Yeah - pretty much as good as everybody says 2/20/2009

I have heard a lot about this place and it is only four blocks from my home so I had to try it and it is pretty damn good. No, it isn't that thick crust, Round Table kind of thing - if you want thick crust this is not the place. If you want a huge selection, this is not the place. But as far as great food, a simple menu, a charming spot and great staff - well it is all those things. Pros: Amazing and inventive thin crust pizza and fantastic salads Cons: limited wine list, small space more

My favorite pizza place 1/7/2009

Teeny tiny, cute & cozy. Fresh ingredients, light and crispy crust, and served fresh hot out of the oven. The pizza selections change frequently so it?s always interesting to go back there. Their salads and soups are also quite heavenly. more

best pizza in western SF 12/17/2008

tiny place, strange customer service, but wow, what pizza... I always have the regular Marguerita so I don't know all the other varieties, it's so good. Pros: pizza is the best around Cons: quirky, often indifferent staff, uneven service more

disapointing 8/19/2008

I've used City Search many times while traveling and have had good experiences. Recently and group of friends and I went to S.F. So of course I looked up restaraunts to check out. This establishment was very small and unacommadating. As a party of 5 we were told we could not sit together. We were okay with seperate tables, but when they informed us they couldn't guarantee our food at the same time it was strange. Apparently one pizza fits in the oven at a time? Come on! Trying to work with them, we asked for take out. Eating at Golden Gate park sounded awesome. ""We don't do take out."" They were rude and extremely snobby. I have no idea if the pizza is worth the poor customer service. Because we couldn't get any! Next time take my pizza and put it the box that left overs go in! And I'll take it to go! more

Pizzetta 211- be your own waiter! 5/10/2008

The atmosphere and delicious ingredients, particularly great cheeses, are what this place has going for it. For the price, however, I did not expect to serve as my own waiter. There were as many staff members as there were customers present (small place, only 4 tables) and yet we were expected to get our own silverware and napkins, refill our own water, etc. Don't get me wrong- I'm not the type to generally demand that others wait on me, but at $15 per pizza I kinda thought service was included. Well, I guess that's 15% you can save on the tip! Pros: ingredients, atmosphere Cons: lack of service, value more

Great, very tiny, pizza spot. 3/2/2008

I've always been blown away by their food. I've probably visited about 5 or 6 times now. It is obvious they use quality ingredients and that they make their pizza with care. One of the posters here has obviously not been in San Francisco long if they're complaining about lack of parking and not being seated until their whole party is present. I'd really like you to give me a restaurant worth visiting that has parking, or will seat an incomplete party (other than a huge chain restaurant or something). It is a *tiny* restaurant, as in 4 indoor tables and 4 outdoor with a few seats at the counter. How would that be ok to have a partial party sit waiting, when there are others who can be seated in total? Come on people, use your noggin. Pros: Great thin crust pizza, lovely ambience, good music playing Cons: The wait (it is a very small place) more

Love Pizzetta 11/1/2007

My husband and I were afraid to take our two-year old daughter to Pizzetta after reading some of the reviews (about how rude the staff can be). We've now been three times and they have always been exceptionally nice and helpful. Super thin crust pizza and amazing/interesting speciality pizzas that change daily...the kind of pizza we had while traveling in Italy and longed for in the States. The food is out of this world and in my opinion, so is the staff (so far, so good at least!). more

Horrible service, rude waiters, not worth it 9/11/2007

Well, The pizza is good but no food is worth being treated as a second class citizen. I live around the corner and have been several times until they were so rude I just could not reward them with my business any longer. For instance, what is their policy on take away? Sometimes they do it and sometimes they dont. I supposeI could live with this if their response was cordial. But, it seems they expect you to know when they feel like accomodating take away orders and when they dont. Pros: Pizza is good Cons: No parking, not able to be seated until whole party is there, rude service more

