Not impressed. 1/14/2012

It wasn't very good at all... 3 chorizo meatballs were $8, and didn't taste like chorizo at all. The charcuterie and cheese was really the only thing I liked, even with the oversalted prosciutto, and it was like $8 for 3 slices of prosciutto, 3 slices of lomo, and 3 chunks of cheese. And the $18 fried chicken took way too long to ""make"" and tasted like they boiled it first. It was soggy. more

Not a good experience 6/14/2010

Contrary to many of the reviews on this site, my experience at this restaurant was absolutely horrible. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but too many things were just extremely wrong about this place, to call it anything close to a dining experience. The seating was uncomfortable, the environment was dark, warm, and humid with a bunch of fruit flies all over the place. The food was about as poor in quality as possible. We ate the gumbo as an appetizer and it including some spoiled shrimp, totally disgusting. I give them a pass on this one, could have just been one bad little shrimper in a batch of good. Too play it safe, I ordered a burger as an entree, however, I had to send it back to the kitchen because it was absolutely charred beyond belief! The second time it came out, I was expecting something better, however, again the same result, an un-edible burger. I had an $8 glass of what they called white sangria. They basically took their cheapest white wine and served it up, are they joking? This place is a nightmare, I would never spend my money here again, its way over-priced for food that is absolutely horrible. Save your time and money, avoid this place. Cons: Poorly prepared food, lax wait staff, gross environment more

Atlanta's best barbecue 4/19/2010

I never thought I'd say this, but my favorite barbecue isn't Fox Bros or Community Cue, or even Harolds. It only happens once a week at an international-style gastropub of all places. In a slick mix-use development in Inman Park. Really. Every Monday night, P'cheen lets cooking badass Mike LaSage run the kitchen, with Mike's Bone Lick BBQ. Holy awesome. Ribs are smoky and dry, pork goes the NC-style with a vinegar bite, chicken tastes like it's been in a smoker for days... I know there are some good sides and such, but the 'cue is where it's at. So this Monday, take my word for it and hit a place that features DJ's and soccer matches for ... Atlanta's best barbecue. more

All-you-can-eat crab legs and so much more. 2/19/2010

Taking residence in newly revitalized 4th Ward is a recipe for greatness. And P'cheen is no exception. It's hard to put P'cheen in one category. It's equal parts pub, international restaurant, and art gallery. A good friend recommended that I come to P'Cheen for months. I finally made the journey there specifically to partake in their ""All-You-Can-Eat Snow Crab"" Wednesdays. Upon entering, I was intrigued by decor and faux finished walls with intricate pencil drawings throughout. Reservations are recommended for the crab night on Wednesdays, because it was packed. It took about 15-20 minutes to get seated, even with reservations. Once seated, we were ready for a lively drink to spark the night off right. We started with the featured specialty cocktails of a cosmopolitan and lemon drop martini. Suffice to say, we were underwhelmed by the bland concoction. I took a survey of the room, and saw most patrons with either wine or beer. A good enough sign if any that the bar game is not where it should be. We continued the night with white wine, in which we were thoroughly pleased given the small selection to choose from. Once the crab started coming out, it was superb. Perfectly seasoned and hot with delicate potatoes, corn, and a fresh baguette. A good tip is to get there early for the crab on Wednesdays; they stop serving it to walk-ins after 10:30pm or so to make sure there is enough to go around for the guests that made reservations. After we had our fill of sweet snow crab, we perused the menu for future outings. The menu outside of the crab is none to shabby. Selections from bacon-wrapped garlic chicken to Guinness battered fish & chips to Thai-style steak salad, by all definitions run the gambit of flavor and international food techniques. P'cheen simply shines with ambiance and internationally inspired food. Check out their website for monthly events, featured artists, and weekly music sets by top Atlanta DJs. Pros: Intimate setting, great food, weekly events/specials Cons: Table wait, even with reservations, specialty drinks more

we are regulars 4/10/2009

It was originally advertised as an Irish pub but there isn't much to that. Even the servers don't really know that is supposed to be the theme. But it is very comfortable to hang out and the crowd really gets kickin around 11:30 or so. I think other reviews are being too hard on these guys. Its a great place! Pros: atmosphere, food, helped me find my weddding band Cons: confusing atmosphere more

