This place is kinda punk rock (which means they don't care), but I've always loved their big slices and flavorful sauce. Haven't braved the gluten-free dough yet, but I'm very curious. more

Horrible Service, Okay Music 11/22/2009

I want to start out by saying that I have been to New York, I have been to Chicago, I have been to Cleveland, Boston, Detroit, and Pittsburgh so if anybody knows what ""bad service"" or ""rude employees"" are, it's me. The fact of the matter is that this is Portland and as a result those arguments do not apply. I have been to Pizza Oasis twice now and I assure you that I am never going back. I entered a completely empty restaurant with a friend and ordered 2 slices of pizza, my date ordered one of the starter items on the menu. For drinks we ordered a water and a lemonade. The lemonade arrived quickly although the water for some reason never made an appearance. It was at least a good 20 minutes before my friends dish arrived and another 20 more before my 2 slices finally came. This wait was not eased at all by the fact that while waiting for our food we watched a group of 3 come in to the restaurant, sit down, order, receive their food, eat, and leave. I am simply astonished at how long it took to receive our food. If you then stack on top of that the fact that I never received my drink, the free refills had to be requested at the front counter, the food is some of the greasiest I have ever seen, the card reader for debit and credit refused to work, the fact that there was only one employee to be seen at any given time (if that), and that I got to watch the employees smoke outside my window AND watch a homeless man rummage through the restaurants trash, I would have to say that this is an experience that I would find unacceptable regardless of the city in which I was in. Frankly, the only things I could find that the restaurant had going for it were the ""okay"" music and the decently large slice size. Despite those two factors you would be better off walking the couple extra blocks and getting a fresh pizza made from ""Eat Pizza"" across from Hollywood Video near Burnside and 20th, it would take less time and in all honesty be better. OR if you are feeling active, you can also use that amount of time to walk to the 7-11 over by Portland State, at least they have Slurpees. Pros: ""Okay"" music, decent portion sizes Cons: Lots. more

Great way to fail 6/12/2009

Call in @ 10PM to get a pizza. First off I can barely understand a single word because they've got the music absolutely blasting. Now I'm a fan of very loud music but not when I have to say everything 2 or more times to get anything across. Then the price was different from what the online price was. Instead of taking 45min to and hour it was 1hour&45min and by that time the pizza was cold and smashed to one side as if had been set on its side. I hate complaining like this but I'm sure this pizza would have been great if everything didn't happen as it did. but it did and this place (city search wont let me use the words that I want to use.) Pros: Better than Dominoes Cons: Just about everything more

Absolute best pizza, especially at this price 1/21/2009

This is the best place for pizza in Portland. The wonderful mural might be even more fun to look at than the hypnotic stream of Burnside traffic, but service or atmosphere is not why this place is here. This is the very best pizza I've had in my life. The crust is thick and crispy, so if that's not your thing I can understand if you prefer others, but few other let you build your own slice. With only a few of your favorite toppings added, even just a single slice will leave you perfectly sated (and I'm no micro-stomach starving hipster). Even if you are in a group and inclined to order a pizza out of habit, I would still advise you all go wild and build your own slices - somehow they seem a bit more substantial, it means there's no compromises, and if you get just 3 toppings it often ends up being cheaper. Other than that, beer is served, which is nice, and pitchers are available, which is great, but I think I'd rather drink a 40oz in the street -- this place is great as somewhere to sit while you consume your fantastic pizza, and little more. Pros: best pizza for the best price, build your own slices Cons: the service seems like it's just there to keep the pizza-cook company more

great pizza - bad service 11/5/2008

It's true what many people have written about Pizza Oasis; the pizza is very good but the service is very poor. Inattentive service is one thing, but straight-up rude service is another. The ladies who work here have always given me nasty looks when I've walked in and it's not uncommon for them just to literally DROP your food onto the table and walk away. What gives? I'm always friendly and tip well. Is this anyway to treat people, let alone your customers? I've also waited up to 45 minutes for a slice of pizza here before (with no explanation or apology of course, just the same food-drop I've come to expect there.) And the salads are really lousy too. But alas, the pizza is so good! Come on ladies, I'm not asking you to jump through hoops or something, just basic decency. Pros: pizza Cons: abysmal service more

This pizza rocks!!! 6/16/2008

The pizza at Pizza Oasis is the best in town: from the crust to the sauce to the quality of ingredients. This place is not helping me to break my pizza addiction! more

Yum! MOSF 1/25/2008

This is my favorite pizza place in town. The slices are huge; the crust is crispy and chewy and wonderful. Staff is really friendly and they play good music. Thanks Pizza Oasis. See you in a few days, as usual. xoxox Pros: Pizza Cons: if i eat it every day i'll be poor and fat more

