Amazing MD, and Human Being! 4/22/2009

I’ve known Dr Steve for almost 25 years now and never once would he not accommodate me, and not just accommodate, but always with a Big Smile and warmth that tells me I’m in good hands. He’s seen me for everything from the common cold to broken bones and back injuries, and when it’s something he’s concerned about, he’s on the phone to a specialist, setting up an imitate appointment to make sure I’ll be in the best health possible. I work with my hands and after a time in emergency and was treated for a fracture, I took the X-Rays to him for a second opinion, well he was sure it was fine, but again wanted me to be seen by a hand specialist at UCLA, so I went from his office right to the office of one of the best hand guys in town! ? There was a case where even on a Sunday he’d made himself available, granted he has a life outside of work, but I really know how important his patients are to him. His staff are equally friendly and organized, not to mention the décor is warm and inviting, and if ya happen to be a music fan you’ll be treated to a fine collection of memorabilia, he’s also a great player, I know I’ve seen him perform, and can sing as well, so he’s human as well and is open to different types of treatments and encourages his patients to participate in they’re own recovery and well being. And for the ladies, he’s easy on the eyes as well! Pros: The Best more

Wonderfully accessible, competent doctor!! 4/17/2009

Years ago, our family was thrilled to find a local doctor who wasn't part of a huge practice. Everything about his office is personal. I especially like the fact that some of who HE is is on display in his office! Dr. Patt himself comes to the waiting room to usher you into his office for a comfortable chat (often in the company of one of his wonderful companion dogs who venture next door to the hospital to visit patients!) about what's going on with you. Then into the exam room, where he has an array of equipment to perform simple tests himself instead of sending you elsewhere. So some results are immediate. That means that one's mind can be put at ease about some concerns and, often, the problem can be treated immediately. When necessary, Dr. Patt treats a problem aggressively. I recently had a lingering illness which was treated, to no avail, while I was on vacation. Dr. Patt cleared it up in one visit! On another occasion, when my husband was mauled by a dog, Dr. Patt stitched him up right in the office! We have always found his medical treatment appropriate and always successful! I think one of the things I love is that his office tries so hard to fit you in if you're sick. Not too long ago, I was thanking him for squeezing me in and he said, ""Well, I wouldn't be a very good doctor if you couldn't get in to see me when you're sick!"" The atmosphere in his office is casual, but he is very professional and his care is top-notch! Pros: small office, personal care more

Horrible Dr and Staff- and very odd 3/24/2009

First of all - I came to the office which was quite casual (not a bad thing) with his dog in his office while you wait- He was very nice but after my appointment ,i went through a series of calling - never being called back- when i finally did reach them- they.....""oops lost my file."" I nicely asked if they needed me to come in again- ""no - laugh, we will find it-its some where here"" Then i called saying i needed a signature for approval to do volunteer work at the ER at St Johns (which they are part of) I said should i come in and have him sign it- i need it soon so i can volunteer? ""no just drop off and we will mail along with your results"" nothing for weeks- Next thing i know i get a letter saying there are differences that cannot be resolved that interfere with doctor- patient relationship and they can no longer take me as a patient due to these problems (problems? which means I guess I am too demanding of a patient wanting an organized office who calls me back???) If i have an emergency they will take me but after 10 days I should contact LA County Medical! Insulting and a waste of my time! Just don't expect anything and you will be ok as a patient if you decide to pick him as a doctor! Pros: close to me Cons: Rude - unorganized- horrible more

