This is absolutely the most horrid excuse for an auto shop I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. If I could give negative stars for something it would be for this epic failure of a business. I have lived in this neighborhood and had a pep boys credit card for 10 years+. Other than the occasional car wash stuff, I never use my card here. I would seriously pay them not to touch any of my cars. You will never, ever, ever get to just walk in and get an oil change here. Every single time morning, night, weekday, weekend they will tell you you have to leave it with them because it will be 1.5-2 hours minimum. The only people who get their vehicles worked on here are suckers! seriously, you have been warned. if you are thinking about getting work done here you will be sorry. more

Bad experience times two 2/8/2012

1. Their salesman talked me into the most expensive wiper blades they had due to a rebate (buy two & receive a full rebate for one of them). Sent in the required forms and received a tiny postcard a month later that I almost overlooked stating that my receipt didn't show the purchase of any qualifying items. I called the toll free number and was told the date on THEIR receipt was smudged! They could read the month and year (which fell in the required range) but not the day. Ridiculous. The RUDE customer dis-service gal fixed it and now I can expect a prepaid VISA card (which I hope isn't a pain to use - I have had that experience before!) in 4 - 6 weeks. I will need to call to activate the card and then use it within 90 days for more than the value of the card so I don't get short changed. The amount of my time it has taken to deal with this is more valuable than the darn rebate! 2. My roommate went there to get her car inspected and was told they needed to do $300 worth of work for it to pass. All she actually needed was a tire and a bulb for her blinker. I WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN AND DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL! more

Fraudelent organization from CEO's down to the reviews from actual employees in the service department!!!\r \r As sent to Pep Boy's Corporate:\r \r I went to your facility on the advise of my father as my serpentine tensioner broke, and it was after normal business hours. Your "mechanics" (I do not know where they are certified as such) "repaired" my vehicle. Since your staff touched my car, I have had several issues. I took my car to my mechanic who informed me that first of all, the wrong size belt was placed on my car! He could tell this visually via the wobbling in the tensioner. However, he did not touch anything, and called your facility on South Lamar in order to verify what he could do without voiding my warranty on the "service" your organization performed. He advised me that this is common practice and to take it back to have the proper belt installed. i origionally went to get the ac done, i was the first one there and the last one seen! within 24 hours i was experiancing major issues, i was smelling coolant coming out of my air vents, a horride smell! my car started to over heat within second engine lights was coming on and things were going down hill! pep boys was supposibly looking for leaks to assure the ac would work properly.\r when i was stranded out for 6hrs i was calling the company to get assistance for the work they did! when the toll truck arrived we were taken to the origional location and was waiting for our questions to be answered properly. i was given information i already knew! when asking to be compensated or for a managers info,excuses was given as to why not!\r Pep boys mechanics made a absolute fail, because of there careless work(a quick overpass to get me out the door) they caused $ 600.00 in damages in a radiator, tubes,&heater cord! not including the charges they origionally charged! FAIL. 12/5/2010

I needed to get my car inspected and my oil changed. When I went in to this place, the guy at the front told me it would be 45 minutes to maybe an hour... Long story short, I waited for over 2.5 hours and eventually left because they said that I may have to wait for a couple more. The people at this place are ridiculously incompetent with vehicles as well as quality business practice and couldn't communicate any worse than if they were a sack of (lying) bricks. Don't waste your time with this miserable establishment and the failures who operate it. more

My car ('99 Dodge Durango) was stalling every so often, about once a month. I dropped my car off on a Tuesday morning and was told later that day that it was the idle air control motor. I waited around until Thursday with no word back from them before I called back. My car had been ready since Tuesday afternoon; no one had bothered to call me though. \r \r When I tried to drive my car again (Sunday), I couldn't even get it out of the parking spot. It was doing the SAME thing only much much worse. I called them back (Monday) and explained what the problem was. I was told that they would tow me and it would cost me if the problem wasn't their fault and it would be free if it was related to the work that they did. I didn't want to chance it so I called AAA. \r \r I was told that there was a wire running from the computer of my car to the idle air control motor that was "chewed up" and luckily it was covered in the warranty so I didn't have to pay for this. Satisfied service 11/13/2005

I called Pep Boys Auto to find a hard to replace wheel and they went out of their way to find one in time for our Labor day vacation . The wheel only took 2 days to get and they installed it for free. We had the best vacation because of their customer service. Would highly recommend more
