Never Going Back 12/12/2009

I am sad to say that I will not be going to Park Cafe again. It was one of our favorite spots until today. I was there with 4 adults and an infant and they tried to seat us in a very small four-top. When I told them that this table would not work, the hostess (owner) was very rude about getting us another table. Once we did get a bigger table, her staff proceeded to harass us and glare at us during the entire breakfast. I called to discuss the matter, and she told me that I was rude to tell her that that table would not work for us. As a paying customer who waited for a table, I don't think this was an unreasonable request. Sad to say this but we will not be returning. I don't want to eat my breakfast crammed into a table and I certainly don't want to have an entire staff harass me while I am eating. Cons: rude service! more

Great Hangover Place 9/2/2009

This adorable little restaraunt opens early, and they hustle to bring your breakfast on those morning when you wake up with an empty refridgerator and an empty stomach. Always serving great food with a smile, I'll definitely keep coming. Pros: Fast, Reliable Service Cons: No Time to Relax and Drink Coffee more

Love the Park Cafe Except their BAD Coffee!! 2/8/2009

Great location, good food, fast service -but the worst coffee in town. Please make better coffee, please!!! more

fast, good food, great service. 7/9/2008

I love this place, I have been a regular here for a while now and they never dissappoint! Not only do they have great food with good sized portions but they are very reasonably priced. They have a great local, neighborhood feel and they staff is alway nice and accommidating. Once the waitstaff sees you a few times, they really treat you like your special! Again I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Pros: bacon! french toast! potatoes! burgers! Service! FAST! Cons: hmmmmm, I guess parking???? more

good breakfast 6/21/2008

the food is most excellent. the tables are very close together and the clientele during the school year seems to be mostly students. the policy of not seating parties until everyone arrives is much appreciated. food arrives quickly and is hot and excellently presented. there is usually a wait on weekends. Pros: food, service Cons: proximity of tables, parking, wait more

Pancake sandwich 5/28/2008

Imagine - 2 pancakes, eggs & bacon inside. If that doesn't say fabulous diner....then; well obviously you don't know your pancake sandwiches (my boyfriend's favorite). Coffee was ok, and portions were huge & similar to what you could create in your own kitchen given the necessary ingredients. Our table had pancakes & french toast + 2 coffees & the bill was only ~$9!!!! The view of Liberty park is great & the service is very friendly. Only complaint = no butter, just margarine. Sometimes pancakes & toast just need the real thing. Pros: Close to Liberty Park, big fluffy pancakes! CHEAP! Cons: No butter or real maple syrup. more

Great Price, Awesome Atmosphere, Lovely Staff , Perfect Potatoes 4/5/2008

Repeat customer. Love this place. Probably the best french toast I have ever had. Everyone is so friendly and they always remember our order. One of my top 3 breakfast spots. Prompt service, clean simple, awesome. I also really like how they won't seat incomplete parties. The eatery I work at should follow that motto. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. Always worth the wait. SIMPLE = MORE Pros: great value, light airy atomsphere, awesome food Cons: no cons, only pros more

Breakfast just isn't as good anywhere else! 7/12/2007

I am definitely a regular at the Park Cafe. The breakfast and lunch items are just so tasty, the portions are huge, it?s really inexpensive and the food comes out so fast; which are all pluses! The main review on this page is all wrong. The menu has changed since the new owners took over about 3.5 years ago. It was a change for the better! Not only is the food more amazing, the cafe is so much cleaner, there?s a fun and friendly atmosphere and the service is pretty amazing. It gets really busy during weekday lunchtimes and on the weekends, but it is worth the wait! It also has a fabulous location just south of Liberty Park, which the cafe faces. I love the Park Cafe so much that I miss it when I?m out of town and it?s the first place I eat at when I come home. If you?ve never tried it, you?re missing out. more

