Best Italian Brunch Anywhere! 10/7/2008

I have been eating at Po for dinner for years and the food, service, wine and atmospher get better every time I go. I am stunned that they are able to still impress me after all these years with their unbeleivable food, amazing wine and now incredible brunch! GO GO GO GO GO! The traditional egg fritatas are to die for, washed down with a proseco you feel like you are in Italy..... this is the best food experience yet! Reservations for dinner are nearly impossible, I highly reccommend their brunch to get a taste of the food. YUMMMMMMMMY! more

DELICIOUS FOOD!! 8/20/2008

I went here the other night and had a fabulous time. The dining room was tightly packed but my date and I lucked out by getting the seat next to the window so it was very intimate and romantic. We had the gorgonzola pine nut crusted salad with arugula and beets which was very unique and delicious and I ordered the black fettucine with mussels, sundried tomatoes, green chilis and scallions! It was amazingly yummy and I HIGHLY reccomend trying this place. It's definitely all about the food at this place. The overall ambiance is very chic New York without trying too hard and it is in a great location in the middle of the West Village. My date got the gnocchi and although my dish turned out to be the real winner both of us were happily pleased. Also we just stepped in at 8:45 pm on a Wed night and were seated immediately. It was busy but if there are seats open you will get one. I also did not feel rushed at all. The waiters were wonderful. When trying to decide between two of the white wines the waiter poured us a taste of each to decide. It was a very nice touch. It was beautiful night. Pros: Wonderful and DELICIOUS FOOD. Service is attentive and excellent. Cons: None. more

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous 7/1/2008

The chef's tasting menu here is really the best deal in town. The food is fantastic and for $50 it's tough to beat. The service was good, the many courses were exciting and for dessert, they brought each of us a different item so that we could taste a bit of everything: I thought that was a really nice touch. For a crowded and busy place, no one tried to rush us; although I was a bit annoyed that they sat us next to the kitchen in spite of the reservation I'd made, it was true that our party was one person short of what I'd reserved for. This did not get in the way of our meal. Pros: good food, good tasting menu, friendly and efficient service Cons: a bit tightly packed more

yummy! 9/21/2007

Po is hands down my favorite place. I've gone many times and have always had the best experience. The service is always friendly and attentive and the waiter even remembered us last time and graced us with an amazing and free sundae:) The pasta is amazing and the white bean bruschetta is addicting. My boyfriend and I always have the best time, as does everyone else I've taken there. Pros: Romantic and delicious Cons: Really can't think of one at all. more

Great, great, great food - you can taste the love in every bite! 8/3/2007

First review for me - i usually recommend by word of mouth - but I cant explain how delicious our experience was with each plate. I'd deem myself a foodie - been to most of the event dining spaces and have plenty of locals that I love. I've been wanting to cross this one off the list for a while, but it might have a permanent ranking at the top. If you're curious, make a reservation - on Tues we made a Thurs res for 9:00. Walked in at 9:02 and we were seated straight away. Great host, totally gracious server and everything came out quickly. Overall, I didnt feel like I was on a crazy food adventure - most foods were simple, traditional italian dishes. But each plate tasted like it was homemade and it was so fresh. It felt like it was thrown together magically in seconds, rather than prepped the day before by an army of cooks in the (tiny) kitchen in the back. Pros: Great food, good service (waitress was very attentive), good wine selection Cons: couldnt find any more

Great food great service 5/31/2007

yummy food in a great setting 5/2/2007

my boyfriend and i came here for dinner and we both loved it. food was delicious--I had an excellent porcini-crusted cod and he had the orichette. both were wonderful, although the pasta portion was a bit large. service was excellent, and the setting cozy and romantic. my only advice is to go early to try to snag one of the three tables in front of the windows--they're awesome for people watching. Cons: need reservations more

Never disappoints 4/19/2007

Last night was my third visit to Po and the food, as usual, was delicious. Service was excellent - at the restaurant's consistent standard. I had the lamb cooked medium rare with eggplant, the lamb was juicy, tasty and left me totally satisfied. I thought the eggplant accompaniment was so-so due to the skin's chewy texture but flavorings were perfect. My friend had the pork - I found it ever so slightly dry (but pork's often like that). The salad appetizer was simple but good, it wasn't saturated in oily dressing but came with an excellent vinegarette on the side. There are so many choices along that street and Po is a favorite I've no problem returning to. more

yummy tasting menu, yummy wine, great service 3/6/2007

Had the tasting menu which is a steal at $40, 6 courses.. dessert was bad tho. =( but otherwise, the food was delicious, the wine was great, and our waiter was soooo nice, and treated me and my friend very well. lovely place, would definitely come back. more

shaky floor causes unsettling evening... 1/11/2007

The food was delicious. One problem....the floor. I had an uncomfortable experience because the floors of the restuarant are very shaky so whenever anybody walked by my chair (which was often because the restaurant maybe sits 40 people) my chair would go up and down. By the end of the night I was so naucious that I couldnt even eat the good food... more

