Don't buy a birthday party package there 12/6/2010

The place is good for an afternoonn of skating, but forget the overpriced birthday parties. You will just be paying about 70-100.00 to sit at a table and the kids will hardly be at the table anyway. We had a terrible experience doing a birthday party here. We would have been far better off taking them to a fast food place to eat and just gong skating. The table is not worth paying for. They have made this very expensive. more

Not a safe place 10/18/2010

If you're willing to take a chance on being robbed, feel free to go to this place. My husband took my daughter to a birthday party here and when they got to the parking lot, found that someone had smashed a rear window on his truck and stole his briefcase and my son's football equipment out of the back seat. When he went back inside to report it and ask someone to call the police, he was told that "the police never catch these guys" and that this happens several times every month. Knowing this, their security consists of one of their employees walking out to the parking lot a couple of times a night. more

Playland Skating Rink 11/14/2005

I had a birthday party here years ago. I don't know what they charged for it, but I believe it was good deal as far as partys go. They have skate rentals, music, lights, and a snack bar. They do not allow outside food or drink to be brought in with you. The place is a little run down, but it's still fun. more

Could use some remodeling 11/5/2005

I've been to this skating rink several times with my students from class. The building is old so it looks dirtier than maybe it actually is. I still think it could use a good cleaning and a bit of remodeling. Prices were reasonable and had plenty of parking The children had fun so that is what was important. PROS: Prices are reasonable CONS: A bit too old and seemed dirty more

Skating 11/5/2005

This place is located off 183 behind Burnet. The place is old and rather run down, but it is still worth the visit if you are up for skating. They have a snack bar to visit and rental skates. Once a week in the evenings they offer an adult skate night and play oldschool music for the adults that have the urge to take a trip down memory lane to the old days of skating and music in a social setting. more

Great for Childrens Bday Parties 11/2/2005

I had my daughters birthday party here. It was very easy to set up. Everything was ready when we got there. The skating floor is large. The DJ plays special birthday songs for the guests. He also plays a variety of music and does skating games. There is arcade games for anyone who doesn't want to skate. This is an older building so it sometimes looks more dirty than I hope it is. more

Older Nostalgic skating rink! 9/10/2005

This is an older skating rink with a huge skate floor. The decor is nostalgic with lots of lighting and disco ball lighting as well. They also sell skates and extra accessories. (this is a regular skating rink, not an ice skating rink). During the week it doubles as a Bingo Hall (mornings and mid-afternoon). It's a great old building and the kids really enjoy it. The snack bar is small (but the food and snacks are great) and the restrooms are for little people - stalls are not built for adults! PROS: Great Old skating rink - Tons of space! CONS: Bathrooms stalls are tiny! more

Good Space, Bad Tunes 11/12/2002

I'm really glad there's a rink in town that has adult skate night, even though they recently jacked up their price for admission. The rink itself is decent, but they play the same songs every week, so it gets kind of boring. I don't mind 80s music, but there's some garbage mixed in with it. They could try replacing the garbage with some good modern rock or electronic music. (Not into the lewd R&B or sappy ballads either.) Oh yeah, and they took out the tetris arcade game--NOT COOL!! Pros: Adult Skate Cons: Crustilicious Music, Lack of Tetris more

Good but could use improvement 9/19/2002

This is the best of the rinks in Austin (and surrounding area) I was kind of dissappointed in the diversity of music. It has a fairly large skate area, which is also used for roller hockey and bingo center. I think this place would been 100% if the floors were professionally done regularly as the floor gets flooded from time to time and has cracks. Pros: Adult Night, Large Floor, Decent Light Effects Cons: Floor has cracks, Music isn't diverse, Building is run-down more
