Good restaurant 12/30/2009

Cool place, good food, easy access. Brunch half from the menu, and half as a buffet, works well. Similar to Hash House a GoGo but much nicer environment. Pros: poolside, casual, food more

Disappointing and oh so LAZY! 12/11/2009

I had several pleasant meals at Simon back when it was at the Hard Rock. Nothing special: but food was always clean and fresh and service was always professional. Not so at his new outlet at the Palms. My #1 problem is that the menu really hasn't changed...ever. So what maybe used to be innovative Asian fusion is now SO tired and bored and there are so many people who do it better. The one special that looked intriguing: a white truffle polenta (reasonably priced at $20) was sold out--(and really, it's a shame to sell out of white truffles because it makes you look like you're either a cheapskate and didn't want to lay out the money for them, or you don't have the clout to get enough!) Now to the service: the hostess was warm and friendly and one waiter seemed great, unfortunately I didn't have him but at least he noticed I had no utensils when my main course came, and addressed it (my waiter was nowhere to be found.). I understand the benefits of casual, understated service, but this is too casual to the point where they don't really seem to care about the food, or you (with the sold exception of the captain who came by several times and each time called me something like 'chief' or 'champ'--now why would anyone thing that would be proper or appreciated. I'd never go back again. Pros: Pretty room Cons: Overly casual service, sub-par food, boring menu more

AVOID AVOID RUN AWAY! You'll thank me. 10/11/2008

I went to Simon Las Vegas in August and I took 5 clients with me and I must say, I was quite embarrassed for taking them to a place like this. I am in the fashion industry and there is nothing trendy or high-end about Simon. The service is terrible not because any one is rude, but because the waitresses do not have a clue on what high -end service is. For example, chocolate molten cake was presented as ""yummy cake with chocolate goo inside"" Real classy. The other trick is the food. It is over priced and not edible. If you like bland or over salted simple foods, go ahead but expect to leave feeling tricked after you receive your bill. Out of the 6 entrees, all 6 were bad. I thought it couldn't get any worse, but then the dessert. .. they serve cotton candy...literally as a dessert choice. High-end is written all over there website..and then you get the above. I am from NYC and believe me Simon would never make it here. Simon is lucky to be in Las Vegas so they can trick everyone once and still survive. The decor is not that great either. Don't be fooled by the website. It doesn't look at all like it. It seems like an amateur interior designer decided to mix all of his or her favorite ""trendy"" things and put it all in one room. Asian influence meets pub meets bar scene meets pool meets junk food meets steak house meets cheap design all mushed together. I usually never write bad reviews because I consider myself to be an avid supporter of new businesses, but this place is so bad and so frustrating that I had to write this review. If you want to impress, Save yourself money, time, bad food and embarrassment and run away!\r Go if you never have been to a nice restaurant and you would have nothing else to compare it to. But even then, you will wish you stayed home and cooked your own meal. Pros: NOTHING RUN AWAY! Cons: Terrible food, service, and cheesy decor more

Good food, okay service 11/21/2006

I would return to Simon with the right group but while some aspects of the dinner were great others were lacking. I went with a group of 6 and the appetizers for the table were good but nothing was spectacular. Same with the entrees and side items, and the desserts included a large plate of cotton candy which was interesting but not unique enough to make it exciting. Our server was very friendly but let drinks become dry as he left our table for long periods and didn't provide much useful input on the menu. Overall, it was a nice restaurant that didn't do anything badly but also didn't do much great either. Pros: Generally good food, nice ambience, good for a group Cons: Nothing spectacular, service only okay more

this guy won battle beef on iron chef so i thought for sure i would get a great steak here. i was VERY DISSAPOINTED in my steak! i ordered a ribeye and it had no fat! (FAT EQUALS FLAVOR!)a ribeye should be a well marbled lusious flavorful cut of beef! this was very lean and had no flavor at all, it was not that tender also,i also ordered the iron chef burger for a app, nothing special, the service was very good the sides where good , but if you are use to big flavorfull prime dry aged beef you will be very dissapointed in your meal. i guess there aim is to please the younger hip crowd who is not interested in a well marbled steak,i guess if you stay away from the beef you could have a very nice meal here. Pros: nice room very good service Cons: tasteless steak! more

Blind Taste Test 10/6/2006

Its trendy yet contemporary but more importantly the steaks are well done and the service is impeccable. Like all steakhouses in Vegas the prices are crazy but probably not as bad as some of the strip establishments. Pros: Food, Service, Parking Cons: Prices, Dark Decor more

Kerry Simon has got a GREAT place in his namesake restaurant... Original menu, BEST filet in Las Vegas - trendy atmosphere, outdoor dining available on patio - Kerry Simon is many times at the restaurant, overseeing and making sure customers are satisfied. The chicken is fantastic - juicy and tender, but the STEAK!!! mmm! Top it off with his inventive desserts - the kid plate... cupcakes, mini choc shake, snowballs and rice crispy treat, or the GIANT mound of cherry-vanilla cotton candy!! Great place for large parties, cool bar... Highly recommended! more

In the Dark 2/28/2005

The dining room was so dark that all color and creativity of the food was completely wasted. We were seated at an undesirable table with our backs to a waitstation, where the staff proceeded to gab loudly all throughout our meal. Although there were plenty of staff on, I watched in annoyance as nobody cleared the seven dirty tables around us. There were only four active tables! Our waiter recommended the artichokes, which were disguised by a heavy, soggy batter. The fish carpaccio was so covered in ""stuff"" that I forget what the fish was. The short ribs were quite good, but, in a recurring theme, my ahi was pounded into non-existence by the overdose of wasabi in the mashed potatoes. The waitstaff seem young and inexperienced, perhaps the kitchen is too. The restaurant could have been very good, were it not for the abundance of amateurish mistakes. Pros: cool bar Cons: way too dark, apathetic staff, food needs work more

Fantastic food 8/8/2004

The food at Simon is just wonderful. The yellowtail carpaccio is out of this world. Great ambiance, lots of beautiful people. Pros: Food, People more

simon kitchen and bar 2/16/2004

overall, i enjoyed my dining experience. except for the host, amy, whom i booked my party with and was not the sharpest of individuals and not the caliber of person i expected to represent a restaurant from kerry simon or peter morton everything else went smoothly. my server, ray, was great. the restaurant's namesake kerry simon introduced himself as well as the co-owner elizabeth. i commend them both on a nice dining experience complimented with great drinks. the design of the restaurant was beautiful. thank you. Pros: food and drinks, ambience more
