don't go there for happy hour 7/4/2010

We were there twice yesterday - convenience sakes - and the first time we had irish coffees. the coffee was lukewarm at best; we should have returned them but we were in a hurry. Then we went back and had happy hour food. the calamari was so salty that we had salf aftereffects for at least 2 hours after we left. HORRIBLE! And our sliders were dry. We won't go back there for happy hour. Pros: cute waitresses Cons: lukewarm coffee, salty food more

If you looking for a bad ass burger and the best beer and liquor selection in Portland then go to Paddy's. Their Chef is from Chicago and their bar manager is from Scotland. Combined they really make you feel like your on a far away coast eating their mothers food. Great place. Exceptional service and drinks Pros: Best Fish n Chips in town. Best BURGERS. MY GOD THE BURGERS Cons: They play Irish music the whole time more

Brunch is SO good! 11/17/2009

We had old friends visiting in town this weekend, and found we were at Paddy's every day. It is such a good spot to meet when people are coming in from all 4 corners of Portland. Brunch at Paddy's was AMAZING and I cannot stress enough how great the biscuits and gravy were! We ended up back there the following evening and the Happy Hour menu was so good I had to be rolled out the door cos I couldn't stop eating and eating and eating. I would definitely recommend Brunch, and then also the Shepard's Pie. It was so yummy! Pros: Best Biscuits and Gravy in Town... Cons: Can't stop eating and eating and eating more

Terrible Lunch Service 7/28/2009

Long wait to order. Even longer wait to receive our food. Several orders were incorrect, server brought out the wrong food, had to ask for things multiple times, including the tab! Small lunch menu and the food was mediocre. Definitely will not be going there again. more

One of Portland's finest bars 9/22/2008

I've been to Paddy's many times and I always have a great experience. The staff is very personable and the drink options are endless. I am a big fan of trying out different and new whiskey when I hang out here. The food is always excellent and their happy hour specials are great. Also, in my opinion Paddy's is the best destination for St. Patrick's Day. Pros: Service, drink selections, food more

Only one good bartender 9/9/2008

I've been to Paddy's 3 times now. The first time, the experience was awesome. The bartender there took good care of us and made us the best drinks EVER (called the Verve). So we went back. The server we got didn't pay any attention to us and we waited 30 minutes before we got our first round of drinks. We ordered Verves, and she brought the wrong drinks. We then waited another 20 minutes for the right drinks, and they were made awfully. After almost an hour of waiting and then being brought the worst drink ever, we were just going to leave. We thought it was a one time thing, so we went to Paddy's a few weeks later. We sat outside, and it was really hot. The server checked our ID's. My girlfriend had a temporary ID from the state of Oregon, and the server asked her for a second form of ID. She didn't ask us if we wanted to order drinks. Another server came out and checked our ID's again. She asked my girlfriend if her ID had come in the mail yet, and my girlfriend was like, ""If my ID came in the mail, I would have brought that one."" The server said, ""Well, you know it's only good for 30 days, right? It expires on the 22nd."" It was the 15th. After giving her a hard time about the ID (which was issued by the state, and that's what we get, so bars should get with the program), the server finally asked us if we wanted to order drinks. We did, and my girlfriend ordered a water as well. The drinks were fine, but no water was brought. Then someone else at our table ordered water and the server brought out water for everyone except my girlfriend. After waiting about 15 minutes, I just went up to the bar and got her a water. I don't know how/if these servers get tips. Pros: Good food and some drinks Cons: SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE more

Paddy's new burger is out of this world..... 1/8/2008

Last Friday I was in Paddy's having a drink and burger. The burgers at Paddys have always been good, but on this day it was the best I ever had..... Chef Doug came out and spoke with me about his new recipe. Red onion, fresh garlic and Apple cider bear. The new plates at Paddy's bring this joint into the new era. I will be back again and again for the great food and cocktails. Pros: Great Food, Huge alcohol selection more

