Subpar service 2/5/2011

I think everyone on this review listing will agree that getting through their phone lines is near impossible, which is completely unacceptable for two main reasons. Firstly, they are difficult to find using a GPS! and Secondly, they were not busy AT ALL when I arrived. There were two girls with me in the waiting room, and about five or more people behind the counters ""working""! You cannot hear the phone ringing at all, but you know that it is. The nurse was warm toward me, and even though I was 10 minutes late (because they wouldn't answer their phone so I could figure where the place was sooner), they still saw me. Overall, all I needed was birth control. I'm from a different state, and all I needed to do at my last clinic was walk-in, wait for a max of 30 mins, get examined quickly, and walk out with 3 MONTHS of birth control for free. With this place, let's see. I got frustrated because they would never answer their phone (when I needed to change my appointment to a different day), received a pep talk about how my boyfriend needed to be more responsible about using condoms because ""pulling out"" isn't a method (uhm, no duh, that's why he's here paying a hundred bucks for one month of birth control! it was insulting). The obygyn was biased obviously with her pro-life postings everywhere in her office and they encouraged me to come in for a testing later on to see if I was pregnant, but why in the hell would I pay 50 or so dollars when I could just get a period? I think her pro-life stance would affect my choice of going back if ever I were pregnant. Not only that, but the pep-talk about being responsible was in no way called for. We were paying for this service and we both have jobs and pay rent! Really was an unsatisfactory experience across the board, save the one brief encounter I had with a kind nurse. more

Unable to conduct business 2/22/2010

I went here and had a nice experience with the NP. The office lady is extremely rude, I think she is pregnant though maybe that is why. I have REPEATEDLY tried to reach them to make an appointment to get birth control after they gave me some that made me sick. You can COUNT ON any given day, that the phone lines will be tied up and busy. They evidently do not know how to conduct business in a professional manner, do not care about their patients, or need a multi-line phone. If they are wanting to plan parenthood, they need to do their jobs and let people get the things they need done. I guess this is to be expected for a place that caters to the ""low income"" people without insurance. Pros: NP is nice Cons: Read below more

worst customer service 1/16/2008

I went to planned parenthood on Jan. 15, 2008 expecting nice, understanding people. I called them with an emergency because I found a lump in my breast. She got me in right away, and that?s when I explained to her that I had no money and no health care. She then told me not to worry because all I had to do was bring in a check stub, an id, my birth certificate and my children?s Medicaid letter and the whole thing would be free. I was also very taken aback when I got there and they told me since I was an ""emergency case"" I would be seen right away. Mistaken, it wasn't until an hour and a half later that they realized they haven't even given me any papers to fill out. Meanwhile, by the way, my two little kids where starting to fuss and scream because of the long wait. Finally I was seen by a doctor and she said that she can refer me to another doctor that is a beast specialist. I go to check out and they give me a very hard time because I didn't know the exact income my husband made monthly because he worked off commission. I keep asking them if I needed to call him and have him fax them some kind of proof of income and they were not even listening. They were very rude saying stuff like ?how do you not know what your husband makes.? I tried to explain that he makes money some months and makes nothing another. Then they proceeded to tell me I owned them money. When I told the nurse that when I called they said if I brought all those things they needed, the visit was to be free. She then said rudely ?Nothing is free.? I then called my husband and was able to tell the nurse an average number he makes per month. After that I asked how much I owed them and with an awful tone she said, nothing. That whole thing was completely uncalled for and there was no reason for their behavior. I will never go to that clinic again. When I finally left 2 1/2 housrs later my kids were screaming and I was late for work. I thought these clinics are made to help women? Pros: for women in need Cons: sadley they don't help you very well more

Rude and Unhelpful! 7/30/2007

I've had extremely pleasant experiences at Planned Parenthoods in Austin and in Dallas. In fact, they've been so nice I prefer them to my regular doctor. They have always been informative, affordable, and if they can't help me they'll refer me to someone else. So I was SHOCKED at the treatment I received when I called this one! Their tone of voice wasn't even friendly. They were rude from ""Hello"". I explained that I have run out of birth control pills and need a prescription/appointment ASAP. They said the soonest they could get me in was in a month. Um . . . I'm out of birth control and need help. Isn't there mission to prevent unplanned pregnancies? I asked to be on a waiting list . . . there is none. What's worse is they weren't even considerate. In fact, after I said that I was in a bind and didn't know what to do until they could get me in -- they were totally silent. They didn't give me ANY REFERRALS! Not to another one of their clinics, or another doctor. They had offered no suggestions to what I should do in the meantime. Now, for all they knew I was a scared, confused teenager who didn't know where else to go to. I called back again and again. No one was nice to me. A few times I said I was ""in trouble"" and needed an appointment ""asap"" they didn't even ask what my trouble was and, again, said they couldn't help me for months. Again, no referral. Not even a cheerful voice. I have donated a lot of time and money to this organization and always refer people to them. I was appalled at how apathetic they were. Again, what if I were a scared pregnant teenager? Or a teenager trying to prevent pregnancy and didn't know where to turn? They could have helped prevent an unwanted pregnancy . . . but they didn't care. I was nothing but a bother to them. I was nice and told them I needed a doctor. Again, they were totally silent! I mean, c'mon, say something at least! Every other clinic I have been to was wonderful. These people made me disgusted! more
