This place does not teach real pilates. It is all about the impression of being ""mind-body"" exercise, or even exercise at all. No substance to the teaching I received in a mat ...

Awesome 8/24/2011

I stumbled upon this find with a local school auction win; I had always wanted to try Pilates. In a short series of classes, I felt a noticeable change! With a few more classes, I felt sleeker in my over-40 body! I was amazed at how much fun I was having too! Trisha and Jesse worked me hard while making me smile and laugh as the hour passed. I find myself missing the camaraderie almost as much as the expert instruction. Pilates takes mental energy and the descriptive approaches given and encouragement along the way are best in class! Thank you to Cassidy and her tremendous staff! TRY THEM OUT! more

Pilates Metro 5/17/2010

After hip replacement surgery in 2000 which left me with the condition of foot drop, I started Pilates at a studio in Pasadena. This helped me at first, but after three years I became disillusioned because I was not making any progress in my core strength and balance. The very beginning of 2004, I was absolutely thrilled when I found Pilates Mertro on Glendale Blvd., right here in Atwater Village where I live. Well, that was the beginning of my progress in core strength, improved posture, improved body balance and gait. It opened a new world for me. I am presently taking private lessons from Phithsamay who is a phenomenal instructor. I cannot emphasize enough how professional and well trained are the instructors at Pilates Metro. Also, very importantly, everyone here is very supportive and very friendly, which was not the case at the place I went to in Pasadena. Pilates Metro is a very caring place and I recommend it to older ladies like myself. We seniors must remember that when people get old they are more inclined to fall. Pilates helps us maintain core strength from which all our body movements eminate and trains us to be more aware of our bodies. Pros: Professional and caring Cons: none at all more

These people know what they are doing! 4/29/2010

This place knows what they are doing... To me what makes a pilates place great is the instructors and these instructors are very well trained, each one is better then the next. You can't go wrong splurging on a private here. The hours are good and they have group classes that are twice a week at two different times. The owner is also an instructor and very dedicated to keeping the place clean, friendly and professional. If you are in Silverlake, Los Feliz, Echo Park, Glendale this is probably the best Pilates studio around. Pros: friendly staff, group classes, well trained teachers Cons: rigid rules - but you gotta respect that more

I am in the Los Angeles area visiting my daughter and accompanied her to Pilates Metro with Allison as instructor. We tried a new type of Pilates - chair Pilates. I can certainly see how this could tone, stretch and increase strength. The atmosphere is so friendly and relaxing - we enjoyed our session and felt good about the workout. Pros: knowledgeable, staying current in industry Cons: I live out of town! more

Great Classes! 2/4/2009

I love taking classes at Pilates Metro! Renee is a great teacher. She is open to suggestions on what exercises we do and which areas we want to work on. And she works us really hard! I highly recommend her classes and hope more are added in the future. Pros: Classes, Instructor Cons: Need more classes in general, and at more convenient times more

Best Pillates 5/21/2008

I've been going to Pillates Metro for three years. I've been to studios farther from home that were in ""upscale"" towns in the hope of an ""upscale"" experience. Then I found a studio just a couple miles from my home in Siverlake that blew me away. Pillates Metro has style, beauty and class beyond compare. But what is most important is the workout I get. The level of attention and knowledge I've gotten from my trainers is head and shoulders of the other studios I been to. For all that it is hard to believe that price I'm paying is less than any of the other studios. Run to Pilates Metro. Pros: Great ambience, awsome trainers, low price Cons: Personal training still aint cheap more

Check this one out!! 5/1/2008

This studio is comfortable and intimate, while providing top-notch customer service. The trainers are flexible and friendly and work with all levels of experience (I had never tried gyrotonics before I went here!), and I always feel taller, longer, leaner and breathe better after a session here. Best studio in LA - I recommend it to everyone I know! Pros: great instructors! Cons: none at all! more

great studio 2/12/2008

I started pilates with a private instructor in February 2007. I am currently taking mat classes on Thursday evening. As a result, I have no more back pain, I stand straighter and feel stronger and I am 55! Everybody is very professional and friendly. Metro is a beautiful yet unpretentious neighborhood studio. Difficult to understand how the last reviewer could write such comments! I am taking Abbe's ( ""good students!) classes and she in far from being arrogant. Pros: friendly and professional more

Pilates Pure and nice people 2/8/2008

I took all my recent classes here and some private instruction. I had a good experience with my instructor and now friend, Claire. I also used Pitsimay and Heather and had positive results and felt it was worth the private fee each time. I would choose and I do choose this studio again over and over. Go there if you want a great workout / challenge. Pros: Full of Professional people who care about me Cons: They are not open on Sundays more

awesome instructors and beautiful studio!! 2/8/2008

i've been to pilates studios all over LA and i have to say that when i walked into this studio for the first time i was so impressed by the scerene and comfortable space. kudos to the decorator! along with the atmosphere, everyone from the front desk to the instructors are always so nice and professional -- it really makes the workout go by quickly. i've been going to this studio for three years now and i cant imagine going anywhere else. the way my body has responded has been beyond my expectations -- both in appearance and function! besides going down a size in jeans (!!!), i used to have a reacurring problem with my lower back and that's pretty much all but vanished. thumbs up all around! Pros: best studio in la more

Attentive and personalized pilates 2/8/2008

I've been going to Pilates Metro for two years now ( twice a week, religiously) and I couldn't have made a better choice. I have a very physically demanding job, and I used to have a lot of back problems from heavy lifting. Since I started sessions here, my back problems have disappeared! The attention to detail of the instructors is impressive - they guide you through every exercise with specific training on body position and muscle groups. I can't imagine trying to get the benefits from such a meticulous workout without signing up for private sessions - it makes all the difference! Working with Allison, I've noticed a big change in my strength and flexibility, and she even tailors my workouts not only to improve my core strength, but also to help my balance for hiking and improve my upper body strength for work. The studio is stylish with a warm and welcoming atmosphere - I'd highly recommend Pilates Metro to anyone! Pros: detailed pilates instruction, personal attention, welcoming atmosphere Cons: not one more

NOT pilates 2/4/2008

This place does not teach real pilates. It is all about the impression of being ""mind-body"" exercise, or even exercise at all. No substance to the teaching I received in a mat class. absolutely no flow to the class, teacher could not perform the exercises herself and could not cue in a clear way. Got the impression she was very arrogant. Kept speaking to students like 3-year olds ""good students!"" (said almost sarcastically).\r \r Do NOT take classes here! find a more reputable studio!\r \r no substance. place shallow. not pilates more