Paddy's Portland. Excellent 12/19/2007

So, I stumble into this little bar at the base of downtown Portland. It's a clean setting. First thing I see are the long bank of ample booths. I'm a big guy, so I appreciate that. Next thing I see is one of the biggest selections of booze I have ever seen west of Columbus Circle. It's unbelivable. I think they have every liquor produced in the world. It'll make your head spin. ""If we haven't got it, then you probably don't want it,"" said the laconic bar tender, Chris. Pros: Great food. Unbelievable selection of liquors -- Irish Whiskeys and Scotches. Cons: No Pabst Blue Ribbon more

Best Patio and Happy Hour 7/25/2006

While I hardly felt by going there due to the obviously outdated picture from Citysearch I was pleasantly suprised to see a fresh and clean exterior matched by a warm and friendly interior. Pros: Great space with warm wonderful lighting late in the evening Cons: Can get crowded on the patio seating more

Saturday night happy hour. 9/10/2005

My fiance and I did not feel like going to a club last night (Sat) so we checked out Paddys. First off its located on the max line which is awesome. After 10pm they have a late night happy hour, and the food was better than expected. We had hot wings, potato skins, and nachos along with two beers for less than $20. We will be back often as the seasons change, and dressing up to go out becomes obsolete in the winter, and casual clothes in a sweet bar becomes much more appealing. Pros: Cheap eats, on Max line, friendly staff more

One of my favorites 9/7/2004

I stumbled into this place a few years back when I moved to Portland after school again. I love this place. Relaxed, chill crew. Don't be in a hurry, the service IS slow. This is based on weekday evenings and early Saturday evenings. Sometimes you get lucky, but for the most part, it's on a very relaxed pace. Pros: Great Food, Relaxed, WALL OF LIQUOR Cons: , Often very Crowded more

Try it, you'll like it 12/21/2003

Paddy's lunch/dinner menu, although a little expensive at a first glance, is a super value. Even if you come in with a large appetite, odds are you'll still be taking home a doggy bag. It's GREAT pub food, maybe second only to Laurelwood Brewpub in SE. As far as appetizers go, their garlic fries (smothered in cheese!) are a real gem--especially if you don't mind the obscene amount of fat and calories involved. Paddy's has a HUGE selection of single-malts and other alcohol. Their beer menu (local beers and a few big names like Guinness) is pretty small--about ten beers on tap--but offers some solid choices. Service is excellent and waitresses are very attentive. They open at 11am on weekends so it's a great place for ""hangover brunches"". Good happy hour M-F. AND IT'S RIGHT ON THE MAX LINE!! Pros: Large food portions, Great service, On MAX Line Cons: Not for Beer Snobs more

WOW, look at all that BOOZ! 1/2/2003

Wounder Place, my girlfriend and I spent New Years Eve here. We hard the owner for our personnal bar keep. With over 600 Bottels of the finest sprits known to man to choose from a man can get a it quite tipsie trying to find what he really likes. There fish and chips are the best I have ever had, great halibit fish not some cheap cod. The Lemon Drops with FRIS Vodka are the best. Pros: booz, booz, and more booz more

Wonderful Rasberry Kamakazi's! 11/26/2002

All I have to say is Rasberry Kamakazi! They are the best I have ever had. Not made with rasberry liquor, they are to die for. Their happy hour eats are yummy, and the atmosphere is nice for chatting with old friends. Pros: Rasberry Kamakazis, Nice Decour, Good Snacks Cons: Not the cheapest more

Mullagatawney MMMMMMM 10/28/2002

Good place - beautiful bar - local ESB (Belk's) was the beer choice here. Mulligatawney Stew was superb; calimari said ""crisp rings"" but was more sliced (hand pulled, according to the manager) and sauteed! A little spendy on the prices. Pros: Beautiful bar, Nice waitress Cons: Snotty manager, Pricey more
