Let me start off with Philippe Chow Express must be one of if not THE worst restaurant in Manhattan. I have had many pleasant experiences at the Philippe on 60th street but this downtown outpost is the complete opposite. The restaurant itself looks like a slightly more upscale take-out place but is very dark and slightly unappealing. The menu is identical to Philippe uptown but with lower prices (Chicken Lettuce Wraps are $9 instead of $18). The service is actually what appalled me the most during this visit. I had told my server about my severe nut/peanut allergy multiple times through out my lunch and he had told me that everything would be peanut and nut free. Low and behold, during my first appetizer of Vegetable Dumplings (which I have had at Philippe on 60th street before and have been fine) I started to have an allergic reaction. I later left the restaurant and was rushed to Lennox Hill on 77th & Lexington. The food wasn't good at Philippe Chow Express (not that the quality of food was my main concern at the time) and isn't worth going all the ways down to 6th ave and 11th street for. For quality food with good service just stick to Philippe uptown or Mr. Chow in Tribeca. Unfortunately for me I can't risk eating at Chinese restaurants anymore even if they are upscale since with every allergic reaction I have, the symptoms become more severe. I do hope Philippe Chow Express closes down in the near future and it just might since when I went the restaurant was completely empty and the delivery man was taking out trash as opposed to delivering food orders. Do your self a favor and never visit Philippe Chow Express, there's better Chinese food, well just food in general, in the city and the service is incompetent and doesn't take its clientele seriously (if I could give this restaurant negative stars I would).
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The Service doesn't take you seriously & food is mediocre