Realaxing Pizza, MMMMMmmm 7/7/2007

Simply AWESOME! There are complaints about service, it's a relaxed place take your time. It's a long wait for a slice, so i pick up a newspaper, order a pop, free refills, don't be afraid to ask. think of it like staying with family. I love The Meaty Chad. spicy and enough meat to hold me over. The speedy Gonzalez only if you are alone, they put a lot of garlic on, which my girlfriend didn't like :| It's a good place to Sit and study for an hour, sit and take friends to be filled up on a good meal. It is more than enough, they serve your pizza with a fork and knife. Price isn't bad. expensive, but it's not a cardboard crust or some lame pepperoni it's delicious! You get what you aid for and a $5 slice isn't bad at all. Pros: Great atmosphere, relaxing meal, GREAT pizza and breadsticks. Cons: time it takes, and the fact i'm not there now. more

Unfriendly and rude employees 5/29/2007

I agree with a couple of the previous comments made about this place. Their employees are rude and not very friendly. My husband and I sat down to eat and were not greeted promptly, and once we asked for someone to help us we were treated as if we were a problem child. No refills on our drinks, and we had to ask for our bill. Not once were we given a smile or a friendly greeting. Pros: good food and good location Cons: ill mannered employees more

Extremely bad customer service 5/28/2007

I cant believe the customer service I was given by this place. Pros: calzones are good. Cons: poor customer service, extremely nasty salads more

Worst place to eat!! 2/20/2007

I want to let people know to watch out for there food it is very good but you may get sick. I have been sick a few times only light stomach problems but my husband got deathly ill the other night. more

best slices and cheeeeeeeeeap! 12/11/2006

i love the cheese pizza slice. they start by-the-slice orders with an already cooked cheese pizza and add either more cheese for a cheese only slice-i think i would like to type the word cheese again-or add whatever topping you like, and there are many. we used to live nearby and go all the time and always had competent service. as for the unapologetic waitress mentioned in another review i assume she is of the same ilk as most northwesterners. i notice many people have an abnormal aversion to using their P's and Q's in these parts and for those of us who do it can appear ungracious. chef, greek and garden salad are all solid, the smalls are not small either. crust is neither too thick nor tnin and is good enough to finish the edge with some marinara. there is no atmosphere but that makes it ok to go out in your fat pants, sweatshirt or whatever monstrosity of fashion you were loafing about the house in. no hipsters, no scene just awesome pizza and PBR flows for very few dollahz. Pros: best by the slice pizza Cons: i find the whole pies to be less addictive than the slices, but still good more

My Favorite Pizza 11/29/2006

Pizza Oasis is by far my favorite pizza in Portland. They have single slices of cheese(which are bigger than at most pizzarias) for only two dollars! The waitresses there even know that I like a little bit of coke cola in my mister pibb and always fix up my soda just the way I like it. Great service, delicious pizza. more

Damn good!!! 10/14/2006

I can't remember the name of the pie we ate but all I remember was that it had a lot of feta on it and it was incredibly delectable. Very well done. more

Great food- Crap service 6/17/2006

The food here is some of the best I have ever had! The service.. not so much. There were a couple times we had a nice waiter, but most of the time, the staff is rude. Its really ashame because I havent been back since the last waitress was so awful to us and they messed up our food order. We ordered a pizza with no olives, and she brought it over.. Oh theres olives in it. She didnt even apologize. The prices are high! but worth it for the great food. Pros: food Cons: some staff, expensive more

my favorite for years 12/1/2005

People talk so much about ""NY Pizza"", trying to cling to some relic of their past or some life they wish they'd lived. Lighten up! Good food is good food, and Pizza Oasis is some of the best. I've been a regular for a couple of years; the food is consistently good and they have this ability to hire and retain the best employees. Go to Pizza Oasis--support good food and don't forget to TIP!! Pros: great food, friendly service more

Friendly service, great food 2/14/2004

Not only is the pizza great here, but their salads are pretty darn good as well. The service is always with a smile, no matter what time of day. The only annoying this is that they usually bring the pizza about 2 minutes after the salad, leaving one with the difficult decision of finishing the delicious salad or the equally delicious (but rapidly cooling) pizza. Pros: Inexpensive, Great service more

The best in the West 7/1/2003

Considering that I am a native New Yorker, I was very disapointed in the flavor of pizza when I moved to the west coast, unitl I ate at Pizza Oasis. This place has great pizza, I love it! This place has the best Pizza in all of Porltand! The service is friendly, they have beer on tap, and the pizza is great, they dont skimp on anything! Pros: Inexpensive, Can buy by the slice Cons: Parking more

Great pizza. 12/19/2002

This is a great place for pizza. It is nice enough to hang out in and drink some beers, but still cheap. You can order a freshly made single slice or a whole pie. They also have free delivery. I would say this place is a tie with Hot Lips. more

my oasis when i need that pizza fix 9/12/2002

i've been going to this place since 96, and have not yet been dissapointed. my advice is try a slice or two of the ""speedy gonzalez."" loads of garlic with cheddar and chorizo sausage. talk about your garlic fix when you need it! hot dang, you've got to love it! their salads are also very good, with lots of croutons and veggies. parking can be a pain in this neighborhood, and yes, sometimes i cheat and park at goodwill, but i always get my order to go, so no big deal. lots of good rags to read too if you dine in, or if you're waiting. the oasis gets my vote. Pros: great pizza, great salads, stuff to read Cons: parking more