Absolutely the best! 11/11/2006

When my family or friends are visiting me from out of town I always take them here. Place is very small and intimate which I love. It's really refreshing compared to other huge and loud ""it"" restaurants. I absolutely love their pasta. You can pretty much order anything from the menu and you'll be pleased. Waiters are very nice. Their desserts are to die for. I love their affogato. You should definitely try it. more

Excellent service! 10/27/2006

Good food, romantic setting 10/21/2006

This past Friday I took my wife here for her birthday and it was a very good choice. The setting is very romantic and the service very attentive and friendly. The food was good, but not amazing. We started with a watercress salad that was very good and a meatball appetizer that was ok. Then the pasta with a braised lamb ragu was very good. We got two entrees which were ok. One was a special of the day white tuna covered in a tomato based sauce which was a bit salty and not that creative. We also got the lamb steak which was pretty good but strangely reminiscent of a shwarma because of the combination of flavors. Pros: Romantic Cons: Mediocre entrees, the waiter forgot my wife's b-day candle more

Phenomenal restaurant! 6/11/2006

We went to Po this past weekend and had one of the best dining experiences ever. The service was incredible, the waiter was extremely helpful with choosing a wine and describing each dish in great detail. We were seated immediately, although I highly recommend a recommendation as Po is a small restaurant. We had the six course tasting menu. Every course was delicous. It included a salad, two pasta dishes, a main dish, a cheese plate and two deserts to die for. At $48 per person, I found it to be a bargain. You will be highly impressed and like us talk about going back before you even leave the restaurant. Pros: Food, Tasting Menu, Ambience more

You will not be disappointed 12/1/2005

I have been to Po three times over the last few years and it has been consistently great. Historically best experiences have been when I ordered the Chefs tasting menu. This time around was no exception. Each course was very good, especially the pumpkin ravioli. At $48 per person it's a bargain. The wine list is also very reasonable too. The good service started from the moment we walked in the front door. Give it a try, you will not be disappoined ! Pros: Food, Ambience, Service more

Great pasta in a quaint neigherborhood 12/1/2005

What got us to try this restaurant in the first place is the old man that sits by the front everynight. He's very friendly and tells you stories of famous folks that have come to his family's restaurant. Tells people he's the 'mayor of the block'. So cute! Go inside and the great service starts at the door. They let us sit even though we only had 2 out of a party of 4 - the restaurant was packed but they honor reservations (unlike a lot of restaurants). The gnocci is made fresh daily, and tastes so light. They mix is with pieces of fresh cut mozerella right before they serve it to you piping hot. After you start eating, the cheese starts to melt and ads a lot of flavor. Yum. Great wine list with an extra expensive selection for all you big spenders. Pros: Honors reservations, Great staff Cons: Small, Can get loud more

Great place to end our trip 11/28/2005

We ate here on our last night in NYC. It was perfect. We had one of the tables by the window and if you go I would recommend requesting one of these. It was an outstanding value for NYC. We had a nice bottle of wine, dinner, and dessert for under $200. The mussels and clams were fresh and my only complaint was there were only six mussels...I could've eaten a dozen. The steak I had was perfectly cooked and I've never had a flank steak this tender. It was a perfect meal and I would definately go back again. Pros: location, inexpensive Cons: crowded more

Best ambience, not best food, of Battali's places 11/12/2005

Cornelia Street looks like a Broadway set for West Side Story and the inside of Po is so cool & quaint you really can't top the setting for a romantic dinner in NYC. Just don't take the seat between the bar and the back half of the restaurant, i saw a woman get nudged 40times sitting there. Anyway, food is great, creative, fresh as always with Battali....yet my combo of dishes were too salty....the waiter couldn't fill my water glass enough. The white bean brushetta to start was incredible and the pasta was phenomenal. I almost think you can get away with a salad & pasta....by the time you get to the entrees you are struggling to finish, given the decent portion sizes of salads, pasta plus the bread & brushetta to start. Pros: Ambience, Wine List, Wait Staff Cons: Salty, A lot of food more
