Perfect atmosphere, dining and service 12/15/2009

Friendly and professional service. The food mirrored what was shown on the website. The taste was superb. And to wrap everything together, the atmosphere was so elegant and relaxing. The decor of the resturant was gorgeous and the music set the scene. I was very impressed as a first time visit experience. This is definitely some place I will not only return, but will refer others to as well. Pros: Excellent display of Soul Food Cons: Parking prices more

Didn't meet expectations 7/30/2009

Ate here last Friday night. Restaurant wasn't too busy. Live music was nice. Our party of four ordered 2 appetizers, fried green tomatoes and fried okra. Tomatoes were excellent. fresh, juicy tomatoes in light, crispy breading. Okra was okay... used the same coating as the catfish, which I didn't dig. Other items were a big disappointment. Fried chicken was very dry. Candied yams were also dry, and the cheese in the mac and cheese had separated, making the dish very oily. Catfish was okay, but nothing spectacular. The service was horrendous. Our waitress basically refused to so much as cr- ack a smile the entire time we were there. We asked for recommendations as to entrees to order. Her response? ""You want chicken, order chicken. You want fish, order fish."" One person asked how the green beans were prepared, only to be given a rude stare and a ""withOUT meat."" Other servers seemed to be similar attitude. The sitdown restaurants Downtown and in Lees Summit are beautifully decorated, but I personally find eating soul food, traditionally African American food, in uppity restaurants where largely African American servers provide $20+ a plate food to a largely white clientele to be somewhat off-putting. You want real deal at great prices? Try out the Peachtree's buffet on Eastwood Trafficway. $12.99 will get you all-you-can-eat Peachtree goodness. The decor isn't so hot, but the food is amazing, the service nothing but friendly, and the price right. Pros: Appetizers were okay Cons: Service and main dishes, not so much. more

Skip it or be VERY paitent 2/4/2009

It?s hard to imagine spending millions of dollars to open a restaurant in this location and not pay attention to the concert schedule of the largest attraction in KC. (Sprint Center) Pros: Nice decor and a nice view Cons: Very Slow, Average Food more

BEST SOUTHERN CUISINE I HAVE HAD IN YEARS...SINCE GRANDMA!!!! 1/15/2009

I ENJOYED MYSELF AT THIS PLACE!!!! The food was outstanding and our server, Kekee, was funny and engaging. I had the cajun pasta and my wife had a ribeye steak. My wife sais it was the best steajk she has had in a while We visited 18th and vine location yrs back and have been waiting for the new location..HOMERUN!!!! The view and food is outstanding. And those sweet rolls...oooohhhh how i missed them. We are taking my college friends there next week. Hope they have live entertainment this time..A rated experience!!! Pros: FOOD, ambiance, and did I say THIER FOOD!!!! Cons: dont go when busy, they prepare food from scratch so it may take a minute more

PEACHTREE IN THE POWER AND LIGHT DISTRICT 12/7/2008

The service was lousy to say the least, we had the manager at our table three 3 times, me and two of my friends were there pretty close to 3 hours., service was extremely slow, one person at our table did not get their food until 30 minutes after we received ours, we tried to wait but then our food got cold. Pros: I really can't think of anything good to say about this restaurant, way, way over rated and overpriced Cons: The poor service over shadows everything more

Peach Tree Restaurant 10/16/2007

Last year in 2007 I went to visit my niece in Shawnee Ks. she kept talking about Peach Tree. Before I left she took me .OH MY GOD. I can still taste the fried catfish and bake chicken.I'm from Texas they really need to franchise and move to Dallas Tx. The seasoning was just right not to much just right. I'm going back this summer in 2008 and that will be the first place I request Pros: plenty of sitting Cons: go early more

Hidden Gem 10/27/2006

What a dining experience! Fantastic soulfood in a little more upscale atmosphere. Dinner starts with fresh rolls and sweet potato cornbread muffins. My baby back ribs truly fell off the bone and were nicely glazed with a zesty sauce. The baked mac & cheese was thick and flavorful, not too saucy, and the green beans were better than homemade. Menu indicated the Salmon croquettes included bell pepper, but it was not detectable. They were perfectly spiced and tasted lightly fried. Others at the table were fully pleased with fried catfish, fried chicken, black eyed peas and greens. I went on a Saturday evening before 8, enjoyed no wait for a table for four and a live jazz trio playing loud enough to be heard, but mellow enough to be a relaxing accompaniment to conversation with our meal. Service was very friendly and approachable. I will most definitely return here! Pros: Ambiance, Food Quality, Friendly Service more
