Small but excellent market 8/17/2011

The Phinney Farmers' Market is everything a farmers' market should be: convivial, spacious, convenient and, most of all, delicious. It's in a nice large space relative to the number of stalls, has a parking lot right next door, and even has an ATM on the premises. The number of vendors doesn't rival the larger markets like Ballard or the U District, but there's still usually multiple vegetable stands, several fruit stands, two or more bakeries and a dozen or so assorted local craftspeople, ranchers and fishermen. There's a kid-friendly musical act every week, and some prepared food stalls if you'd like to have a late lunch or early dinner. Everyone is friendly and in a good mood, a far cry from the frantic, pushy feel the larger markets can have. It only runs from July to October, though, so get while the getting is good! more

Back to the Good Ol' Days 4/23/2006

There seems to be a resurgence of smaller grocery/convenience stores that aren't 7-11. Thank goodness. I first came to Phinney Market by way of the dachshunds that are there sometimes. So cute, I couldn't resist. The owner was amazingly friendly and talkative. I like that. It's upscale, which matches the neighborhood, but if you NEED something more trashy, 7-11 is a few stores down. more

Convenience shop, deli and restaurant 2x a week all in one stop! One plate Fri dinner ($12) and Sun brunch ($9.99 incl mimosa) rotate weekly. Meals are gourmet making the Phinney Market a regular stop for locals dining in or taking out. Personal favorite, very authentic homemade chicken liver pate. more

friendliest neighborhood grocery 10/25/2005

this is the friendliest neighborhood grocery store in town! i go here all the time because the staff are great! they treat you like a friend, or family, make you feel welcome, go out of their way to answer your questions, and make you feel good about spending your money there, supporting their establishment. they have a little bit of everything, an espresso stand, and deli, and now they even do some delivery service for lunches! stop in and say hello, you wont be sorry! more