Repeat Customer 12/2/2005

I love ""the park""! The food is delicious, the waitstaff is friendly and very attentive, and the atmosphere is inviting! It is one of the few restaurants that you will always leave feeling satisfied. They even had coloring books for the kids! Pros: Inexpensive, large portions, they aim to please more

best in slc 12/1/2005

After hearing from tons of people how great the ""new"" park cafe is I had to try it. Not only was my breakfast huge and perfectly cooked, but the service was awesome. I went back the same week for lunch...they have the very best home made soups!!! Both times my waitress was friendly and kept my iced tea full. I definately suggest that you try it. ps they're great with substitutions and the potatoes are incredible Pros: food, pricing, service more

Good meeting place 11/30/2005

I was invited to a work meeting at the Park Cafe last week and it was great. They were very helpful and prompt in putting tables together for our large group of 11. Prices are inexpensive, so it is not a weekly financial strain. Good variety and good service Pros: inexpensive, group service more

Comfort Food 11/24/2005

This is my favorite new spot for breakfast and lunch. The breakfast potatoes are amazing, good thick bacon, HUGE pancakes, yummy french toast, omelets are delicious just make sure you come hungry because the portions are huge. My coffee cup was never empty. You can get breakfast all day. I've had their burgers too and they are really good and big. And it is really inexpensive too. Pros: great food, cheap/big portions, fast friendly service Cons: crowded, small waiting area more

Not a place for kids 11/11/2005

Don't bring your small children here. It is not a good place. Additionally, the food wasn't so great, neither was the service and some manager was yelling at some lady while we were there. Won't go back for a long time. Cons: Bad for kids, crowded, bad food more

Change is good 8/18/2004

Now that The Park has changed ownership and finished renovations, it is the best place to go for quality food and friendly service. The omelettes come in a number of tasty varieties and the pancakes are the best I've ever had - very light and fluffy. But bring a friend because portions are huge. Pros: Delicious food, Friendly service, Inexpensive more

A new change? 3/24/2004

I had breakfast there a couple weeks ago and the service was terrible. Also, for the price of breakfast the food should be much better. I heard that there is an ownership change and the new owners are completely rehabing the interior (much needed). Hopefully, they will have new staff and a more reasonable prices for breakfast. I will try it again. The atmosphere with the windows overlooking the park is too good to pass up. Pros: Location Cons: , poor service more

not worth it 7/10/2003

Me and a friend went there on a Thursday morning, all the seats outside were taken so we sat inside near the door. It took the waitresses quite awhile to recognize we were there and I asked for coffee and only got 1 refill during the entire hour we were there. My friend had to repeatedly ask for more water, the chicken apple sausage was overcooked, the eggs flaky and the same with the waitresses. She tossed the bill down and walked away, not asking if we needed change. We left the exact amount and no tip. As we were walking out, all 4 waitresses were cleaning up and taking the money. Pros: Ambience Cons: Service, Food, Expensive more

Park Cafe 6/2/2003

Mediocre food and very poor service. The wait staff is very undertrained in the ways of service industry. The young woman we encountered held our water glasses by the rim. After we ordered, we didn't catch another glimpse of our waitress until the bill was ""tossed"" on the table about midway through the meal (she is generally very surley on the occasions I've dined there) and it was picked up by someone else. I'll be spending my money elsewhere, sorry. Cons: poor service, mediocre food more

Good food, terrible service 3/25/2003

The food at the Park Cafe is excellent, however, I rarely eat there because the service is so bad. I don't know where they get their waitresses from but they are all snotty and rude. It's as though they know how good their food is, so they know they can treat the customers poorly. more

An excellent breakfast 1/13/2003

The Park Cafe has excellent breakfasts before a morning walk at Liberty Park. The omelettes are wonderful, the coffee is fresh, and the dining room is bright and open. more

Heading Downhill Fast 11/19/2002

This used to be a fine place for breakfast but my latest visit will be my last. Our table was jammed in the middle of the room leaving no room for the servers with the predictable result of every person passing jostled our chairs. The Mexican hash was inedible, a mixture of salt laden chorizo sausage mixed with raw red onions and served with an old tortilla. My friend's chair had raspberry jam on it which of course stained his clothes. Not a pleasant experience at all. Pros: location Cons: food, service, cleanliness more