Cracker Crust Pizza 7/15/2007

I think this was a coffee shop that couldn't make it so they turned to making pizza. Everyone had an attitude and the pizza was more of a cracker topped with cheese than pizza. Not a smile in sight from the staff the entire time we were there. Be sure to wear your beret. Pros: pine nuts Cons: employees more

simple and tasty 4/18/2007

Felt like a small hole-in-the-wall place you would find roaming the neighborhood streets of Italy. Maybe the staff read an earlier review - because they were extremely attentive, friendly and pleasant. It's a tiny place - so realize it'll be cramped. Maybe you have to clear your own dishes or hand them to the waiter - no biggee, as long as you get a seat and can dig in to the pizzas, daily salads and desserts. Worth the trip. Pros: food Cons: small more

should you really endure the rudeness for great pizza? 3/12/2007

pizzetta 211 reminds me of the great seinfield episode - you know the one about the SOUP !!!! Pros: food Cons: service more

demoralizing service 1/13/2007

The food is terrific, but I felt TERRIBLE after simply trying to buy a pizza from the people behind the counter. Pros: food Cons: the people who work there more

Everybody seems to be right 1/4/2007

How can all of the widely varying reviews be right about this place? The pizzas are incredible. And the service exudes a negative energy at times. Yes. Both are true. The menu is limited, but that means they can concentrate on perfection. The owners nailed a niche opening in the neighborhood and execute on it very well. It could be bigger, but part of the ambiance is the small number of closely drawn tables. Pros: Pizza perfection, intimate setting Cons: Wow it's crowded! more

Top 5 Restaurants 11/18/2006

What is not to like about this place? The pizzas are done in the great Neopolitan style with thin crust and fresh, unique, changing ingriedients. In addition, all ingriedients, whenever possible, are organic, free range and from local farms; the way food was meant to be. The menu and wine list is small but creative. The space is quaint and warm with a hint of romance and reminds of sitting in my cousin's kitchen in Tuscany. The wait staff was pleasant and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there. One warning: It is easy to get carried away and before you know it you find yourself with a hundred dollar tab for two. Well worth it though. Now go. Pros: Ambience, Food more

Pricey Pizza 11/9/2006

Even though their pizza are great, staffs are rude and unfriendly. Menu are somewhat pricey. Pizza is small; kids can eat two whole pizza. Very small place and difficult to find parking. Pros: Pizza Cons: Service, Rude Staff, Too Small Place more

Avoid this place 9/24/2006

This place has bad vibes and extremely negative energy. more

Lousy service, limited seating, irritating crowd 9/23/2006

The food is pretty good, but closer to $$ than $ and it really doesn't make up for the service. The staff are unattentive and rude. The place has a romantic setting and might have a charming ambiance, but it's always stuffed to the hilt with irritating yuppies who think they've found a neighborhood treasure and are eager to believe it. Really, you can get better pizza for less money in the city and have a much better experience. Keep looking. :) more

Prepare to wait for a seat 7/27/2006

After reading countless negative reviews about customer service ( my #1 restaurant peeve ) and therefore procrastinating on making the two block walk to this little pizza cafe, I finally made it over there. Yes the place is tiny with only four tables inside and another four out on the sidewalk, we were lucky to arrive early at about 7pm and grab a table right off. The staff were friendly and didn't rush us. The place is very low key and unpretentious with a rustic ambiance, wine is served up in small glass cups, no fancy crystal here. Pros: Fresh unique flavors, imaginative flavors Cons: Very few tables and seating, crowded more

incredible pizza, no service 7/13/2006

I have to agree with the other folks, the pizza there is amazing. It's very delicate and the crust is great if you're into crispy. However, there really is no service. We sat outside and the entire experience was self service. My friend had to go get the menu, napkins and flatware. If you pay the going rate for dinner, which they charge, service should be included. At the end, the waiter gave us a really nasty look when we didnt put any money in the tip jar. I'm sorry, but if you don't do anything, you don't get a tip. I'll be back for the pizza, however, in a mask! Pros: romantic on foggy nights, sleepy and charming, great food Cons: terrible service and somewhat snotty yuppy crowd more
