Good location, Good Food. 5/11/2006

I recently went to Pete's Pizza on Queen Anne Ave. and had a good calzone-it's what they are known for. The menu was a standard pizza menu with suggested combinations or build your own options as well. The calzone dough was light and fresh--it was the best part. The ingredients were just ok. I ordered meatball and I didn't particularly like the flavor and spices. Another pro for Pete's is the beer selection. They had all my favorite local beers on tap. So for about $18 (including tax, tip and a beer) Pete's is a good calzone/pizza option in Queen Anne. more

Not the world's great calzone 11/18/2005

I was excited by the claim made on the storefront of this Queen Anne pizza joint but after trying the calzone, my wife and I came to the conclusion that it was not the world's greatest. It wasn't even that good. I struggle to find better pizza in Seattle than the kind you order from Pagliaccia. Props to Pagliaccia as the best home delivery pizza place in any town I have ever lived in. more

calzone KING? i don't think so... 10/30/2005

to be fair to them, i've tried their calzones several times. and every time they've fallen short. where i come from, calzones are chock full of a nice, hot, squishy ricotta concoction that might also have other 'stuff' in it, like veggies, sausage, etc. and they burst open when you cut them. pete's calzones are chock full of mozzerella, very watery, too hard on the outside, and the veggies on the inside are bland. they have good in-store service and great salads, so it's worth going there. just not for the calzones. more

Come hungry. 8/21/2005

This place has been on the top of Queen Anne under a couple of different names -- but thank goodness, the equipment and calzone recipes haven't changed. If you like your calzone with a doughy crust, and stuffed full of some of the best baked mozzarella and tomato sauce you can imagine, then you'll make the same habit I have and start coming here more than my doctor says I should ... The portions are generous. Despite your urge to do otherwise, I'll encourage you to take a long walk after dinner. Pizza and salads are OK, and the wine selection is wanting, but there's always a decent rotating draft tap and sodas as alternatives. more

Best Pizza in Seattle 8/15/2005

Pete's is a family favorite for us. I think they have one of the best pizzas in the northwest, particularly the garlic and pepperoni. Their calzones are pretty good too. (At least, I don't know where else in Seattle you can find them this good, and I'm from NY.) It's a smallish restaurant, nonsmoking, with a bar, good beers, and yet very family friendly. (They have Pictionary cards and drawing pads at the tables, which kids 7 and older will love.) Highly recommended for a casual meal in Queen Anne. more
