Honestly better than paris! 2/14/2010

Heres the scoop. I am a nyc foodie. I hate most restaurants in the hamptons, honestly I never look foward to going out to eat when I am out east. Tonight my girlfriends family took me to Pierres for Valentines day. First we arrived 10-15 minutes late, yet they seated us within one minute even though the place was packed. Next, I was extremely delighted to see that they offered the regular menu and not just the Prix Fixe menu, due to the fact that it was Valentines day. Furthermore, the food was absolutely superb! I went to paris the summer, and this honestly topped anything I had there. I started with an onion soup, that was clearly made from fresh ingredients, and then followed with the filet of beouf. The meat was perfectly crusted with fresh and delectable seasonings. The potatoes that came with it were to die for! We did not order dessert due to the fact that we had cup cakes waiting at home, however, the waitress brought out linzer tarts and chocolates because she forgot to bring out one of the wines we ordered earlier right away. The music was awesome! Very Ella Fitzgerald meets france. The pace of the restaurant was great. I know most people like to sit there until its time for another haircut, however I like to be up and out in a relatively timely manner (not suggesting that you are rushed by any means). Overall, this has become my new favorite french place, and has taken the spot of la goulue. Pros: Fantastic food, music, promptly seated! Cons: honestly nothing more

Very Poor Service 2/14/2010

I have never bothered posting anything on a website until now. I cannot believe this restaurant is in business. The service and attitude is the worst I've ever experienced. The proprietor of this place could care less about his customers and it shows as neither does any of the employees. The food is fine but is greatly overshadowed by the rude and arrogant attitude that rules Pierre's. There is no way this establishment can stay successful until they make a major adjustment in service and attitude. There are far too many restaurants around to make do with this subpar one that treats its patrons like garbage. Pros: none Cons: many more

Pompous Wannabe Restaurateur 7/21/2008

Let me start off by saying that I am a huge foodie. One of my greatest pleasures is dining. One of my closest friends has been a chef at restaurants the likes of the Modern, Blue Smoke, Rosa Mexicana, etc. I have dined in a multitude of restaurants over the course of my life; some with great service, some with poor service, but never had I experienced such abrasiveness and overall lack of regard for its patron?s happiness as I experienced last Saturday night. While I acknowledge that for the most part, the service in the Hampton?s everywhere is not great due to tremendous volume, it was the attitude that accompanied the poor service that drove me to write what is my first negative internet posting. Let me highlight for you a couple choice phrases from the Owner "Pierre" himself: "We don't substitute, that is our policy" "If your wife is burnt so badly, tell her to go to the hospital" "You guys were trouble from the start. This is my restaurant and I should have kicked you out." "I don't care where you have eaten or who you know in the restaurant business. Tell anyone what ever you want; get whom ever to write what ever they want about my restaurant. I am Pierre and this is my place, please don't come back" Charming standup guy this Pierre is. He would be crucified if this restaurant was NYC. There are plenty of classy eating establishments in the Hampton?s to frequent. PLEASE DO NOT GO. Pros: Nice artwork and ambience more

WORST ATTITUDE 7/21/2008

1st our waitress snickered when we ordered 1 of the less expensive bottles of wine. Then, she accused us of stealing the neighboring table's wine. WORST OF ALL-- Pierre nor his staff appologized after the bus boy spilled the hot muscle sauce on my wife. When i complained to Pierre at the end of the meal, he said "sit down and stop looking for a free ride & if your wife is injured she should go to the hospital or stop complaining" He then told me that I was "young, didn't know anything and people like me shouldn't eat in his restaurant". I guess Pierre thinks it's okay to spill on a customer and doesn't appreciate business from 25-35 yr olds. more

The worst of the Hamptons 7/31/2007

Previous review nailed it! Arrived on time for 8:30 rez on a Tuesday and were told there would be a short wait. After 45 minutes, with several people milling about outside also waiting, spoke directly with Pierre whose precise words were "my name is Pierre and I will seat who I want when I want". Needless to say we went elsewhere and will never return. Have eaten there before and sworn off it because of the cliquey, inhospitable atmosphere. Thought we'd give it another chance, but never again. By the way, have also purchased pricey pastry from Pierre's take-out bakery only to find it moldy when we got it home. There are too many great restaurants in the vicinity to waste time on this loser. Pros: location Cons: nasty attitude; dishonored reservations more

Worst service I have ever had. 4/26/2007

We had some of the worst and rudest service I have ever experienced in my life (we live in Manhattan and eat out here all the time). They were 30 minutes late seating us (my wife is pregnant, and they wouldn't even find a chair for her to sit in for 15 minutes). Once we were at the table, it took a long time for a waiter to come over. When he finally did, my brother paused for about 5 seconds while giving his order, and the waiter said, (quoting here) "If you don't give me your order right now, I'll have to leave. We're very busy tonight." It was truly unbelievable. When the food finally came, his food was cold, and the servers almost threw it at us as if they couldn't be bothered. I complained about the service to the maitre d', who literally shrugged and without answering me started talking to someone else standing there. Clearly they are not concerned about our business. I will never go back. Pros: None Cons: Horrible service; mediocre food. more

What a find! You'll feel like you're on holiday! 11/1/2005

Although we've lived out here year-round for almost four years, we never made it into Pierre's until this Summer...And now we're kicking ourselves for waitng so long to try it! We've now been there for lunch numerous times, and dinner once, and it's a wonderful place. The food is fantastic, the service pretty good, but the atmosphere is really something special...whenever we're there, we don't feel like we're just out for dinner, we really feel like we're on holiday. It's a really wonderful place, highly reccomended Pros: Atmosphere, Food more