Excellent doctor and experience!!! 12/23/2008

Los Angeles can be a tricky place to find a great doctor. Often times, in order to get see ""the best"" - we have to pay an arm and a leg (no pun intended) and submit a resume of who you know along with an application simply to get an appointment in five weeks. At times, it seems easier at times to only visit a doctor when we are really ill. Well, that isn't smart. Prevention is imperative as is an advocate with experience and knowledge. Dr. Patt is a pro. \r \r He is caring, smart, timely and professional. While a portion of his practice does service entertainment industry professionals (yes, that does include actors and artists) he also treats entertainment executives and every day folks not in the entertainment industry - and all with the same integrity, respect and attention. \r \r He always takes the time to LISTEN to me and has always gone the extra mile to make me feel comfortable and understand what my course of treatment wil be or what I need to do to remedy a minor situation or a recurring or chronic issue so my life can improve. \r \r Medicine isn't always easy or perfect but when a doctor makes you feel like you are at home - it puts the patient in a good place. Well, Dr. P is the man for the job. His staff is on top of things and he takes insurance and his billing is simple and effective. Reasonable prices (his fees are normal) and if insurance declines a claim - he understands that we need not be stressed by the messed up health care system and will figure out how to remedy a situation (of course we are financially responsible for treatment/care). I feel his goal is to see his patients live healthy and well balanced lives. I really respect and admire Dr. Patt because he is not just dedicated to his work but he really goes the extra mile. Service, science and a smile - WOW! \r \r -BB Pros: Excellent care and quick to respond Cons: Parking can run up to $12 more

A very nice man... 9/16/2008

Best doctor ever...I'm new to Los Angeles, and had some difficulty finding anybody who who would see a new patient! The girls in Dr. Patt's office were knowledgeable about my insurance, squeezed me in right away (I had a urinary infection and really needed someone right away!).The doctor was kind, took his time with me, and very thorough. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, especially being a stranger in a big city. Oh, and the doctor has a beautiful service dog, Sally, who goes everywhere with him, including housecalls! Pros: Timely, very smart, and kind Cons: Can't think of any! more

Worst Dr. EVER!!!! 9/2/2008

After our insurance changed attempting to find another Dr. was difficult enough. I interviewed multiple offices and chose Dr. Patt's office. I had explained to their staff we were desiring a FAMILY Dr. for our 4 children as well as my husband and myself. At the time of enrollment that was fine with their office. Once we had to have an appointment due to an illness their number 3105821114 was not answered by even an on call service. After making a follow up appt. after our ER visit we were met with an indignant staff and arrogant Dr. Patt. He brought his animals to work with him and scoffed at the fact that one of our occupations involved breeding, showing and selling animals. \r After the first visit we were told 4 weeks later (by voicemail) that the Dr.'s office was no longer accecting ""children"" as patients and was sent a copy of bloodwork to forward to our ""New"" physician. After attempting to again locate another family Dr. we decided to keep Dr. Patt's office for the adults and to find another pediatrician. (this was my spouses idea). After an appt. for my spouse was made a FULL 6 weeks later we were notified less than 24 hours before the appt that Dr. Patt's office was no longer accepting ""families"". Not just children and that my spouses appt. for the following day would be cancelled.\r We had cards from the medical insurance for a good 2 1/2 months and the manner in which this Dr. and his staff conducted themselves is beyond bazaar.\r A complaint with the Medical Board has been filed as well as with the insurance company who carries our insurance.\r Cons: no contact for emergencies, does not accept children or familes in a family practice more

Nice doctor 3/23/2007

He gives you his email address and lets you contact him. He will even make house calls if you really need it. He is associated with St. Johns hospital. Pros: Not sure Cons: expect a return call on the second day more

The Best Family Doctor in Los Angeles--Bar None! 1/23/2007

Going to see Dr. Stephen Patt at his private office in Santa Monica was the best experience I've had with another human being since I moved to Los Angeles from New York--he's kind, funny, took his time explaining the exam, and was extremely perceptive. There's a reason this guy (besides being supermodel handsome, six feet tall, and charming) is doctor to every major star in Hollywood--he really cares about helping people! Pros: Charming female staff, beautiful offices, and a terrific Family Doctor. Cons: Parking is a bit pricey, but well worth it, plus there always seems to be street parking. more
