Phillies! 1/15/2006

Going to a Philadelphia Phillies game at the new and very nice Citizen's Bank Park is a great way to spend a day or night. Even if the team is not doing well, as seems to be the case so often, you can't beat the atmosphere of a Phillies baseball game. It is fun for adults and children. There is a good selection of different ballpark foods(high priced, of course). On game days you can get tickets for $12 at the box office window. And don't miss the antics of the Phillie Phanatic! Sunday games usually have a giveaway. more

Perennial second-rate team, but nice stadium 8/8/2005

The Phillies have not seen the playoffs since 1993 (which was their only appearance since 1983). They are not exactly a team with a long history of success, but nevertheless their games can provide an entertaining atmosphere for visitors and locals. The beautiful Citizens Bank Park, opened in 2004, offers fans the feel of a classic baseball stadium. There are plenty of quality food and concession items albeit at a fairly expensive price (except on $1 hot dog days). Most seats provide a good view, but you'll pay at least $20 each for a decent one. The atmosphere is very family-friendly with activities for kids and the ever-popular Philly Phanatic, possibly the best mascot in professional sports. Sunday afternoon games are usually crowded, but good seats are not difficult to find during the week unless the team plays a local rival (like New York) or goes on a winning streak. Whether the Phillies make a serious playoff run is always in question, but going to a game provides a nice diversion and is a great opportunity to experience a first-rate baseball park. Plenty of parking available for drivers, but the public transportation system works well too. more

Go Phils! 8/4/2005

The Phillies have been around Philly for a long time, and they really are a good team, despite their record. The Phils keep players for the long run (lieberthal, abreu), but they do need some advice on management. They are a family and community focused team, and are worth watching live. more
