Terrible!! 8/5/2013

This is an awful store. I brought in close to a hundred items, almost all of them being designer, and they only agreed to buy 4. They passed up my Versace T-shirt with the tags still on and a brand new pair of Michael Kors pumps, but were interested in buying an old target tank top with sweat stains that a friend left at my house two years ago and a damaged pair of express shorts. They are a huge rip-off! I saw a disgusting, dirty, out of style pair of flats from Target for $20. They truly do not know fashion. However, this came in helpful when my mom purchased a Dooney & Bourne bag for $16 with the tags still on only to come home, do a little research, and discover it is an original vintage and worth over $600. Do not shop here! more

Questionable policy on personal information 10/29/2009

I took in 2 pairs of shoes today to see if they would buy them. Before they will even tell you if they will consider your item they require you to provide full name, address, phone number & drivers license. In today’s age of rampant identify theft I see no reason a company would log such personal data before saying if they were interested. I do understand keeping records of how much someone brings in, but requiring a DL number to be logged in their system before they will express interest at all is suspect & target for identity theft hackers. more

Lousy customer service and pricing. Rude employees, and very disorganized. I've been to other Plato's Closets but this one was very disapointing. more

Bring In Clothes, Take Out Cash! 9/21/2005

Plato's Closet is a teen/young adult resale shop located in the Tanasbourne Shopping Center. You can bring in your own clothing, shoes, and accessories for them to purchase. They are picky and only want very current, trendy styles from the last year in excellent condition. It is hard to know exactly what they will want to buy. I have sold there many times and have been suprised each time. On a few occasions, I have been certain that they would or probably would not want certain items I was bringing in; it turned out to be the opposite. You don't get a lot of cash for your items, but enough to make it worth the trip. You can acutally take in-store credit and receive 10% more than what they would have given you in cash. The store does have some nice things. If you are trying to make some cash, don't look around! You will probably find something you want to buy! Lol! The staff is very friendly, there is room to walk around, and they have music playing. more

Clothing deals and bargains 8/19/2005

Second hand store that sells only designer labels. They sell gently used things that teens would be looking for. They will buy your clothes, and accessories on the spot for cash provided they’re in good shape and they are a current designer label. They will even take books, CD’s, frames, etc. Trouble is, what’s in Plato’s closet often isn’t there until its out of style. more
