Best

Live on the uppereast and is definitely a favorite spot of mine. I love eating at their bar. Oysters, sliders and steak are all so good. Brunch is a crazy fun atmosphere.

Worst

The main room can get a little loud when it's primetime, but the ambience is great. The second negative thing I have to say is that the portions are way too small. Appetizers are ...

Terrible. Overpriced pub grub. 12/1/2011

Terrible. Way over priced pub grub. I live across the street and want to like the place but every meal I've had is a big disappointment. Why this place is popular is a total mystery to me and to my neighbors. more

The best ever! 10/21/2010

we bring all our friends here. The food is always perfect as are the drinks. The prices are average. The staff is so kind and we eat there at least 3-4 times a month. more

Phenomenal Porterhouse 6/22/2010

Was taken here for my birthday. We loved the crab cakes and the aioli sauce. We also got the porterhouse for two and it was amazing. The steak came with four sauces - bearnaise, horseradish, herbs and lime, and red wine reduction but to be honest, it was best with just a little salt and pepper - it didn't need any sauces at all. We got two sides - creamed spinach and whipped potatoes, and the creamed spinach was better. Pros: Great Steak, Wonderful Crab Cakes Cons: Pricey (obviously, its a steakhouse) more

food no good 7/26/2009

i come from china last week on business and i want to try american food. i came to parlor steakhouse hoping to find good american steak. steak came bloody, and too much salt. i send it back for it to be cooked longer, and it was still too much salt. i think, what if i try something else? so i order the chicken, thinking, who could mess up chicken? parlor brouight me a chicken with bland sauce and chicken was dry. the drinks are good though. very tasty. i would not reccomend parlor steakhouse if you want to waste money. Pros: good staff Cons: food not so good more

Staff problems??? 7/26/2009

as a local to the upper east side, i wanted to try parlor for the longest time. I always passed this place on the way to work, and it looked decent so i decided to try it. I was greeted by a man and a young girl. the man appeared to look extremely annoyed. we were seated at the bar and decided to get some drinks. the first thing i noticed was the man behind the hostess stand blatantly yelling at the staff so loud that i could barely hear my own conversation with my boyfriend. it made me feel like things in the restaurant were out of control, so we left after one drink. we decided to head over to T-Bar instead where our food was outstanding! D- for parlor Pros: good wine?? Cons: horrible food, horrible service more

Yummy and Fun 7/3/2009

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Went to Parlor with two of my guy friends and had dinner at the bar. First of all they have dollar oysters late night, so we housed about two dozens of those and then the boys wanted to get the dry aged strip for two and I got the petit filet. My steak was juicy and delicious, cooked a perfect rare. We got some sides of mac and cheese and creamed spinach and the fried onions all which were indulgent and good. The scene at the bar was pretty happening, a lot of people in their late twenties, early thirties good looking, a bit of an older crowd but they cleared out right as we got there. The staff was friendly and funny and over all pretty good looking, which is always nice. I would definitely love to come back for a full on three course meal or maybe just to watch the game and booze at the bar. They had a great cocktail list, original and diverse but their white wine selection (by the glass) was pretty limited. if you have a great raw bar have some good whites ot pair it with! Looking forward to going back. Pros: Decor, Petit Filet, raw bar, cocktail list Cons: white wines by the glass more

NO THANK YOU 3/30/2009

I eat out a lot but this place is really underwhelming. Food is ok, but service lacks pretty much everything. Managers either hover or are nowhere to be seen. I had a rib eye that was good but all in all my boyfriend and I felt that there was too much food for 2 people and also, the prices are so crazy that it's hard to justify not eating everything. Nothing to write home about. more

NOT WORTH YOUR TRIP! 3/24/2009

Wow.....what a total disappointment!!! We've been to Parlor once previously on a special occasion and were totally and thoroughly impressed. Naturally, we expected a similar experience.....but unfortunately, that was not to be. On a Saturday evening at 9PM, we'd expect the service and food to be tip top. Instead, the quality of porterhouse steak we ordered was sub-standard and clearly not cooked to our requested medium rare. To make matters worse, we we disappointed in the moderately disinterested service. Having a screaming undisciplined child at a table in the backround in conjunction with a loud roud bunch of guys did not add anything positive to our experience. Sadly, it is no wonder the restaurant was half-empty during a prime time Saturday evening. more

Put it at the top of the list 2/2/2009

I've been to Parlor several times and I think it needs to be put at the top of the list for the Upper East Side. Great service, friendly staff, sleek layout and of course excellent food. I know that I'll be taken good care of when I go whether I'm with a large party or for an intimate dinner. I would highly recommend it. more

Finally a great restaurant and chic vibe on the UES! 1/19/2009

Recently had a 30th birthday dinner for my girlfriend at Parlor. Have lived on the UES for 5 years and have been waiting to have a local spot exciting enough to invite our ""downtown-centric"" friends up for a good time. And this place does not disappoint. Our party of 14 was sat downstairs at the perfect table next to the bar and basically had personal attention from 2 waiters the whole evening... The table started off with a raw bar plateau that was very fresh and delicious as well as the excellent chopped salad... For entrees, the group mostly had steaks and fish - with the Rib Eye and the Branzino stealing the show (although I heard good things about the Strip & the Scallops - guess we'll have to go back). All in all - was a great time, definitely gives us a bargaining chip to convince our friends to come back up to the UES! Pros: Downtown vibe on the UES, great food, great wine list more

AVOID THIS PLACE 1/8/2009

Stay away from this Ruth Chris, Strip House wannabe. The service is poor and annoying, rushed feeling upon entry, overpriced wine, fatty steaks, you name it they got it. Good for steak novices (those who eat at Outback) but not those who know food. Value Poor Service Poor Food Poor Decor. more

