Yum! 4/27/2008

My boyfriend and I went to Paesano for his birthday. We both had the lobster ravioli, which was absolutely delicious! It looked like there were a lot of other good things on the menu, too, most of which were very reasonably priced. It has a great, authentic Italian atmosphere that adds a lot to the place. Check it out if you are in the Mullberry Street area! Pros: great food, prices Cons: service was a little slow, but didn't detract from experience too much more

BEST pizza ever! 4/15/2008

Just the best. Best crust, cheese, sauce, pepperoni, and sausage. I wish they could mail it to WA state!! more

Homestyle Italian Cooking in the Heart of Little Italy 12/9/2007

I used to work in the area & have eaten here numerous times. I enjoy taking friends here every chance I get because I know they will enjoy the experience. During the warmer months, there is outdoor seating which is great for people watching on Mulberry St. The inside decor reminds one of a remote restaurant tucked away in a small town in Italy - very warm & cozy.\r I had 2 friends visiting from Michigan last night & I decided to take them to Paesano's. There are numerous restaurants to choose from in Little Italy, yet there was a short wait before we were seated because the place was full. It's always a good sign when people are willing to wait instead of going to another restaurant.\r Since the staff remembered me because I've eaten there so many times, I was greeted with a big smile & a handshake. The bread & water were brought to the table immediately after we were seated & our drink orders were taken. I had the linguini pescatore [which I've had many times before] & a caesar salad. One of my friends had a caesar salad & the veal parmigiana as an entree. My other friend had the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer & the chicken francese as an entree. All entrees come with a side of pasta, which is always cooked just right. The seafood is always fresh & the sauces taste like homemade. The bread is constantly refilled, which helps clear the remaining sauce from the plate [I come form a long line of sauce dunkers...LOL]. After the meal, we were served samboca's as an after dinner cordial on the house. I had a cappucino & my friends had coffee to complete the meal.\r I'm Italian descent & grew up eating Italian food. Although they would hate to hear it, this cooking rivals the meals preared by my mom & grandmother.\r Paesano's menu is wide & varied. I personally recommend the linguini pescatore, veal parmigiana, & the chicken cacciatore. There is an ample wine list & a full bar to compliment this dining experience. The portions are family style - hearty & satisfying. Pros: Reasonable prices, hearty portions, varied menu, friendly & attentive staff, great food more

Not Bad At All 4/11/2007

The food is great. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants; its cute but could be a bit crowded at times. Fettucini Alfredo comes with bits of bacon which adds its unique touch. Bread is good and wine is delicious. A treasure in Little Italy. Pros: Great Food, Nice Find Cons: No Parking more

Average-not bad, not great 1/28/2007

Cute place, good service, reasonable prices. Food was average, though. Not bad, but not good enough to want to come back. Would be good for quick lunch, but not nice dinner. The bread was very supermarket 99 cent quality, disappointing for NYC. Service was very good-attentive, but not overbearing. I guess you do get what you pay for. I do think the recent high ratings are overrating. Pros: Ambiance, service, prices, inexpensive good wine Cons: average food, bland bread more

Great! 11/6/2006

Right in the heart of Little Italy, this restaurant has a variety of Italian dishes to choose from, all VERY reasonably priced. We've sampled many of the various meals served, and they have all been GREAT! The service is always good, and the House wine is definitely recommended. Pros: Atmosphere, food, service more

GREAT ITALIAN! 8/7/2006

OMG, I ate here back in april for the first time, and it was excellent! I took my mom, cousin and aunt here who wanted great italian while in new york, and everything we ordered was AWESOME! they were sooo impressed, i had the lasagne, amazing, best i've ever had, my cousin got a salad and it had the best dressing, my mom got linguine with garlic and butter, and it was great, very garlicy, which we like, my aunt got chicken marsala and omg fantastic!!!!! definitely authentic italian! Pros: food, service, location Cons: not one in michigan :) more

Amazing Italian, Best I've EVER HAD!!! 7/5/2006

Paesano is amazing, I've gone there 2 separate times and each time was amazing with the food, service, and ambience. With all the restaurants to choose from on Mulberry St, why Paesano? Because the food is unsurpassably amazing, servings are huge and one taste will make you just pause and be in awe. Trust me, check this place out, beautiful setting, well priced, good service. A gem of a find!! Pros: Food, Service, HUGE portions more

Don't listen to other reviews... 4/17/2006

My experience here was great! the food and service was excellent, he was very attentive and my lasanga was excellent, very reasonably priced i had a plate that could of easily fed two for only 11 dollars. It was GREAT! Highly recommended! Pros: food, service, ambience more

