This teeny restaurant, housed in the old village of Brown Deer, is like coming home to mom's kitchen table...If mom lived in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The long, curvey formica counter, staffed usually by two or three wait staff, is condusive to chatting-it-up with your fellow counter mates, or not. It is possible to have an intimate conversation, even at a counter, if your body language says so. Water is placed down in less than 3 minutes along with fresh, mild salsa and chips. Drinks aren't far behind. The small menu changes daily with affordable fish and meat specials. But the staples, fish tacos made with delicate white fish, flavorful chicken tacos in soft shells, a colorful house salad made with black beans, corn and pine nuts and other Mexican fare is solid and fresh, fresh, fresh!!! Milwaukee's rich and famous stop in for take out or a bite to eat. The eatery boarders tony River Hills so people watching can be very interesting.
Pros: Tasty food, great ambience, good parking and beautiful terrace in the summer
Cons: No credit cards.
