great pizzas in a teeny tiny spot that is worth the wait 2/23/2008

yummy fresh innovative flat pizzas and great soups, and Strauss soft ice cream with super topings (olive oil and salt - spectacular). Friendly service. Seats about 9, so expect a wait - and it's worth it more

I ate at Picco in late October with a group of eleven, purely by accident, after the nearby Lark Creek Inn lost our reservation. It ended up being wonderful serendipity. The folks at Picco were so accommodating and gracious, both the hostess and our server were professional and friendly. Our server especially, she was among the best I've encountered--knowledgeable about the menu, fun, and impeccable in guiding a big group into the right combination of small plates. And the food! Everyone absolutely raved about the dishes, there were plenty of choices for vegetarians, and we got fabulous wine recommendations too. We ordered a good sampling of the appetizers and small plates, and they were all delicious, but the risotto of the day (the best and freshest restaurant risotto I've had) and the spinach ravioli brought conversation to halt. None of our dishes disappointed. Don't miss dessert either, we sampled at least half the options, and it was hard to pick a favorite. Pros: Everything Cons: None, except that I don't live close enough to eat there more often more

Good pizza, uneven service 11/2/2006

The pizza is excellent, but they need to do something about the service. Customers who will have dinner and buy a bottle of wine are forced to wait for one of the six indoor seats while ten year-olds eat hot fudge sundaes, because (surprise) this restaurant emphasizes both high-end pizza and low-end soft ice cream equally. The wait staff consists of junior college girls who avoid eye contact with the half dozen people waiting for tables. Every now and then a manager from the restaurant next door appears, but the service doesn't improve. Pros: food Cons: service more
