We were invited to try Palomino's weekend breakfast buffet with some friends who go frequently. I have to admit, I was a bit intrigued when they told me about this ""Las Vegas"" sized buffet for $6.99 for breakfast. I couldn't wait to try it. Now that I have, I could've waited longer. Sure, the buffet LOOKS very impressive. It's huge. Eggs, sausage, chicken fried steak, pancakes, and plenty of potatoes adorn the buffet. It's also got a lot of Mexican food though, which was a bit odd until I realized that about 95% of the patrons on the restaurant were Mexican. Huevos Rancheros, Enchiladas, Tamales, and other traditional Mexican dishes are thrown into the mix. Things I liked: the Mexican rice, the enchiladas with the green chili, the breakfast sausage, and all of the potatoes (diced skillet, shredded, potato cakes, scalloped). Things that were awful: The scrambled eggs, the tamales, and most disappointing: the chicken fried steak. The eggs were dried up and looked and tasted fake, the tamales were dried out and bland, and the chicken fried steak was not so much steak, but more just breading with a little piece of meat in the center. Extra gravy couldn't even make it more edible. Still, for $6.99, it's not ALL bad. I'm actually a bit curious to see what dinner is like. They have an ""all-you-can-eat crawfish night"", but I'm a bit skeptical on how good that crawfish is. You don't want to sit anywhere near the kitchen or the bathrooms. We tried to sit as far away from the bathrooms as possible, but because it was so busy, we still ended up only about 20 feet away. The stench of cleaning products and urine was hanging in the air. It was gross. Sit on the opposite side of the restaurant if you want to maintain your appetite. This restaurant is incredibly far from me, located in Arlington right beside Six Flags. Still, I might have to treat this restaurant like an ex-girlfriend and come back hoping it's better the next time around.
