Editorial review from Citysearch 5/2/2016

The food here is a definite notch above what you get from your normal Chinese takeout place. This is an actual sitdown restaurant, though I have only gotten takeout. The quality is noticeably better than other nearby offerings. The food tastes fresh and homemade, not like something the Cisco truck delivered. Service has always been A+. I recommend. more

Great to me! 1/30/2014

I sometimes get takeout of sesame chicken and chicken and broccoli. The food is hot and of high quality and tastes very fresh. I have never had any issues more

Save your money 4/3/2012

Likely worst Chinese food in 20 years in Raleigh. No service, at all. Wish I'd just driven by and thrown my money out the window. Pros: null Cons: null more

Incorrect menu 10/4/2011

Went online and ordered from their online menu -- two items from the "Top 10 Gourmet" list -- paid more, but hey, we'll also get salad, egg rolls, and crab rangoon. When the food arrived, salad, egg rolls and crab rangoon were not there, so called the restaurant, figuring they made a mistake and would come back out with the missing food. Instead, guy on the phone insists that the items are ordered are NOT on the "Top 10 Gourmet" online menu (which I was looking right at, and were), so they're not bringing it out. more

Great food; unique atmosphere 5/25/2011

Love this place! Love eating here! Location is easy to miss tucked away in shopping center, but definitely a good date night locale. There's a really cool koi fish pond, lots of fresh flowers & the waitstaff are so friendly/helpful. They also do really good take out & they deliver! Honestly, no complaints besides the bathroom being a little sketchy, but I'm coming for the food--not to hang out in the bathroom. I would highly recommend this place for a variety of reasons--value, quality & overall atmosphere. All the regular staples with some Thai food mixed in the menu--lots of selection. Go here; you won't regret it! more

First time, very disappointed. Complete failure at service! 2/17/2011

Went to the 8pm movie at the Colony last night and we decided to try the Peking Garden beforehand instead of the usual fare down the street at NHM. more

A very disappointing experience 2/10/2011

We stopped for dinner at Peking Garden after the 7pm movie at the Colony. Several tables were seated when we arrived. We ordered and found the food bland and tasteless. It was also way too expensive. We had eaten there in the past and the food was good and cheaper. Is there new management? I stepped into the mens room and found the entire place soaking wet including water dripping down the walls, puddles covering the floor and water all over the fixtures including the toilet seats. When I asked about the condition, I was told that they just washed the floors... sorry. As we sat, someone was sweeping up in the other side of the room. Every stroke of the broom clunked either against furniture or the shovel he was carrying. This all contributed to a totally aweful experience. We will never go back there again. more

The demise of a formerly great place 10/22/2010

This used to be our favorite restaurant. We have slowly seen both the food and the service go downhill, and last night will be our last night dining here. The food was mediocre, the service was non-existent, and no one at the restaurant even cared. The manager watched me get up twice to find a water pitcher to bring to the table, and he still sat at the back in front of his computer. more

Best Chinese Food in Raleigh 5/30/2009

I've lived in Raleigh for about 15 years, and this is by far the best place to get Chinese food that I know of. For one thing, it's not some greasy all-you-can-eat buffet place, but a real restaurant. So the food is well prepared, and tastes great! Prices are very reasonable, and the portions are generous. The staff is always pleasant, even when the place is packed which it usually is on the weekends. Pros: Great Food Cons: None more

Top Notch 2/6/2009

Peking Garden is simply some of the best, most authentic chinese food in Raleigh and its longevity is testimony to that. It is a small, intimate restaurant with a cool koi pond just as you enter. The menu is very extensive, with what the typical American diner would consider unusual, rare, even bizarre foods. Luckily, they have standard Chinese favorites, too. We love the fact that they deliver, offer brown rice (for $1.00 extra), and have excellent wait staff. The prices are higher than the quik-stop Chinese buffet establishments, but the food is of much higher quality. more

My favorite Chinese in Raleigh 1/29/2009

I love this place. The food is always good, the service is fine, and I have never had trouble getting a table. The portions are large, and reasonably priced. I love the Black Pepper Steak - its a nicer cut of meat than you find in most Chinese places, and comes with appetizers making it a good value. more

Tasty, non-greasy Chinese... 1/4/2009

This place is very good. They have a nice ambience with Asian decor, an aquarium and a koi pond. They have the usual Chinese dishes on the menu, but also have a "Authentic Chinese" section of the menu with some interesting choices. Every time we've been, the food was excellent. The main reason I like this restaurant so well is that the ingredients are fresh, and nothing is greasy. My husband likes some of the items on the "authentic" menu, as well as the really spicy dishes. If you like Chinese food, there is something for everyone. For the most part, the service is good, but there have been a few times I was not impressed with the waitstaff. more

found hair in food 9/16/2008

I would not recommend this establishment to my worst enemy. After waiting for over an hour for a delivery order, I found long wavy black hair in my food. I called Peking Gardens and told them what I found in my food, the gentleman that answered the phone told me he would bring my money (32.00) back to me. After waiting for another hour and no one coming to pick up the discusting food and returning my money, I called again and was told that they were very busy and I could bring the food to them and get a refund. I nicely explained to the man that I didn't go out to get the hairy food and I didn't feel I should have to go out to bring it back and get a refund. After all isn't that the point of getting a delivery order.(DUH) So as I set here writing this review, I am still waiting for someone to pick up this food and bring back my money. I only hope other people do not go through what I have been through this eveving. Hopefully Wangs Kitchen will be getting a call from me soon, as we are starving by this point. Pros: none Cons: wonderful if you like hair in your food more

The first visit 5/27/2008

When I first visited this restaurant, I had nothing but high praises for it, the second time not so bad, but the third time the service was awful. I don't know, may be I went at a bad time, but I must say that the food is good, but not good enough for the bad service that was received. The prices are pretty high, and seating is limited. more

Terrible Take out service! 1/25/2008

Ordered take out for the first time and it was awful! Our order was delivered and they forgot one of the dishes that we ordered and payed for. We called and an hour later they redelivered the wrong dish!! more

What happened to the dim sum?? 12/29/2007

They had the best dim sum in town..always fresh, and delicious and then suddenly it stopped and no mention of it returning. What a disappointment. Other than that, it's the only place to actually get Peking Duck which is exceptional. Pros: Great food Cons: No more dim sum more

After moving back to the states from the U.K. I feared that I'd never find take out chinese to come even close to meeting my new expectations, had actually purposely avoided eating chinese after my return. At the insistance of co-worker's I had tried Wang's and a few others.... each time unimpressed. Pros: Not greasy, freshly made, quick, and well presented....even the take out. Cons: A little pricey, but worth it. more

Best Chinese Ever! 1/29/2007

Not only was the food DELICIOUS, but the restaurant itself was breath-taking. Service was also impeccable. When I found out they do private parties, I immediately booked the place for my wedding reception! My friends and I all say Peking Garden's the best Chinese restaurant in town. Pros: Food, service, ambience, everything was great more
