Ripped OFF! 4/25/2013

So mad...took my Shar-pei mix Max for allergies issues,as soon as the vet came in...did not say hello...what makes you think he has allergies? She went on telling me to read labels for his diet on and on making me feel like an imbecile! I have been going there since 2005,told them today was the last day I would never bring my dogs back, they are money hungry...not dogs lovers,a few years ago,did not realize they did not accept checks, had no cash,0 balance at the bank, they kept my dog overnight as a deposit till I paid them the next day! Stay away people! more

Absolutley Appaling 12/4/2010

My father recently took his Miniature Schnauzer, Keely, to this office when she began throwing up excessively, and there was blood in her urine. The Dr. determined that she had 3 very large bladder stones, and would have to have surgery to have them removed. The surgery was going to cost over $900. My father nor myself have this kind of money just lying around, and knowing very well that no one would allow a surgery to be done and have payments be made on it, he asked one of the representatives (the one that handles the financial part of it) if it would be possible to begin making payments until the balance was paid in full, and then have the surgery done. This woman completely refused. Said it couldn’t be done, which I find absolutely appalling. The nurses and Dr. were nothing but nice, but this woman was totally out of line. Not only did she cause this company to lose a customer, my father's dog is in serious condition and may not even make it long enough for us to find another vet. Its ridiculous. We would not expect them to do the surgery until the balance was paid in full. I say, use caution before using this business. It's a shame. more

Bad Bad 10/7/2010

Our two year old min pin hurt her leg a little over a year ago and had trouble walking. We brought her into the Pecos Animal Hospital to get it checked out. They took some X – Rays, and had an exam with the doctor. She put our little girl on some medication and pain killers, the medication did nothing (Steroids). The vet there, Dr. P I believe her name is didn’t know what was wrong with her and suggested we see a specialist. Our second visit to this place was about two weeks ago when our little min pin had a crazy skin condition; we thought it was some kind of ear mite so we brought her in to be safe. She had a skin scrape done to check for parasites and came up clean. We were then told to give her antibiotics, Prednisone, and Benadryl. Unfortunately this method did not help and she only got worse. We went back in today and scheduled her two different procedures costing us just under $350 dollars to “MAYBE” find out what’s wrong. Of course it hurt to pay so much money with such short notice but we sucked it up and scheduled her appointment for 5 days later. On the way out of the office for the 4th time with zero answers they tried to make me pay an extra $30 dollars for just coming in for her check up from the meds she was prescribed two weeks prior!! I told them they were ridiculous and out of principle I will pay even more money seeing a new vet just to avoid this place. On top of that our poor baby has been miserable for over a month now. The vet here is very nice, but she isn’t the brightest. Her little round office manager is very rude and has the “Business/Money mindset not caring much for the animals”. They also make you wait a good 20 minutes to even see a human after they put you in a room. Avoid this place for your precious animal, and you will also save yourself frustration and headaches! more

World Class! 8/21/2010

Having just been through two other vets, I can say that Pecos-Russell Animal Hospital is professional, caring, and exceptional in many ways. I've never experienced a Vet that would take the time that Dr. Paetz does! She is very thorough without running unnecessary tests and obviously cares a great deal for her patients. I would recommend this facility to anyone that cares about their pet! more

Love this Vet! 4/7/2010

We have been using Dr. Paetz since we moved in LV in 1991 on the recommendation of a friend. She is a wonderful, caring vet. When admitted to the back, our two dogs race around the corner into the reception area to be petted by the staff. They never do treatment without explaining thoroughly the treatment and the costs. We have only seen the other vets a few times, but both of them have been wonderful as well. more

vaccinations 2/12/2010

My little dog almost died from having all shots at once. I read on the net, that other vac's should not be given at the same time as the rabies! Any Vet that doesn't take this precaution for my baby, is not acceptable to me! more

Pecos-Russell Animal Hospital is LAZZZZYYYYY 1/1/2010

No holiday hours on their door. I had to call several times and even drive down there but I guess they are too busy to write a sign saying the hours they will be open to care for your pet. Also they had a special on dental cleaning with a HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGE banner in front of their business...well the special is no longer available but they wont take the sign down. I'm considering switching vets, I don't care for these type of practices. Too much competition out there to put up with this bullcrap. more