Great neighborhood place 11/21/2008

I just moved in the area and love this place. Interesting menu, prices are great, and the service staff is friendly. Grreat beer selection as well! Pros: Great beer selection, warm atmosphere Cons: Gets really packed on certain nights more

Good....Lacking in Beer Selection 11/11/2008

I really like P'cheen's food and I enjoy going, but they really need to develop a better beer selection. A few rotating High Gravity beers just don't cut it. They need better MicroBrew selections. Pros: Food, Atmosphere and Location Cons: Beer Selection more

Relaxing, Enjoyable, and Friendly Staff!!! 9/26/2008

So... I just recently moved up to Atlanta and I have been here twice within one week! The first time was with a few friends for drinks. The second was for ALL YOU CAN EAT crab legs on Wednesday nights! Yum, very delicious! They have the best selection of beer! BE SURE to ask about their HIGH GRAVITY BEER!!! The atmosphere is casual, relaxing, and very chill! You get an immediate feeling of comfort as soon as you walk in. The people are very friendly. I had a question for our waitor and he did whatever it took to find the solution for me. The manager/ owner that could answer my question, immediately came over to my table. He was very personable and friendly. He answered my question and I was completely satisfied. Its a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy your company. Not sure if it is every night, but they definitely have music on some of the nights! I was completely satisfied with the service and will definitely be going back!!! Highly Highly Recommended!!!! Pros: Pretty Much Everything Cons: Parking more

Frozen Chicken, Bad Service 9/22/2008

My first time to P'Cheen I had good food and good service. However, the last (and by last I do mean last) time I ventured there I was served the chicken which was warm on the outside but FROZEN on the inside. When I brought this to the manager's attention, he merely mentioned they had a new cook rather than offering to comp my dish, and apologize which is what I would expect from a restaurant when serving frozen food to their customers. I liked the cozy atmosphere, but seriously frozen chicken is not acceptable. more

frat party atmosphere 9/2/2008

My boyfriend and I live in the Old Fourth Ward and were excited to see an Irish Pub come to the neighborhood. We stopped in for a few drinks one night and found out there was nothing Irish about the place. They were playing club music. The bartenders were rude, one of them yelled at another bartender, obviously a new guy, for something that wasn't even his fault! I thought the poor guy was going to burst into tears. My boyfriend pulled him aside and told him we saw the whole thing and knew it wasn't his fault and that he didn't deserve that kind of treatment. The owner of the place was in there drinking and absolutely WASTED. To top the night off, my boyfriend accidentally knocked over a guys drink, which he had on the ground by the way, and the guy went nuts threatening to beat up my boyfriend. The guy was in a group of people with the drunken owner and the owner just sat there in a drunken stupor while his equally WASTED friends threatened to beat us up. Needless to say, we left and won't go back. Pros: great concept Cons: lack of execution more

Mediocre Food 6/5/2008

I was excited to learn about P'Cheen (which means moonshine in Irish) because I love Irish Food. I know that this is also a bar, but they promote themselves as having great food. I was so disappointed in the greasy fish and chips and the mushy peas. And to make matters worse, durning our dinner the owner came over to our booth and asked us to get up so he could plug in a cord under the seat. more

Great Hangout, Amazing Food 5/16/2008

I must say I was skeptical when we walked by and the sign said ""best pub food in Atlanta"". I am not a big pub food fan, but we looked at the menu, and when we saw coconut curried mussels, I decided to give it a try. We have been hooked ever since. The menu is seasonal, based on what is fresh and every dish has a personal twist to it. They have great beer specials. The variety of food choices is good enough to make anyone happy. Service does seem to assume you are spending the entire night there, and is not always the fastest. But we usually are with friends, drinking and hanging out. Therefore if you are trying to get in and out quickly, this is not the place for you. The music is hosted by a variety of local DJ's, and is not always there. The music usually doesn't start till later at night, after the kitchen is closed and it becomes more of a bar. One more thing, the brunch is delish and there is noooo wait! If you like a spicy Bloody Mary they are the best, home made mix and they pickle their own pickles.....Amazing! Great place, for a great night?or brunch. Pros: Ambience, Food, Drinks, Beer List, Outdoor Seating Cons: Slower Service more

