I recently started a tattoo with Travis and I should probably explain that it was my first one. I didn't know what to expect and I was nervous after every thing I had read on here. However, I spoke with Travis on the phone and he was genuinely excited to work on my tattoo and overall got me excited about going to Planet Ink for said tattoo.
I had the same first impression as many of the people on this site, but to be honest I had never been in a tattoo shop before. The location (in my humble opinion) sucks. I am not a big fan of down town. And the place is, for lack of a better word, a little drab. I am glad that I didn't hold that against them and gave them a chance.
The staff were all awesome. They answered every one of my questions. They waited patiently while I tracked down some cash. NOTE: CASH ONLY! While I was getting my tattoo done, all of the staff came back to see Travis's work. They all asked me how I was doing (I am pretty sure that they expected me to flake out and run for the hills, even mid tattoo!) All of them were quick to praise Travis on his work.
Travis, Travis, Travis!! My artist, was just that, a brilliant artist. His lines are supremely clean. His attention to detail (mine is a fairly complicated piece) was amazing. He took pride in his work and wanted it to be exactly what I had envisioned. He was comfortable to talk to and patient with me, when I needed a moment (which was only a couple of times during a fairly long session).
So all in all, thank you Travis, and thank you Planet Ink Tattoo. I will see you all in a couple of weeks, so we can finish up the tattoo!
To the rest of you, come down, meet the staff, talk with the artists, and see if you feel comfortable with them. If you get a bad feeling, don't stay. But, if you are like me, you will give them a chance, and be happy with the results!
Pros: Clean lines. patient, beautiful tattoo
