Editorial review from Citysearch 11/4/2012

I joined this site purely to write a review for this pediatric practice. We have had nothing but amazing, attentive care from all the doctors and nurses there. Our son is now 13 months and we've seen Dr Anna Zou since he was born. She is absolutely lovely, always answers my millions of questions and will phone me back the same day if I leave a message with a concern. We were initially recommended Dr Flavio Gonzalez, but he was away when we made our first appointment. We have met him, but never had an appointment with him. He is super nice too. more

Like some doctors, not others 8/30/2011

All in all we've had a good experience. Dr. Roure is thorough, pleasant, patient and a great doctor. However, we had a HORRIBLE experience with Dr. Zhao (sp?) pronounced ZOW this past weekend when we had to page a doctor regarding my 5.5 month-old son's cough. She heard his cough over the phone, diagnosed him with croup and told us to go to the emergency room for a steroid shot right away. She asked me no background information and when I expressed surprise and questioned her 'diagnosis,' wanting to discuss the situation further because nothing about my son's condition seemed like an emergency situation, she was extremely rude to me and said that I was questioning her judgment as a Doctor, etc. I'm glad I did question her judgment and ultimately went with my gut and took my son for a walk-in appointment the following morning where another doctor in the same practice gave him an exam and said that he checked out and there was no need to give him a steroid shot at this point. The previous night when Dr. Zhao was warning me about stridor (a serious breathing condition associated with croup in babies) I expressed that my son was not experiencing this, she STILL directed me to take him to the emergency room. It felt as she was more interested in proving that she wasn't 'wrong' then actually listening to the situation and making a thoughtful judgment. more

Don't Go Here 11/8/2010

I brought my daughter to Pediatrics East of NY on East 81st St. They completely mis-diagnosed my daughter's situation which could have had severe repercussions. Luckily for her, I was able to get her to a competent physician the next day. As a concerned parent, please, please go somewhere else. more

Been going there for years 4/12/2009

I have been going to this practice for 8 years. I usually see Dr. Rossi, but see Dr. Roure too. Dr. Rossi is very attentive to my needs. When I wanted to do vaccines in a nonconventional way, he was very receptive to accomodating me. Now that I live in New Jersey, I still drive into the city to go to the office. My kids love him and I can't imagine going to see anyone else. I tried local doc but they were terrible. Dr. Rossi and his staff are the best. When our insurance changed, I still went to the office and paid out of my insurance. That tells you something. Pros: friendly and listens Cons: location more

A great experience with Dr. Rossi 4/8/2009

I have been going to Pediatrics East of NY for over 10 years, with 3 kids. I can't imagine anything bad, but some people are CRAZY. Dr. Rossi diagnosed a rare disorder with one of my children. I thank god for him every day. Dr Rossi is friendly, caring and an outstanding doctor. I rarely wait long, unless I appear at walk in during flue season ;-) what other doctors offices even have that option?? His staff are kind, friendly and sometimes pretty funny. Don't take anyones word, take your children there and see for yourself. A 5 star Practice!! A 5 star doctor!! Pros: A great caring doctor, wonderful staff Cons: I guess parking, but hey it is NYC more

SoSo Practice 2/22/2009

I live in the neighborhood and have been coming here for years. We recently made the decision to switch practices because of mounting bad experiences that have cost us $ and unnecessary stress. Once, a doctor ordered a test which was redundant to another one he already ordered and insurance wouldn't cover. We had to pay $400 for his mistake. During the H1N1 vaccine shortage, their office had a bizzare 'we cannot deny vaccine to anyone that comes into our office' policy. We had to wait 8 weeks, repeatedly rescheduling our vaccine appointment, because they kept running out, giving vaccines to walk-in and even nonpatients of the practice! Also of note, there are 2 male doctors and 1 single, young female doctor who just graduated (and I've seen on numerous occasions shopping at H&M)- advice on child rearing has been particularly unhelpful. I was drawn by the short wait, but the attraction is noteworthy. This is not a popular practice for good reason. Lack of client focus, out of touch doctors, a robotic staff. I wouldn't recommend this practice. Pros: short wait Cons: short wait for a reason more

Stay Far Away from this Practise 9/16/2008

Don't bother coming here, receptionists are rude, so are the doctors. they have few doctors working here, i'm pretty sure there is an exception, but if you are unlucky like me, you might have a nightmare experience here. Better go else where. Cons: Bad Attitude more

Dr. Roure is the blessing - Pediatrics East of NY 7/30/2007

Seven years ago, I gave birth to my first child in Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Roure was affiliated to Mount Sinai, so it seem like a perfect fit .......and it was. Pros: Very Clean, Plenty of book and toys for the children Cons: Parking, so bring lots of quarters for nearby meters more

Dr Rossi is Doctor from Hell 6/28/2007

All parents Beware! Dr. Ed Rossi is a doctor from Hell. I needed a second opinion for my baby who was very sick at the time. I called his clinic for an appt and was told by the receptionist to just walk in. I was kept waiting for 3.5 hours, only to be told that doctor refused to see my baby due to insurance issue. I was willing to pay in cash, and asked for the doctor to just please take a look at my baby. The receptionist was very rude to me and asked me to leave. I was very upset because they should have told me on the phone when I called in the morning that he would not see my baby, but they told me to just walk in after knowing the situation about my child's insurance. I was so worried about my baby's condition and asked again for my child to be seen. Dr. Rossi then came out and yelled an order to call the cops if I didn't leave his premise. Not only they kept me waiting with my sick baby for hours, he embarassed me by threatening to call the cops, when all I wanted was for the doctor to see my ailing baby and I was willing to pay in cash for the service. How dare he call himself a pediatrician, when he showed no compassion for a sick baby and worried mother. Spare yourself. Pros: Nice Location, Nice Office Dr Roure seems nice Cons: Dr Rossi -be sure to not pick him, although he probably owns the practise more

Dr. Roure-Pediatrics East of NY 5/2/2007

Pediatrics East of NY took care of my son when he was born. Dr. Roure is sweet and nurturing. Most recently I took my new baby toddler. My other son is turning 10 this coming week. what does that tell you? Pros: Quality of care Cons: parking sometimes more

Very good doctors 4/2/2007

My daughter's pediatrician is Dr. Roure and at one time my daugher at three months had severe weezing and fever. She was dehydrating and though I was in with her on a Friday, and the symptons persisted, Dr. Roure came in on a Sunday at 8AM and gave my daugher shots that alleviated the weezing. He prescribed all of the medications that she needed and was very attentive. If it wasn't for Dr. Roure's diligence and compassion, my daughter could have been admitted to a hospital for dehydration and possiby for a severe asthma attack. I would definitely recommend Pediatrics East anytime. The wait is never long when you have an appointment and their walk-ins are never long as well when your children are sick. Pros: Wating time is not bad, kids are occupied with books, balloons, and it is clean. Cons: Parking but it is the city! more
