Editorial review from Citysearch 7/7/2012

I don't generally write reviews except for restaurants, but this is something I thought could really help people. You always hear of horror stories of contractors who don't really care and work that took forever to finish. Perfect Renovation came highly recommended through a friend when I was looking around for an honest contractor who does excellent work. Well, he was right. And I would like to add several things to this. We had them do a fairly large job for us, connecting two floors of our townhouse, complete kitchen and baths, and there was a lot of original detail that we wanted to preserve. Their crew always looked neat and presentable and were really polite and friendly. It felt like they really respected our home and personal things and I enjoyed interacting with them. Then, it felt like we were really taken care of by the office and project manager. We could stop by the office to talk anytime and they always returned our phonecalls promptly. I also really recommend going with a contractor who offers design service, because it came in really handy and I think saved us money in the long run when we had to change some things along the way. Their work was clean and fast and they do not cut corners! I can't say enough good things about them! more

Honesty is the only solution 11/17/2011

as an architect (i am working for a big commercial firm) i KNOW how complex construction and renovation can get. and actually i understand all the people here that complain about contractors, because i feel bad for them. but at the bottom line, they complain cause they simply know NOTHING about construction. when i had my Perfect Renovation experience, i felt that they were honest with me all along the way. it didnt make my apartment more

inadequate oversight of workers and bad advice 9/14/2011

I had Perfect Renovation do a big job for me on my kitchen and in my basement. I generally enjoyed working with them, but ended up having two problems that were so significant that I would recommend that others stay away! Everything went well in the beginning, but as we got into the project they seemed to be constantly pushing to make it bigger. This manifested in a number of ways, but most problematically was that they kept finding additional problems which needed to be resolved. At first this seemed reasonable, but a couple of the things they said we had to do were very, very costly and didn't make sense to me. When I asked additional questions Perfect Renovation got defensive. When I told them that I was having an outside engineer come in to tell me whether the structural integrity of my building really was ""in danger"", they became aggressively defensive. In the end, I had two outside engineers assess the building and both told me to ""fire my contractor and never let him back in your house."" Secondly, the person for Perfect Renovation who oversees all of their job sites, represents himself as an ""structural engineer with more than 20 years of experience."" Once I became suspicious they they were just trying to push me into doing work that wasn't necessary, I asked a friend who works for the Department of Buildings look him up and come to find out that he has no such credentials. more

Great Park Slope Cellar Renovation 3/24/2011

Working with Perfect Renovation was a painless and enjoyable experience. I hired them to address some structural and plumbing issues in my cellar. They took care of everything - the building department, permits and all. I had complete trust in the crew, I had to leave town due to a family emergency and they completed the work in my absence. I would definitely look to them for future projects! more

Absolute Perfect kitchen renovation at One Plaza Street West 3/13/2011

Last January 2010, I contracted and commissioned Perfect Renovation to modernize my kitchen and living room space. From the first consultation, they set the bar by being thoroughly professional, reliable and forthright. Throughout the project?s progression the management team had a critical eye towards every detail and evaluation to ensure that the results met my expectations as well as theirs. I was guided by the collective expertise of in house teams of smart, talented and efficiently capable professionals that included Architects, Project Managers, an Electrician, Plumber and an Interior Design Coordinator, who were instantly responsive to my ideas and concerns from the beginning to the completion of the project. They are a licensed and bonded company that handles all the filing of the required permits and submission of documentation for approval with your building?s Co-op board prior to the start of the project date. In this industry, where more than some home owners experience the unfortunate instance where hired contractors start projects and abandon them before completion, do shoddy workmanship and or take your money without providing you with the contracted services, it?s reassuring to experience such great customer service. Contractually, even within the one year anniversary from project's completion, they have been responsive in promptly addressing all issues within the scope of the agreement. Perfect Renovation has a great sense of internal integrity and strives to achieve the highest level of work and craftsmanship to honor there name sake. At best, it feels like a collaborative experience, where your ideas are conceptualized through design and implementation. I recommend that you visit there website to see many examples of the incredible finished projects that they have designed, including my listing for One Plaza Street. I am so happy with my renovation that I?m convinced you?d find them to be literally perfect for your renovation needs. I would go as far to permit Perfect Renovation to arrange for a physical walk through for interested clientele. more

Love my new bathroom! 3/3/2011

I was leery of going to Perfect Renovation at first because my project seemed so small and insignificant. I wanted to upgrade my small bathroom in my co-op apartment. The designer and owner were very friendly and accommodating of my budget and needs at the beginning. Then the workers who completed it were super nice and did a great job. I got exactly what I wanted! more

Don't Let Perfect Renovation Waste Your Time Too! 11/1/2010

I went to Perfect Renovation on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn three weeks ago to ask about a renovation project on our downtown Brooklyn apartment. I was asked to fill out a detailed form, and was told that Nadav, the owner, would call me within 24 hours. A week later I had not heard from anyone at Perfect Renovation so I called to follow up. The woman who answered the phone did not have my form filed anywhere or any record that I had been in the office. She said Nadav was in a meeting and would call me back. He did so, five hours later at around 8 pm. He still did not have the form I filled out, so I related again what sort of work we wanted done. I offered to email Nadav our floor plans, and he agreed that would be helpful. I sent the email with the floor plans, and asked that he let me know his initial thoughts on the proposed project before I scheduled an appointment with one of their architects to discuss plans in more detail. That was two weeks ago. I've heard nothing at all from Perfect Renovation since. I emailed Nadav again earlier this afternoon and he claimed I was supposed to contact some (unknown to me) Perfect Renovation architect, though I'd not been put in contact with any architect and my email had clearly said to please let me know his initial thoughts about the proposal first as I'd rather not take time off work if I don't have to. This entire experience has been such a disappointment. I had high hopes from the feel and design of Perfect Renovation's website, but I can confidently say that if their work is anything like their organizational abilities, attention to detail and follow through, we're much better off with a different vendor. Don't let Perfect Renovation waste your time too! more

Great work 8/10/2009

We had two bathrooms renovated lately with perfect renovation, and we are now in the process of designing the garden floor, reconfiguring the kitchen and living room, and 1/2 bath. Everything went according to the schedule and the service was more than satisfactory. Both bathrooms look fantastic! Except for one small change order that costed us more than the original price, we stayed in our budget. We are looking forward to get started with the rest of the work. Pros: very professional, reasonably priced more

Excellent work by perfect renovation 5/30/2009

Perfect has done extensive work for our coop in park slope and took care of some old serious issues in our building, such as work on our cornice and roof, staircase repair, repointing, fixing the poor electrical wiring all over, painted the hallway, changed windows. They did it the right way, gave us all the insurances, required that we file for a permit, and took care of all the necessary filing and got all the approvals fast. Except for minor touch ups in the hallway that they had to come back and fixed again, everyone in the building is very happy with the work. Pros: professional, quick, in budget more

How are they still in business!? 5/26/2009

Any contractor can wrap up a piece of poo, but in the end, it's still a piece of poo. A Perfect Renovation is in a location where their customers know very little about hands on construction, they'd rather pay and not have to worry about the job than do the research to make sure things are going properly. They cover up problems instead of fixing them. If using them, it wouldn't hurt to call 311 to make sure they're up to code. I did, and saw that they got slapped w/ numerous violations. btw, I've personally caught them removing asbestos w/out proper safety precautions. Pros: They know how to reel you in w/ the talk Cons: Everything else more