Great atmosphere, food, drink selection - high end Irish pub with a lounge feel 3/6/2008

P'Cheen is a really nice place to go for dinner or drinks. The food is amazing, especially the vegetables. The beer selection is top notch and everchanging. The crowd is urban, chilled out. There are a couple of TVs that they'll put a game on for you upon request. Parking is on the street, but it's always easy to find a space. Note: Try and park on the East Side of Samson Street (i.e. in front of the apartments/lofts). If you park on the West Side, especially on the bridge over Freedom Parkway there's a risk of getting a window smashed in. Pros: Atmosphere, Beer Selection, Food Cons: Occasionally too crowded more

great food, good music, HORRIBLE service! 1/3/2008

I checked out P'Cheen a couple of weeks ago with a few friends. The food was tasty. I had the curried mussles which were outstanding. The atmosphere was relaxing, and they were playing some nice down tempo music. Pros: food, music Cons: service more

Great place for after work 10/10/2007

I live in the Old Fourth Ward and have taken P'Cheen as my neighborhood bar. The outdoor seating is perfect for meeting people. You can sit outside and see your neighbors drive by and invite them to come join you for a meal or beer. Many times we start out with a few friends around a table and end up pulling 3, 4, 5 tables together and end up with a group of 15 or so. The staff is top notch. They have been friendly, accomodating, and on top of our needs. They anticipate our need for a refil or when to clear the table of plates, silver, etc. They have learned our names, usual drinks and apps, and treat us like part of the family. more

Best Neighborhood Bar 7/7/2007

I moved to the Old Fourth Ward last year and have found P'Cheen to be my favorite neighborhood pub. The staff and owners have always been very friendly. The pub is very clean and the atmosphere is fantastic (even the restrooms are among the most sanitary and actually smell pleasant). This gastropub has a great selection of seasonal beers and the most outstanding Fish & Chips (And I have had some pathetic Fish & Chips at other bars in Atlanta). I also was very fond of the roasted portabella salad and the shrimp agli olio. more

Cool and tastey, with a couple of glitches 7/6/2007

My wifeand I are new to Atlanta and make it a point to explore new restaurants/bars/pubs every Saturday. We are not cursed with children, so we can do that sort of thing. We came from Houston, a town that definately loves it's food, and have been extremely impressed with Atlanta so far. Last weekend we actually dragged several co-workers on a 'Pub Crawl' that began at P'Cheen at about 2:00 Satruday afternoon. Pros: Relaxed, promt service Cons: Portions on some dishes, stark feel more

nice outdoor seating 6/19/2007

I am so sick of visiting places in atlanta and receiving mediocre service. I have visited this place on several attempts after a busy night at work. The service has been neither here nor there. The thing that kills me is when its owners are working and the place is full, they give last call. Everyone orders a last beer and literally 10 mins later one of the owners is at your table......Really, I love you all but you need to leave. I am sorry you gave last call 10 minutes ago. I have seen them kick out at least 30-40 people on a friday night. After they give last call they are all at the bar pouring beers and drinking. We went back saturday and sat outside same thing. Our server told us that he was at trackside until 6am (the same server that asked us to leave the night before). After we felt forced to chug our full beers that we left. You would think the owners would want the business instead of kicking it out. Pros: nice outdoor seating more

Ok for a beer; overfried fish and chips; best for trendy folks 5/6/2007

So there's no dreary pub-like atmosphere, and there is natural light that abounds Pros: Nice natural light, good for grabbing a quick beer Cons: Overfried fish and chips; overly pretentious for a neighborhood bar more
