C'est Manifique 5/18/2008

This is the most fun I have ever had in one afternoon...well at least out in public. You wouldn't think at first glance that they couldn't fit this much merchandise in one building, but I for one am glad that they did. When we arrived we were kindly greeted by the owner and his wife who thoughtfully asked if we'd (my mom and I) been there before. Since it was our first time, they gave us a a quick explanation of the shop and told us to ""have fun"" and we were on our way. Each room is an adventure filled with furniture, art, knick knacks and even a few mannequins. Although it's a lot to get through we found our way through it, and had a blast, even stopping for cookies and hot apple cider. My mom found a framed sketch that she absolutely had to have, and the owner gave her a great deal on it, and even a little interesting info about the part of New Orleans that was pictured in the sketch. All in all I thought that this place is a rare find, and you'd be crazy not to check it out!! I can't wait to go back, and see whats new!!\r \r \r \r \r I quickly have to add that the treasure box in the front made my three year old sons day. Pros: Selection, friendly service, great deals...and cookies. Cons: So much to see...so little time. more

You need not buy a ticket to Paris to get a taste of the French 5/15/2008

If you didn't know that Atlanta, GA was outside, one could easily be convinced that they were sifting through boutiques in the streets of Paris. The best thing about Atlanta are the people that make it up. Kudos to the owners for bringing us something culturally-rich with such scope and scale (and worth promoting). A walk through Paris on Ponce is a true visual experience, and on the weekends you may just stumble across Salsa or Tango dancing in Le Moulin Rouge room, of which you can join in or grab a table and just check out the scenery, free-of-charge. I highly recommend Paris on Ponce as an escape from the mundane. Pros: Lots to look at Cons: May require more than one trip to get through everything more

Amazing! 4/26/2008

This is just one of those places that has to be seen to be believed. Every trip to this place is an entirely new experience. This store is truly like none I've ever seen before. Even if it wasn't for the vast quantity of classic, quality vintage furniture available here (all for shockingly low prices),just the atmosphere here would make it a worthwhile visit. From drag queens to senators wives, people of all kinds are attracted to this fascinating shop.\r Besides which, the owners and employees are genuinely interesting, and EXTREMELY helpful. If you need advice of any kind- whether it's on decorating, holding a party in their lovely event space (Le Moulin Rouge), or just inquiring about a price, don't be afraid to ask.\r The store is splendid, and no two visits are ever the same- it seems to be constantly changing. You could get lost for hours in the huge selection of valuable pieces, and trust me, in a place like this, getting lost is a GOOD thing!\r Having recently moved, I was looking for furniture, and after visiting this splendid store, I found I had been able to furnish my home almost exclusively with items purchased from Paris on Ponce.\r The owner took the time to talk with me in order to get a sense\r of what the style I was looking for was, and even talked me out of buying things that wouldn't work together.\r With assistance from the two friendly, helpful and entertaining store owners, I was able to purchase many beautiful items that also look beautiful together. I was able to buy high end ""heirloom quality"" furniture from Ralph Lauren, Drexel Heritage and Martha Stewart Signature at this store- all for less money than mediocre quality ""room in a box"" items bought at retail furniture stores. The individuality found at this store is entirely unparalleled.\r \r P.S A famous song by Rene Marie, titled ""Paris on Ponce"" (named after the store, of course), was written entirely about this place. Ask them to play it for you- they'll happily oblige. Pros: Great service, wonderful furniture, beautiful antiques and lovely prices Cons: Could spend all day here, needs more than one visit as the items are constantly changing more

A Nice place to shop. 4/26/2008

I have purchased 4 items so far from this store. The prices are very reasonable (as I am a very cost conscious buyer). I am happy with the items I have gotten, high quality, low cost and they look great in my home. I found the bed I bought (paid the $700.00) for $3200.00 online. A great place to shop and free cookies too. LOL Pros: Lots of cool stuff !!!! Cons: Lots of Stuff to look at (it is too big for a one day visit). more