Incredible food, even better service! 1/2/2009

I recently ate at Parlor and had an incredible experience. My parents came in from out of town for the weekend and I wanted to take them to a nice restaurant. I asked some friends if they knew of any restaurants on the upper east side that had good seafood. I was told of a fairly new place called Parlor Steakhouse that had both seafood and steaks. My parents and I were greeted immediately by the friendly hostess who saw us to our table. It was a great table by the window. We started the meal off with the chopped salad and the tuna sashimi. It was delicious. Our waiter was very friendly, I think his name was Hugh. My mother wanted to have seafood and asked the waiter what he recommended. He told her the Branzino was great and people really enjoy it. She never had it before but our waiter was very passionate and she trusted him. It was a very good decision because she couldnt stop talking about it when she finished it. She still calls me and tells me she needs to visit again and order the Branzino. My father ordered steak and I had the salmon. Both were VERY good. We ordered the passion fruit dessert and it was out of this world. I had never tried a passion fruit dessert before but out waiter swore by it. The chef came out during dessert and talked to us about our meals. My parents loved this as they felt like VIP's. I highly, highly recommend this restaurant. It was one of the best places I have eaten at since moving to the city 3 years ago. Service was fast, our waiter was great, food was amazing, the prices were reasonable and the ambiance was pleasant. Definitely a restaurant I will recommend to all my friends. Pros: Incredible service!!, Delicious food more

Avoid Parlor Steakhouse! 12/31/2008

Parlor Steakhouse is a major disappointment. We were served a plate of olive oil without bread and had to eventually ask for the bread. We went there for dinner last night and ordered the chicken dinners. The portions were very small, and not very good. The chicken came with a tablespoon of mashed potato and a tablespoon of sauteed mushrooms. There were no vegetables included in this very pricey and subpar dish. My husband had to order a side dish of spinach to complete the meal. The spinach was loaded with salt as was everything else on our plates. Apparently, other dishes are overly salted too. The woman sitting at the next table sent her salmon back because it was far too salty. To finish the meal I was served a large cup of very unfresh coffee. This restaurant should be avoided!!! Pros: Comfortable Seating, Pleasant Staff Cons: Pricey poor quality heavily salted food more

Great Brunch too! 12/30/2008

I've been to Parlor a few times for dinner and have really liked it. The linguini pasta is a great appetizer and the shrimp cocktail were giant and really fresh. The steak is very good and we loved the Bearnaise sauce. more

WANNA BE 10/18/2008

MY HUSBAND AND I AND A GROUP OF FRIENDS DINED AT PARLOR THE OTHER NIGHT, WE SAT DOWNSTAIRS ON A CUTE COZY ROOM EXPECTING GOOD THINGS DUE TO RAVE THATS GOING ON ABOUT PARLOR. WELL, NO RAVE HERE WHATS SO EVER. THE SERVICE IS DINNER STYLE, THE STAFF SEEMS LIKE TGIF QUALITY CLUELESS AND SLOW. THE FOOD IS AVERAGE, THE SOUP IS KID PORTIONED, THE CHOP SALAD WAS WAY TO SALTY, AND THE NY STRIP THAT I HAD WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO STEAKHOUSE QUALITY. MY HUSBANDS FILET WAS TINY FOR $43 AND THE SIDES WERE MEDIOCRE, OVERALL THEY NEED MAJOR WORK AND IT SEEMS LIKE THE BUZZ WONT LAST SINCE I HAVE SPOKEN TO FRIENDS AND THEY FEEL THE SAME WAY. I HEARD A BIG NAME STEAKHOUSE IS OPENING ON UES THANK GOD WE CAN FINALLY HAVE QUALITY FOOD AND SERVICE IN A QUALITY NEIGHBORHOOD. Pros: DECOR Cons: SERVICE,FOOD,PRICES. more

Pricey for small portions with no ""wow"" factor 9/25/2008

The main room can get a little loud when it's primetime, but the ambience is great. The second negative thing I have to say is that the portions are way too small. Appetizers are very tasty including the beet salad and sashimi, but you definitely need an entree, side dish and dessert to fill you up. It?s too pricey for the small portions, and with no ""wow"" factor. Pros: Ambience, flat screen TVs Cons: Portions, Pricey, Average Food more

Great new addition to the neighborhood 9/17/2008

From the moment my party and I walked in the Parlor we were greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. I had made a reservation for five but had gained a sixth at the last minute. The maitre'd was more than happy to seat us all. From start to finish the service was pleasantly attentive. Our server was helpfull in making suggestions. Food was excellent. If you like fresh seafood I would highly recommend trying the raw bar. All of my guest thought it was a great place. We definetly agreed we would try this place again. more

Horrible waitstuff 9/4/2008

First of all, I have never experienced a more rude wait staff in all my life. I've traveled all over the United States and the world, and not even a low-rent McDonalds could undercut this place on lack of service. A waiter stood over us after the meal demanding to be tipped an astronomical amount. I had to speak with the manager before I left. The food, to be fair, was good. The steak was big, the spinach creamy and the mash potatoes were wonderful. But I wouldn't recommended this place unless you want to sip on the same drink for 90 minutes or just have a thing for being treated rudely. more

poor management 8/31/2008

The one good thing about this place decor.east side has only a couple of places like this, particularly east of Park Ave and they only opened up in the past two years.Food is above average (do not expect SW steak kind of quality but it's still pretty ok). My experience was however tainted by the waiter ,who doesn't care acting like he was the owner, so is the Management, me and my friend went there 2 days before labor day and service was ok but we saw how Manager was yelling at the waiter.. Pros: no parking more
