The sad thing about your false statements is you are not thinking about the employees who work at Piccola Italia. They go to work every day to make money to pay bills. I am sure ...

The atmosphere of this restaurant was nice and the service was good. I had penne with sausage and a red sauce. It was okay but was definitely something that I could make at home...

poor management 8/12/2011

Ok, the food and the service at this place seem to be pretty well put together. However, my experience a few nights ago put a sour taste in my mouth. I was dining with a friend and we were deep in conversaton when the girl that was managing allowed her staff to start closing the restaurant around us. I thought this to be very rude and disrespectful, and for that, I do not think I will be returning to dine at Piccola. more

Italian food made from a true Italian!!! 4/23/2010

The sad thing about your false statements is you are not thinking about the employees who work at Piccola Italia. They go to work every day to make money to pay bills. I am sure the health inspector has shown up in the morning unannounced at least a few times over the last 28 years!! You did not quit, you got fired and it is understandable to be upset, but to go about it this way and try to defame a good establishment truly supports the reason you were fired in the first place. The food at Piccola Italia is the real thing!! Piccola Italia has lasted longer then some marriages lol. You have to be doing something right to stay in business as long as Mr. Amato has. Move on and good luck in your job search!! Pros: The Food, the ambiance Cons: Wish there was a Piccola Italia in Wake Forest more

Try it --you'll love it-- 3/4/2010

There is no place better for mouth watering Pizza and great Italian. We know exactly who's posting the fraudulent reviews in an attempt to make Piccola look bad. Don't pay any attention to this liars. Try Piccola yourself. It's the best! Pros: Excellent more

Piccola Best in the Triangle 3/2/2010

Ignore the negative posts. They are being posted by a few ex-employees who were fired because they couldn't or wouldn't abide by the rules, i.e. get out of bed and go to work /go to work on time. I suggest these posts are easily traced back to the posters who have maliciously and with malice posted grossly untrue information about Piccola Italia herein. Got $25,000 to $30,000 to defend your lies in court? Pros: Everything Cons: Ex-employees more

I Actually Vomitted...Twice 1/30/2010

I went to Piccola based largely on good word of mouth, and I ordered the ""Gladiator"" (all meat) pizza. The first few pieces tasted great, but I actually started to get sick after the 3rd or 4th slice. I ended up vomiting the entire meal up. I think it was because of how thick and greasy the crust was. Still, because those first few slices tasted great, I went back a second time a few months later and ordered the same pizza, the ""Gladiator."" The exact same thing happened; I ate one or two slices fine, but started to get an uneasy ""sick"" feeling after the third slice. And I ended up vomiting again. Pros: Great Tasting Pizza Cons: Makes Me Sick more

My favorite place! 12/10/2009

I too have been coming here for many years and always enjoy it. The manicotti is the best I have had. Frank the owner is always there and makes sure everything goes as it should. I would highly recommend!! Pros: great food...good staff more

Worlds Best Pizza and Pasta 10/17/2009

I discovered Piccola Italia in 1982 after searching high and low for REAL Pizza. A friend suggested I visit Piccola Italia and I've been hooked ever since. At least twice a week I can be found stuffing my face at my favorite booth. Don't pay any attention to the negative posts. They are being posted by a few former employees who were canned for failing to show up for work . Try Piccola yourself. You won't regret it. Pros: Great Service, Friendly Staff, Awesome Food Cons: Closed Sunday more

Aggressively bad service 8/22/2009

When my husband and I arrived at Piccola Italia, the hostess asked the waitress out front, ""Will you take this one?"" The waitress replied, ""I guess if I have to."" Looking back, we should have left then - or at least when we got to our table, where food and dirty silverware littered the floor. Our waitress came to our table three times - the last time, she asked us if we wanted dessert while we were only about halfway through dinner. Then she dropped the check on the table. Maybe she was in a hurry to get off work - I don't know. We tried to speak to a man who seemed to be a manager about the service - growing up, my dad used to say his worst customers were the ones who never came back and never said why - but he just shouted ""Thank you!"" at us and ran. No apology, no interest in what went wrong. This place was quite a bit different fifteen years ago - maybe it's the new generation. We won't be back. Pros: serviceable food Cons: hostile service, dirty dining room more

last review is proposterous 8/20/2009

First of all, I would like to point out the fact that the last review could not have been written by a so-called ""teacher"" because teachers would not use such incorrect grammar and incomplete sentences. It's crazy the things that some people will say or fabricate to try and seek revenge for a personal bad experience. Listen people, Piccola Italia is a great restaurant to eat at. I've eaten there for several years and the food is amazing. I've never had a problem with the servers or night time management. I have also worked in the food industry and witnessed many cases of people writing negative reviews on citysearch in an attempt to retaliate for not being given whatever it was that they wanted. (I.E. free food, a discount, a free dessert, etc.) Piccola is not a corporate restaurant; it is family owned and operated. Therefore, since most expenses are from out of pocket, they are not going to be so quick to give away free food such as a corporate restaurant would. No private or family owned restaurant would give away free food because they simply can't afford to do it for everyone who cried wolf. Don't read these crappy reviews for any restaurant. Most of them are written by people that just wanted their a$$ kissed way too much or wanted something for free. If you really want to find out what the food and service is like at any restaurant, especially this one, go and check it out for yourself. Don't let other people decide for you. more