You don't get what you pay for 4/7/2008

I recently purchased a pair of end tables I was told were by a high-end designer, Ferguson Copeland, for which I could get double the price I paid ($900) on the Internet the next day. Seeing no brand or markings from any designer whatsoever, I've inquired with four different employees about some information. One said ""they might be EJ Victor,"" and each promised to call back with information. None ever did. They look like nothing on either company's website, so I really have my doubts, and feel I was scammed. My fault for buying them; they also had horribly chipped, beveled glass on the inserts. The staff agreed to replace one with a cheap, $30 plain piece of glass, and I had to pay for the other. Both times the glass has come back too small, but I am stuck with them now. I think the attitude is ""oh well, there are no refunds, so why should we care? If we can convince someone to buy something by telling them it's a high-end designer piece, more power to us!"" I won't be shopping there again. Pros: They have some interesting items Cons: Way overpriced and no integrity in selling, plus no returns allowed more

Rude-sketchy Owners 10/5/2007

I contacted the owners regarding a table and chairs they were holding on consignment for me and they said they could not find the set at first, then said they thought they had it sold, but someone backed out, etc. Something did not sound right to me, so I stopped by the store and was told they had it sold; however, the purchaser wanted it painted black, so they painted my table and chairs (without my permission). They continued to say that the person who wanted the set backed out (used an AMEX, so refused the purchase). They communicated this without a caring tone as if it was just my hard luck. I told them I'd need the set back in the original condition and was told they would and I should check back in a few weeks. I came back a few weeks later to find out they no longer had the table and chairs, or so they said. They claimed they gave it to charity since they had the set for so long. Very sketchy. I learned a valuable lesson and have chosen not to shop there or refer anyone to the store. Pros: Fair selection of furniture Cons: Feel like your being scammed more

Fabulous and quirky! 9/17/2007

This place is a playground. I always feel like a kid in a candy store in this shop. I love the way they have everything themed on the salesfloor. Best place intown for truly unique and unusual items. The garden accessory section is outstanding. The funky and easy going atmosphere is a nice escape from a hectic day. more

Atlanta's No Bargain Thrift Store! 9/7/2007

I love to shop for collectables and true antiques. I usually go to Scott Antique Market, or the defunct Lakewood. I've been in this store several times, and each visit, I feel I just left the remnants of a yard sale. I've priced a couple of items, but each time, I get a different price quote. Especially from a very large blonde lady. The building has somewhat of a musty odor, I guess that's the way it is at flea markets in Paris? But it is a colorful group of characters who shop here, drag queens to residents of Ponce. It is a great place to people watch. Pros: Colorful Patrons Shop Here! Cons: No Bargains On Thrift Store Merchandise! more

Indifferent staff, overpriced merchandise 10/6/2006

Ashort time back I made a trip to this establishment on the recommendation of a coworker. There were many beautiful pieces, but I was somewhat disturbed that prices weren't readily available. On 2 items I asked 2 sales people the price and was given 2 different prices. Small dollar difference, but a difference. Perhaps because there is way too much in the store on display, the difference in the prices. I did, however make a purchase, only to find a similar piece at an Asian importer, of all places, on Buford Highway. The piece on Buford was much cheaper! While I would not steer you elsewhere, you would be smart to compare merchadise, and prices elsewhere. You also are able to put merchandise on a hold basis for longer periods of time at other stores, and pieces are marked with a set price! Pros: Beautiful store; large selection Cons: Indifferent staff; expensive and so-so quality more

Great Stuff Great Value Great Owner 4/29/2005

Don't let the mish-mash merchandising style of this place throw you off. Under the layers of crap lie great treasures. A recent jaunt unveiled 2 Maitland-Smith bergeres and ottomans covered in Ralph Lauren leather for the whopping price of $750.00. Friendly staff, and an owner who drives (and accepts) a hard bargain, you can't go wrong here. They even delivered my chairs the same day for a small additional fee. Highly recommended.....every trip is an adventure. more

too cool 8/21/2002

I like this shop. It is large and fun. I do not like Antique malls. You can never talk to the owners of the stuff and they are impersonal. I have furnished most of our house here and buy things at fair prices. I used to buy in buckhead, but the prices there are astronomical. Pros: fun, good selection, interesting stuff Cons: parking more

Eclectic 5/19/2002

This mazelike antique/junk store makes for a fun afternoon of shopping. You really never know what you're going to find in this place. There's not much rhyme or reason to it. The store also gets so much stuff half of it doesn't have a price tag. Don't let that deter you: A sales assistant is always wandering about. Not for neat freaks or folks looking for ""rare"" antiques. Pros: lots of stuff Cons: lots of stuff more