Mediocre Meal in Little Italy 8/5/2005

We stopped here because of the relatively cheaper prices compared to the other tourist traps lining Mulberry Street. The biggest problem, aside from careless service (everyone at our table got the wrong thing) is the tasteless food. I had the lobster ravioli, which was listed under specials. While the sauce was admittedly tasty, I could barely taste any lobster in the ravioli, it tasted like the frozen variety. The chicken cacciatore was even more mediocre. I'd choose another option--far from Little Italy, if possible. Pros: Affordable pasta Cons: Bland food, service more

If there's a heat wave... 7/26/2005

you might want to enjoy dinner elsewhere. Management needs to turn the air conditioner on, no fun sitting and sweating over dinner. Definately not recommended during the summer months. more

Great meal at a great price. 3/18/2005

I was recommended to this restaurant by a friend. I was highly impressed with the service I received. The meal was above average, the portions were enormous, enough to bring home for lunch the next day and the price was better than expected. I highly recommend the Calamari Luciana to anyone, but everything that was coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great. The waiters were polite and courteous and very helpful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal, great service with a great price. A real Little Italy feel to the place. Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Good prices more

The best 3/17/2005

Paesano is everything I had heard it would be and more! The restaurant is so romantic it's the perfect place for a date and the food was not only delicious, but the portions were massive, I had to take half of it home. I can't wait to go back to my favorite italian restaurant Paesano Pros: Food, atmosphere, Prices are great more

Standard Italian 7/28/2004

I went here, and I received a very standard Italian meal. While the food was not bad, a couple more dollars and a trip next door to Pellegrino's would have resulted in a much better meal. This place doesn't deserve the horror story reviews, but it doesn't deserve the reviews that heap praise at the restaurant either. When I go out to a restaurant, I come expecting something very good, especially since I cook Italian food. This did not quite fit the bill, and isn't somewhere I will return to, but I don't regret eating here. more

Paesano-way! 6/6/2004

On our first visit to Little Italy our expectations for a good Italian meal were pretty high. We had no preference and chose Pasano's. To our great disappointment our meal was a DISASTER from beginning to finish!!! The food was tasteless. My spagetti marinara was horrible and one could actually taste the freeze-dried onions in the sauce - YUCK!! The service was bad and no one bothered to clean our table between the starter and main meal. Needless to say they did not get a tip! (which resulted in no one saying goodbye when we left) DO NOT GO THERE!! Pros: good music, OK wine, I'm struggling here.. Cons: , tasteless food, bad service more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC! 10/31/2003

This is the worst meal I have had, period. Sure, the inexpensive prices and enthusiastic hostess lured me in, but when I had the meal ... boy did I regret stepping foot in there!!!! My firend has Fettucinni Alfredo ... everyone knows Alfredo sauce is supposed to be creamy ... I think I've seen thicker soups than this sauce! I had Linguini Puttanesca ... it was mediocre at best. Despite being empty, the wait staff was incredibly inattentive. I had to ask him for more more than one time. Pros: immediate seating, cheap prices Cons: bad food, bad staff more

THE WORST MEAL EVER 7/23/2003

This was by far the worst meal I've had in my life. I have had better at Olive Garden, and I HATE OLIVE GARDEN. A box of Barilla & a jar of Ragu would've tasted better. No flavor, no taste!! Cons: NO TASTE, NO FLAVOR, STAY AWAY more

Worth recommending 5/28/2003

I'd have to say one of the best ""value for"" meals I've had in the city. A friend and I had a lovely bottle of wine, two appetizers, two main courses and two coffees and we had change from $40. And none of the above could be faulted. The spaghetti carbonara in particular is pretty good. Pros: Inexpensive, Ambience more

An all around BAD experience 12/30/2002

The worst Italian I've ever had. And I'm Italian!! The calamari was tasteless and rubbery, the ""lauded"" baked ziti was undercooked and there's no way the marinara wasn't from a can. The service was TERRIBLE. We ended up tipping the busboy because our waiter would disappear for several minutes and return only when we flagged him down, smelling of fresh cigarette smoke. Ugh!! This was just an all around BAD experience. Don't risk it. Pros: Location, Prompt seating Cons: Service, Food, EVERYTHING! more

MANGIA MANGIA 9/20/2002

THERE ISN'T ANYTHING MORE APPETIZING THAN A HEARTY MEAL AT PAESANO'S. YOU WON'T REGRET A STOP HERE!!! Pros: PRICE, GREAT FOOD, SERVICE Cons: NONE, NONE, NONE more
