived in midtown at the time and they (like us) were pioneers to the midtown movement. They treat their customers right by adding a touch of love to every single pizza. We tried everything from their salads to sandwiches. Try the Godfather. It is perfect for game days!!! Pros: Decedance at its best Cons: Wish they would expand to other parts of the city more

Best Mushroom Pizza in Houston 8/30/2008

Ponzo has some amazing pizza. We always get the mushroom. They saute the mushrooms with herbs so they have an extra kick to them. I've always liked pizza, but I love Ponzo's pizza. The owner is usually behind the counter helping to answer phones and ensure quality. He is a very nice guy and always says hello. It is located in the heart of midtown and the inside seating is limited. There is space outside on the patio that you can eat. It's located next to a bar so beer is easily accessible. At one point we moved to The Woodlands and we were lost without Ponzos. Now we are located back in midtown and very glad to only be a short walk away from great pizza. We refuse to eat pizza anywhere else in Houston. Pros: PIZZA!, Service, Quality Cons: Parking could be an issue but there are designated spaces more

Heck yeah, give me a large big boy!!! 6/8/2008

Ponzo's has the best pizza I've ever had. Their 'big boy', which is topped with all sorts of meat, is to die for (long as you don't suffer from high BP or clogged arteries, because they will be clogged afterwards!). Their staff is friendly and delivery has always been within the specified time frame. Pros: PIZZA, service Cons: can't think of any more

I HEART Ponzo's 1/30/2007

I love Ponzo's pizza. I eat their pizza at least once a week. I have to say, the way they saute their mushrooms before they put them on the pizza just adds to the delicious combination of flavors. I also love they way they include parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes with the pizza. more

Best Pie West of the Mississippi 1/18/2007

I had been eating at Ponzos at least once a week (more likely 2 times a week) for the past 3 years. After being introduced to this marvelous joint from a friend who used to work there several years ago--I have been addicted. I am a very picky eater, and almost important as the quality of finished product is the freshness/quality of ingredients, and the cleanliness of the facility. Upon my first entrance I noticed how clean everything was--the huge kitchen which swallows the majority of space is always shining and all the equipment looks new. I dont have OCD or germaphobia in any form--but after 10+ years in the restaurant industry--i am very realistic and skewed by cleanliness and preperation--and I have never seen any Pizza joint that rivals Ponzos--or many 5 star restaurants for that matter. While you can take a short drive up to Franks for some Pie with Cocroaches baked right in the crust (actually happened on one of my visits--of course Ponzos was closed)--or head down the street to Late Night Poo for their overpriced and flavorless pizza--but Ponzos is the only place that serves great quality at a great price repeatadely. I am in SoCal currently--and after trying several of the local shops here I am about to abandon all hope--so I will go on a Pizza fast effective immediately until the next time I am in Houston--unless I can somehow talk Pete or Chris to freeze and ship some real pie out to SD. Its not one of those places that puts up a front as you walk in the door, they do pizza and do it right--which adds to its appeal, feels like a real NY pizza shop--their focus isnt on the decorations or atmosphere--it is soely focused on the PIE--EAT IT! Loads of good sandwiches and pasta dishes too! Cheers! Pros: Great Pie every time, family run, friendly staff and owners, value, service/on time, menu selection Cons: They are so good they can afford to do what they want--which sometimes leaves you craving on random days they close down more

I love this place!!! 11/6/2006

This is a place I frequent at least once a week! I always pick up, as the delivery tends to take a while, but it is well worth it! The pizza is absolutely amazing, I am generally a thicker crust type of pizza eater but this thin crust is probably the best pizza I have ever tasted. Once you go to this place a couple of times, they remember your name and your regualr order, and they couldn't be nicer! The price is also great! Pros: amazing pizza, great price Cons: sometimes randomly closed more

Best Pizza in Houston 7/2/2006

I love Ponzos!! They are friendly and have excellent! Located close to my home and right on the outskirts of Mid Town!! I love this place. There sauce is to die for!! I love just the tradiditonal pepporoni pizza! delicious!!! :) Pros: Very excellent in every way! Cons: closed mondays( i always crave Ponzos on a Monday) more

It's the dough 5/19/2006

The twice baked pizza, the Sicilian is one of the many great pizzas Ponzo's offers. I realized after eating quite a bit that it had no meat, which is a new thing for a pizza I consider this good. Basicly anything involving their pizza dough is among my favorite pizza. You can find competitive pizza across town quality wise, but they always charge silly prices...Ponzo's happens to be close by the downtown area AND it's reasonable prices. Aces for authenticity. Pros: Consistent, Excellent Food, Value Cons: Mondays..CRY more

Pizza 6/13/2005

Great pizza and meatball sub. Service is great. The smell when you walk in is the best. Smells like a NYC pizzeria. more

New York Pizza in Houston! 3/2/2005

We moved here from NY a year ago, and Ponzo's is a saving grace. Makes us feel like we are home. Best pizza around and the staff is so friendly! GReat all around! Pros: Good food, delivery, great staff Cons: not open Monday more

Houston's Best Pizza 1/17/2005

Growing up in the Northeast we have been searching for pizza that was as good as the authentic italian pies of our youth. We found it at Ponzo's. Their pizza is superb and can easily compete with anything NYC can offer. If you love pizza the way we do you'll be forever grateful you went to Ponzo's. Order your pie and have it delivered next door to the Dog House tavern. Pros: Inexpensive, Very Friendly, Good Parking more