Pecos-Russell Animal Hospital has been great for me. 9/25/2009

I've gone to Pecos-Russell Animal Hospital for more than 2 yrs now w/ 4 pets. I'm picky. I've gone through 3 other vets & I like the doctors at PR. They do not try to pad the bill like a lot of other vets do & they are understanding & work with you if there is a money issue. Other vets act like $400 $600 $800 is nothing & just expect you to grab you CC & pay it. I like Pecos Russell. The front office staff is friendly & answers any questions I have. I really like how when they answer the phone & have to put you on hold they say "Thank you for calling Pecos Russell Animal Hospital May I put you on hold or is this an emergency?" It's a little thing, but it really impressed me. Again, I'm picky. more

Good Practice 4/4/2009

I have had wonderful experiences at this hospital. The staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable to my pets and their health. The veterinary technicians are licensed (the licenses are posted on wall) and the doctors are great to my pets. Highly recommended. more

Great Vet! 2/2/2009

Not doing CPR because you're dog wasn't human!? The only reason they wouldn't do CPR is if the dog had already passed. No heart beat or breaths. They did CPR on my dog! You probably spoke to a receptionist, not a tech. SOME of their receptionists need a lot of training in the ins and outs of veterinary care, not to mention some manners!\r \r And to the person about the vaccines, there's a lot of controversy surrounding vaccines. The general rule of thumb, though, is as long as the dog has no known reaction to vaccines, it IS OK to vaccinate all at once. If a vet told their clients to come back in two weeks for another shot, do you know how many wouldn't bother? Then there's even more unvaccinated pets in Las Vegas. The high number now is what keeps me from taking my dogs to the park.\r \r But all in all, this place is great. The building is old, and it shows, but the people there are very caring and always very helpful. Also, their new doctor is fantastic. (And I really don't believe that more

THEY DON'T CARE!! 11/2/2008

i took my dog here for difficulty breathing and on my way to the hospital my dog stopeed breathing. i took her inside and told the technician just stopped breathing and she took her to the back with no sense of urgency. they didn't even attempt to do cpr! i asked the technician about it and she said they don't do it cause their not human. its pretty obvious that tech is stupid. they will do surgery on your pets but not cpr!!! what kind of hospital is that?!?! more

HUGE FAN of Dr. Paetz 8/6/2008

I have to say I'm shocked to find that ANYONE would write anything about Dr. Paetz or her staff.\r I have been a client for 5 years and drive 25 minutes out of my way to keep bringing my poochie there. I wouldn't go any other place in valley. Dr. Paetz is above reproach! She is caring, kind, gentle and obviously cares deeply for all her pet clients. \r If you are looking for a trustworthy, caring, honest and experienced vet, I would look no further. Dr. Paetz is simply the best. more

thank you 6/5/2008

Pecos Russell Animal Hospital is a great place to take your pets. It's a second home to my animals and I do feel very safe about taking them to this hospital. I have had a couple of preoblems, but they do fix them. Dr. P and Dr. Z are amazing doctors. That I would even trust with my life. SOmetimes Dr. P does make me feel like the under dog so many times. She made me not feel at easy sometimes. But now I can go out there and with confidence for another job. Thank you. more

Another response to "Not That Great" 5/16/2008

I completely disagree as well! Dr. Paetz has always been very caring patient with us with any questions we've had. We've been going there for over four years. We just recently added a new pup to our family, and the staff is always very courteous and accommodating. Dr. Z. is awesome too. I would recommend this animal hospital to anyone! more

Not That Great! 3/17/2007

All the receptionists are nice and friendly, but Dr. Paetz is not. She is very phony. I don't like the way she treats her staff. She brings her dogs to work and expects the staff to take care of them. I heard her technicians are not licensed, which is illegal. Dr. Z. is very nice and caring, but that's not enough to keep me as a client. more

The best Doggy Doctor in town! 9/4/2005

I have been taking my dogs here for over two years. The veterinarians are great with them. I love the way they explain everything to me. I have never been unsatisfied with any of my visits. The nurses are great and they help you process all of the papers, and they also arrange for any tests that may be needed. more

Put's you at ease 8/2/2005
