Pad Thai Kitchen

I haven't written a restaurant review in years, so it takes an exceptional experience to prod me to pen one. ""Years"" would also apply to the time I've patronized Pad Thai Kitchen, that being since it first opened in 2008. It's unfortunate that my patronage has come to an end over mind-numbing incompetence in service and absolutely no concern for customer satisfaction. My girlfriend and I wanted to get Thai from Thai Phooket on Woodland St. Due to game traffic, we thought better and opted for our second choice. We were greeted by a very soft spoken boy who was so nervous (""I'm in training"") that he had to bring in an older woman to take our order. Okay. People get the jitters. Got it. We ordered two items (cashew seafood and steamed seafood), two thai iced teas and a tom yum soup. The lady returned after about ten minutes and said she had forgotten what meat I wanted for the soup, and asked if I wanted seafood. I said that would be fine. I also requested a spice tray. What we got after another ten minutes or so was one seafood dish. After about twenty minutes and my girlfriend was finished, my soup finally arrived. My menu item was nowhere to be seen. Seeing as how shoddy the service was, I decided I was done with wasting my time at Pad Thai Kitchen and requested my bill. The server asked if I wanted to take my soup. I replied that I did, and he came back a minute later....having poured my soup into a styrofoam box. No, not a soup container. A box. With a lid. The kind not meant for soup. The bill came and as expected, it was wrong. I took this to the host stand and explained that I did not get my menu item, and that tom yum soup, as advertised on the menu, was not $12.95. After going back and forth, she had to bring the cook out, an elderly woman. Wonderful. She explained that what I had gotten was a different item...because it had seafood in it. That wasn't what I had ordered. I had ordered tom yum soup and a menu item I never received. She finally offered to take $6 off my bill (after tax). Lest I explode and cause a scene at the circus I was dealing with, I calmly explained that I would no longer be patronizing their business, and I would be sharing my opinion with the public. So, if you care to receive shit-tastic service from a restaurant with mediocre food to begin with, by all means - Pad Thai Kitchen is the place for you. I was informed by the woman who took my order that she was actually a cook and the host had quit. I'm not surprised. \r \r Recommendation: Avoid, unless you enjoy horrible service and lousy food. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!! I have a groupon for this place and decided to try it out. The service was terrible, the staff rude, and the food my 5 yr old neice could have cooked better. When we ordered our food came out at different times so of course one dish was ice cold when the other arrived. Mine was completely tasteless and instead of trying to make it right all I got was ""NO REFUND""!! I can see why there were only 3 other people in there. I have another groupon that I will just throw in the trash. PLEASE PLEASE dont waste your money. I ended up stopping down the road for something to eat! more

The food here was delicious. You could definately tell that everything was made fresh. The dishes run about 10-15$ so a little pricey but the portions were good and the flavors were just fantastic. Crisp veggies in light sauces, the spring rolls were perfectly made without being overly greasy. I also like that they had many vegetarian options and any meat can be substituted with tofu. Heads up to vegans though, you need to specify no eggs as they are added to most dishes. The place was very clean and the staff was friendly. The only complaint would be having to park in a garage across a relatively busy street, but it's well worth it for the lovely meal. We will definately be going back.