Unprofessional 7/25/2009

I am a teacher and each lesson is a lesson learned. The main thing I teach my students is being polite and to be respectful of others. Pros: Authinic Italian Pizza Cons: Dirty, grundgy, RUDE more

I can't believe some of you didn't like this place? 7/15/2009

I can not believe that some people had bad experiences at this place? I have been eating there every chance that I get since I was a college student at NCSU back in the 80?s. I eat there almost every time I return to Raleigh. Their pizza is so good that I am actually dreaming of it now. Every person that I have ever taken to eat there has returned. I have always received excellent food and great service. I would recommend the Piccola to any one with out hesitation. Pros: Wonderful food Cons: only that I live 150 miles away. more

Great neighborhood Italian place 6/19/2009

I live in the neighborhood and have been eating at Piccola Italia for years. I've eaten here dozens of times and have always had a good experience. Pros: great pizza, calzones and Italian comfort food more

The Very Best Italian Food Outside NYC 6/14/2009

We traveled from Durham with 4 friends to again experience real Italian food. This is our 4th. visit this month. Our food was simply incredible! Our server Brandon was awesome. We can't get enough of Piccola Italia! Please open a place in Durham! Pros: Outstanding Food, Wonderful Decor, Fantastic Service Cons: That there is no Piccola in Durhan more

Cold! 5/8/2009

Nothing better than cold lasagna, on a big, cold, plate. Pros: None. Cons: Cold! more

I wish the two or three DISGRUNTLED former employees who were discharged for cause, would cease posting false and libelous reviews herein in retaliation for being discharged. Pros: OUTSTANDING ITALIAN FOOD Cons: DISGRUNTLED FORMER EMPLOYEES more

I must agree with the last posting. I did see the roma pizza sauce cans on the wall so i think you nailed it on the nose that the sauce is out of a can! I recently had a terrible experience at dinner. The food was below average at best and the service was terrible. We had a black haired waitress who was in her own world. We had to loiterally remind her about are drinks twice...she was eating right across with from us when we still hadnt gotten are salads which came out the same time as are pizza. The salad was a mixture of brown iceburg and old mushy cucumbers! The waitress rollled her eyes when we asked about the salad and continued to eat with the manager. Anyways we asked her to speak with a manager at the end of the meal, she claimed he was busy and couldnt talk. This place is a joke and the owner needs to get a grip on his staff..........a can opener and a plate wont cut it. I suggest going to olive garden over this place. Pros: leaving the place Cons: terrible pizza, awful service, no managment more

worst pizza/italian food ever 2/26/2009

Im not the type to ever complain about a restuarant but this was THE worst italian restaurant ive ever been to. I came into for lunch about two weeks ago....we had a black haired female server who had no idea what was going on. It was relatively slow and it still took her over five minutes to take are drink orders. The salads and food came out at literally ten seconds apart! This wasnt a big deal but are waitress was so rude and didnt say a word about everything coming out together. Anyways we were just happy the food had finally came out(45 minutes latetr). My husbands pizza was burnt along with tomato sauce that was obviously out of the can......not better than ragu pizza sauce. We asked the waitress about the pizza and she claimed that was new york style.....sorry pizza hut puts this place to shame. Anyways i had ordered a regular penne with marinara sauce. It came out angel hair with regular tomato....the waitress proceded to get angry and claimed i didnt order that. This was THE worst restuarant experience of my life! Who does the hiring? I heard the owner cookes but he obviously needs to make changes. more

Great food! Gotta try it! 2/25/2009

Fast service, great authentic itallian food. The pizza is great too and the prices are fair. I think you'd like this place! Pros: great food Cons: can't think of any more

nothing special 1/28/2009

The atmosphere of this restaurant was nice and the service was good. I had penne with sausage and a red sauce. It was okay but was definitely something that I could make at home with little more effort than opening a can of diced tomatoes and giving them a whir with an immersion blender and cooking an Italian sausage. My husband ate there last week and left with the same impression. more

Nothing to fear at Piccola's...except my blazer! 12/15/2008

I found the pizza outstanding (wide variety of toppings, thin & crispy crust), the pasta sauce rich & flavorful, the wine list impeccable, and the service faster than a Trevor Ferguson fast-break. more
