After a meeting today, some co-workers and I decided to go out for lunch. I had heard good things about Pallotta's, but none of us had ever been there, so we decided to try it out. The menu requires some "decoding" of the abbreviations (gb = garlic bread; GYR = green, yellow, red bell peppers, etc). It is a bit on the pricey side ($9-12 for most entrees off the lunch menu), but the food was VERY good. We ordered mushrooms as an appetizer and it came in a delicious cream sauce with herb and garlic bread to dip in it. I ordered chicken marsala and it was excellent. The portions are huge. It came with garlic bread and a side of spaghetti. I ended up taking half of it home. Everyone at my table was pleased with the quality of our food.
We were not as pleased with the service. Someone came immediately after we were seated to take our drink orders, but we waited another 15 minutes before anyone came to take our food order. They were not very busy when we first got there, but it did start to pick up. When we ordered, we explained that we were just on a lunch break and needed to get our food quickly. People at tables around us who arrived after us received their meals before we did. After 45 minutes, we questioned our waiter, who told us that they were backed up in the kitchen. When we asked to speak with the manager, he told us that he was in the kitchen cooking at that time. It took quite awhile to get our checks also, our drink orders kept getting mixed up, and they were not good about keeping the drinks filled. I am hoping that this was just a fluke because they were short-handed today and would be willing to give them another chance because the food was so good.
